🎶 Welcome to, Illyria, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome... to Illyria. 🎶 This week's episode is on one of my favorite comedies, She's The Man. It is such a fun movie and has so many great quotes. It had been awhile since I had watched it, but it has been a film I have wanted to cover for quite some time. Amanda Bynes is such an amazing actress and I...

Here is the synopsis for those that are unaware of what the film is about... After a nature photographer (Mark L. Taylor) dies on assignment in Venezuela, a poisonous spider hitches a ride in his coffin to his hometown in rural California, where arachnop...

Back again with another round of badly described movie plots. Feel free to email me more badly described movies for the next time I host this game. Guess along as I read badly described movie plots for my guests to guess. Can you get them before they do? Can you get the ones they missed? How many did you miss? For the themed drink and the drinking game this week, just grab your favorite cocktail,...

Conan the Barabarian stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and according to IMDb is about a young boy, Conan, who becomes a slave after his parents are killed and his tribe destroyed by a savage warlord and sorcerer, Thulsa Doom. When he grows up he becomes a fearless, invincible fighter. Set free, he plots revenge against Thulsa Doom. This film is available on Starz or you can rent it. Conan the Barbarian...

I love this film! I usually don't pick what we are watching, but I did for this episode. I have been wanting to record over Executive Decision since I started the podcast. I miss the 90s and I feel like that decade had the best thrillers, of course also so many other amazing things. I just now found out that this film was Stuart Baird's directorial debut, good for him, he did a fantastic job. If y...

I love this movie and you need to watch it if you haven't, or watch it again because its fantastic. If you don't know what it's about, here is a synopsis... An elite team of mercenaries breaks into a family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone hostage inside. However, they aren't prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus is on the grounds, and he's about to show why...

It's that time of year again, hope you have all your shopping done and have started watching your favorite Christmas movies and some new ones. I know some of you are on the Hallmark Channel 24/7. I found this quiz on Buzzfeed, so play along and take a drink if you get one wrong. Holiday Cocktails (glamour.com): Yule Tai Ingredients 1½ oz. Cutwater barrel-aged rum ¾ oz. hibiscus-tea-infused Cut...

In this first week of December we are discussing the movie Scrooged starring Bill Murray as Frank Cross in a modern (well 1988 modern) take on Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". It also stars Karen Allen, Bobcat Goldthwait, Carol Kane, Alfre Woodard, and more. It's available to stream on Paramount+ and on Pluto. Scrooge Cocktail (https://blog.giallozafferano.com): Ingredients...

This is hands down one of my favorites shows of all time, if you have watched it, then you know why. If you haven't watched the show, I would encourage you to do so, but remember that this is a satire on mega churches, key word being satire. Season three takes place after Eli's semi-retirement and Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin have taken over the church. I've been a fan since it started in 2...

With the sequel releasing on November 22nd on Paramount+, we had to cover Good Burger! Good Burger is available to stream on Paramount+ as well as Tubi, so go check it out. Nickelodeon was the best back in the 90s and you can't change my mind on that. It was so much better than it is now. I still think Nickelodeon, and I guess Paramount and Viacom, need to have "fun runs" based on ou...

We watched Zoey 102!!!! I had never seen the series, but the film was really good and I highly recommend checking it out on Paramount+. The gang is back for the film and it follows Zoey Brooks and the rest of the Pacific Coast Academy alumni as they catch up for a wedding in the present day. "Martini, Slightly Dirty Just Like You": Ingredients 2 1/2 ounces gin or vodka 1/2 ounce dry verm...

I watched this film as part of Screamfest and after leaving a review on my Instagram story, Matthew reached out to me and then we scheduled a time to record over his film and one other. According to IMDb, Alo...

The times I have done games on here have always done well, so this time we play a new game. Guess along as I read badly described movie plots for my guests to guess. Can you get them before they do? Can you get the ones they missed? How many did you miss? For the themed drink and the drinking game this week, just grab your favorite cocktail, beer, or wine and drink when you get one wrong. As alway...

I watched this film, based on a novel by Victor Pelevin, as part of this years Screamfest. It is not your typical vampire film in any way, more of a romance story, but very interesting. I found out in the interview that Sharon Stone was originally going to be in it, how crazy is that. The film is about a 19-year-old nobody receives an invitation to join an elite and powerful society of vampires in...

First things first, congratulations for making a movie, it's really hard work and you obviously have a passion for it. I got a text from Danielle saying that we should record over The VelociPastor and I just said ok, we did have a great time recording, but maybe I should rethink this whole idea of not choosing what we are watching. This night was something, not sure what, but it was something. Thi...

Here is another wonderful bonus episode for you to enjoy. I was able to watch What You Wish For as part of Screamfest and then I got the privilege of interviewing the writer and director Nick Tomnay (The Perfect Host). This was a great horror/thriller, so keep an eye out for when it's released for you to stream. A down-on-his-luck chef with gambling problems flees to a Latin American villa, where...

Before you listen to this episode, go watch the film. You can buy or rent it from your favorite streaming platform, but I would recommend buying it over renting. I was able to watch KillHer last year as part of Screamfest and it was one of my favorites that I watched. It finally worked out to have an interview and it was a lot of fun talking to Tom, Robyn, and Rick. Tom wrote, produced, and starre...

Hayride to Hell is about how a small town farmer exacts his bloody revenge on unscrupulous town folk who try to steal his land. It's director by Dan Lantz, who I got to interview, written by Kristina Chadwick and Robert Lange, and stars Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), Kane Hodder (Jason Vorhees himself from many Friday the 13th films and Victor Crowley from the H...

I had never watched this film before, I had seen clips, but I was planning on recording while a friend was in town and all I said was "something from the 90s" and this is the film that was chosen. For those of you that don't know what this film is, it is a Disney Channel Original Movie and it's about an inquisitive teenager finds herself involved with suspected dodgy dealing on her space station h...

This film was also apart of the Hollyshorts Film Festival and its a great short film and I had the pleasure of getting to chat with the director and co-writer of the film, Gabriela Garcia Medina. This is a fun film and you can actually go check it out right now, before or after you listen to this podcast episode, at Bertie the Brilliant on PBS.org. Gabriela was a lot of fun to chat with and I can&...

One of the web series that I was able to watch as part of this year's Hollyshorts Film Festival was Play It By Ear. Emily Ann Zisko is the co-writer. co-director, and lead actress for this web series. Carly Reeves joins me this week as we discuss her short-lived time on Claim to Fame. If you don't know, Carly is related to Tom Hanks by marriage, her aunt in Rita Wilson. I really enjoyed chatting with her, she's very kind, fun, and doesn't hold back. We talk about so much, including the meltdown, so enjoy the episode. Now that we have made it through all the interviews I was able to get at this years ATX Festival, here is day 4 of the wrap-up with other ATX TV Members. When I asked who wanted to do this, I had no idea we would talk as long as we did, which was fantastic, but this is now broken up into 4 episodes. For day 4 of the festival wrap-up we discuss panels The Ride, MyKUTX, Taking Care, PodCo Rewind and...

I was able to watch this film as well because of the Fantasia International Film Festival and I loved it! This film is fantastic, look up the trailer. Follow them on Instagram @hundredsofbeavers so you can be up to date on when its released VOD.
