The Apostle Peter was laying down some hard truths and really challenging believers who were facing heavy persecution. People being people, I am sure they started complaining. Who does he think he is? Why is he telling us all this stuff? Why do we have to listen to him? I think Peter takes a moment here to explain that He is an apostle, repeating what he has learned from Jesus and his Father. And...

Have you fallen asleep while driving? I think most have or have come close to it. Not long ago I fell asleep with my eyes wide open on my motorcycle. Scary!! I think we do that as Christians. We walk around with our eyes open but we are spiritually asleep. Scary!! 

It's the end and the beginning! Peter is finishing his challenge on suffering and persecution in 1 Peter 5. He speaks to Elders. He speaks to younger people. He speaks to them all. Then he shares God's responsibility for enduring in this final chapter and the closing of his letter on suffering.

There is not question that we as Christians are going to suffer. It might be a lot or it might be a little. Suffering when we handle it right is good for three things. It honors God. It strengthens us. It ministers to others.

Why suffer! Wasn't Jesus' suffering enough? Nope! God calls us to suffer for a lot of reasons. But one of the greatest reasons we suffer is to give others hope....Here is why...

Being that I could not get my 1 Peter 4 passage ready in time I did a "breakaway message" this week. I spend a good part of my quiet personal time w/ God going through the Proverbs each month. Prov 1 specifically spoke to me this past week so I spoke on it. Next week we will be back in 1 Peter 4. 

Would you rather have God's eyes looking out for you or His face against you. This is a powerful passage about learning how to suffer for doing what is right. It is not an easy thing to do and it is not possible to handle it on your own. Listen and look to grow in this area. I'm trying to do the same. God bless you!

Are you married? Well, then you know how glorious the relationship with your husband is. And you know how difficult your relationship can be at times. Oftentimes, it is because we don't understand our roles. Each response has responsibilities. They are supernatural responsibilities. Well, take a listen and find out which spouse is the most important.

I'm not sure where this saying comes from, but it goes, "What goes in must come out." This is true of us. What we think about most usually drives us. The Bible in the N.T. tells us that we should capture every. thought and make sure aligns w/ God and His truth. The Holy Spirit, and we need to be the gatekeepers of our minds and souls. Why? The worst things that Satan does to us is drag us into sin and make us feel like we are worthless. If he can make devalue us he makes us ineffective. God does the opposite. He holds us in great value and treats us with honor. This passage is extremely empowering for us as God's children. It shows us how honorable and precious we really are to HIM.

We often fail because we don't prepare or plan ahead. If we want to have victory in any area of our life we should get ahead of the situation and prepare. If we don't we will most certainly perish.

This is what we are as Christians: Salt & Light! These two scriptures will help us wrap up our discussion on the Holy Spirit. They challenge us to make a difference in our communities for Jesus. Every moment we are awake we are to make a difference for Jesus and for the glory of God. And the only possible way that can happen is with us working w/ the Spirit.

Everyone loves gifts! When we become a believer in Christ and enter into God's family we are blessed with a gift or gifts that is super powered by the Holy Spirit. This is a lite look at spiritual gifts and how they are used.

Rated R Have you ever needed an advocate? Someone more proficient or knowledgeable than you were on a subject or situation. When it comes to spiritual things, we most definitely need one. That advocate is Jesus! More specifically, the Holy Spirit.  He takes what we are trying to say to God or don't know what to say at all, and makes it clear to God on our behalf. Pretty spectacular!

The Holy Spirit and His guidance. Where are you going? Do you know? There are so many areas in our lives that we need guidance. Relationship guidance. Work guidance. Financial guidance. Spiritual guidance. Sexual guidance. Personal guidance. Health guidance. The Holy Spirit is the greatest coach and guide we could ever possibly have. Don't forget Him.

Peace. The word itself sounds wonderful. It is hard for us to grasp it. It is hard because we try to get it on our own. We try things that were never made to give us peace. In and of themselves, they are fine. But they do not produce lasting peace. What does produce lasting peace?

How much time do you and I waste being powerless because of our lack of understanding of the Spirit. Or we just want to do our own thing in our strength. If we would allow as Christians the Spirit of God to do what He is capable of doing in our lives God would do things in and through us that would be unexplainable. That is what I want...

Wondering + Doubting = Weakness As a believer, the Holy Spirit gives us CONFIDENCE. It is His work, not ours. That means we need him every day.

Don't forget the Holy Spirit If you are in a relationship w/ God then you have His Spirit. He does many things for us. We started off by talking about how He challenges us about our sinfulness. Now we talk about He transforms us from slavery into freedom.

Don't forget the Holy Spirit. He is powerful in our lives if we will work with Him. Today, I share an unbelievable story that my wife and I witnessed at a restaurant. I'm sure you have heard similar stories, and who knows, you may have been part of one. I hope you will listen and be challenged to be sensitive to the Spirit of God in this situation.
