Strife's Sanctum

This week's anime review talks about a show that tried to mix a dark crime drama with superpowered teenage beings with mixed results. One of the storylines is gripping thanks to a cool lead character, while the other treads on solid, if uninteresting and cliche ground to make it a bit of hit and miss show overall. Another couple of weeks, another anime update. Going through the current anime of the season and give some general thoughts and predictions of where those shows are headed. Ground rules- Watching dubs only (might be a week or two behind)- Not every show available will be covered- I'll try avoiding spoilers wherever possible, but it will be marked regardless. Shows I Enjoyed- Frieren Season 2-...

*Testing a new microphone today. Might sound a bit odd compared to the old one. Way different style, specific to voice acting rather than broadcasting*This week's video game review is a rundwon of a game I beat on my gameplay channel a couple of months back. If you want to re-experience Ys, it's good. If you want hacky slashy nonsense and good music, it's great. If you want a substanti...

I don't normally review movies, but I watched this about 3-6 months ago and was floored by it. An immortal race is captured for their secret to long life, while an escapee finds a lost boy and decides to raise him. While the movie does focus on other things, the majority of it is based on the drama of a daughter and foster child growing up together and the struggles that presents. Podcast Sche...

This week's review is a sequel to the Somnium Files. Set between the first two games, it mixes Somnium and visual novel stuff with the puzzle solving of the Nonary Games. This half-sized version of the game is chock full of fun, despite the runtime. Having never played Suikoden, I was quite impressed with how breezy and fun the games were. The 2nd game improved so much the overall package was a good result. The main issue was character recruitment being awkward and sometimes unnecessary or limited in character investment. But that's the nature of designing 108 characters I suppose. Time to head back to the courtroom with Phoenix, Apollo, and Athena. The first game for the 3DS, Dual Destinies was an interesting change to the formula, focusing on a female lead storywise. While it does rebound from some of Apollo Justice's quality, it isn't the strongest Ace Attorney game either. This week's anime review is one of those good old "dirty crime bounty hunter town of evil and sin" kinds of things. While not on par with something like Black Lagoon, Gangsta. hits the same kinda notes, so if that's the show you're into, this will fit the bill. When Square wants to go against the grain, weird stuff happens. Parasite Eve first, and then Vagrant Story. Created as a new spinoff title set in Ivalice, VS is an action game, with puzzles, magic, and a unique setting and dark story. Despite this, it is a very confusing game at times. The weapon crafting system is one of the most in-depth I'd ever seen, and I don't think I've ever got...
