At the nexus point of this Epistle is the difference between dead and alive faith, and how we are to show that our faith is alive. This show is by works, not as a means to retain our righteousness, but a natural and irresistible reaction to the grace given to us.

God has chosen to work through the prayers of His people and delights to give us good gifts. But how should a Christian beseech their creator for help? What can we ask for? What of the man who offers prayer and yet doubts God’s ability to hear, fulfill, or care? With the help of James and the Spirit, all of these questions are answered for us this class.

Any good study of a book - especially a book of the Bible - should start with three questions: what was written, why was it written, and who is it that wrote it? We frame our study of James with these exact questions.

In this class, we looked at the first half of the Lord’s Prayer to give us a pattern for how we should pray. It is clear from the Lord’s Prayer that Jesus intends us to be aware of the relationship that we have with God as our Father and at the same time, that we recognize Him as King of the universe. Or prayer life should reflect that God’s glory is a priority in our lives.

Israel is a significant theme in the story of the Old Testament… and so too in the New. By starting in Genesis and working through the words of Paul, any today can come to discern the ongoing significance of true, biblical Israel — namely God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

This week we look at a Biblical Theology of sacrifice. We not only see how the theme of sacrifice is developed beautifully throughout the Bible, finding their perfection and culmination in the work of Christ on the cross, we also look at the general template for developing a Biblical Theology of anything, so you can put this tool into practice yourself.

Gluttony: The forgotten deadly sin - gluttony. See how gluttony is not a spectator but an active participant in swaying the gaze of Christians from their King and how we can glorify God with our food.

In this class, we looked at a biblical theology of idolatry in order to put into practice the tools that were covered throughout the beginning of the class.

Are these sins the same? Are they entirely different? Is there any overlap? In this compare and contrast, see how these sins are incredibly different, how to tell the difference, and how to dispel both of them from your heart.

This week we take a short break to look at another primary way to study the Bible - Systematic Theology. Systematic Theology looks at how we understand the Bible's entire understanding of a certain topic and how we apply that view to our lives today. It is important to practice it as well as learn how it complements Biblical Theology.

Perhaps the most physically dangerous of all of the sins, which can ruin relationships with an outburst and end lives in extreme cases. Also, is anger just for so-called “hotheads”? Learn out to control your temper, glorify God with righteous anger, and dispose of the anger of man forever.

In this class, we discuss the concepts of prophecy, typology and continuity as seen in Scripture. Understanding these concepts helps us better make connections between Old and New Testament.
