The priesthood of Melchizedek is an eternal priesthood. Through the levitical priesthood people only had one opportunity to each year to have their sins cleansed. But, in Jesus, our sins are forgiven eternally...both those that we have committed and those that we will commit. The important distinction is the necessity for repentance.

As Pastor Terry just shared the main point of the entire book of Hebrews is the fact that the earthly priesthood, as typified in the family of the Levites, is completely absolved. No longer do we need an earthly priest to have access to our Father in Heaven. Through Jesus, we can boldly enter the throne room of God.

The double-edged sword of the Word is more powerful than we can even imagine! Today Pastor Terry exhorts us to avail ourselves to the Word of God through the simple reading of it. By taking the time to read God's Word, we will expose ourselves to the power that it contains...the power to change our lives!

In today's message we embark on a very familiar portion of Scripture in the book of Hebrews...that of the double-edged sword of the Word. Pastor Terry shares with us the duel nature of God's Word. Sometimes God's Word slices and cuts with powerful judgment and at other times, it calms and soothes with words of mercy.

Today Pastor begins sharing with us what the book of Hebrews has to say about spiritual growth. We know that it would be tragic if a twenty year old young man still behaved like a new born baby. And yet, in the book of Hebrews there's a group of people described in this same manner.

Perhaps there's someone listening to this program right now and Pastor Terry was just describing you. You've walked with God for many years now, but you aren't currently serving. Heed the exhortation...find a place to serve within the Body of Christ and you will find such blessing and fulfillment in your life.

One of the most amazing blessings that we can experience as Christians is the presence of God in our lives ALL the time! God's Holy Spirit is always with us, guiding and directing our lives. We learn today that one of the precautions we need to take each day is to listen for the voice of God through the Holy Spirit.

One of the best tricks that the enemy uses to deceive and discourage us is to make us believe that the struggles we face, are unique and that no one has ever been through what you're going through. That's simply not true. The Bible says that every temptation is common to man and our Savior experienced them all. He knows exactly what you're going through.

Simply saying that you believe in God doesn't mean much. And Pastor Terry's example a moment ago proves the point. In order to experience the benefit of a relationship with God, you have to live according to His Word. Don't be confused though...living according to God's Word doesn't save you, it simply proves that you're saved.

In this fast paced world in which we live, it's easy to lose track of the fact that we all need rest. We need that time to unwind and allow the LORD to speak to us. But, perhaps you're listening today and you haven't even entered the initial rest with God, which is a rest of the eternal consequences of your sin. Be sure to stay with us as Pastor Terry will invite you into God's rest.

This hectic daily routine that we call life can often times distract us from our true purpose here on earth. It's not to obtain the latest toy, advance your career, or sculpt the perfect physique...our purpose here on earth is to lovingly serve those around us as a way to show them that God loves them in a real and meaningful way.

Our mortality has a special way of speaking to us. Just thinking about our lives ending causes all kinds of emotions to come to the surface. But, as we just heard from Pastor Terry and we'll learn from the text today...as believer's in Jesus Christ, we don't have to fear death. In fact, we can accept it and live life to the fullest until that day.

Jesus, our Savior, is complete. He is the complete image of God the Father to us. When we consider Jesus, we know exactly what our Father in Heaven is like. Jesus is perfect and He completed the Word of God. Does that mean that He did away with God's Word or abolished it? No! Jesus is the Word!

The potential of mankind is now greatly limited due to sin. And yet, God has promised us that He will restore a great deal of this if we'll simply confess our sins and place our faith in Jesus. He is able to make all things new. But, it must start with the act of humbling yourself and crying out to the LORD.

Why isn't humanity experiencing the blessings that God intended for us? Why is there so much suffering in this world? The answer to this question is quite simple...sin. Sin bring death and suffering. And as time is passing, mankind is becoming more and more committed to sin and thus the consequence of sin is being experienced.

As we just heard a moment ago from Pastor Terry, one of the most important areas of our lives where we can combat the problem of drifting...is the simple reading of God's Word. When we neglect this discipline in our lives, we open ourselves up to the deceit of the enemy.

Those who have fall away from the LORD never woke up one morning and decided to walk away from their Savior. Sadly, this is a gradual...decision by decision choice that anyone can make. Today Pastor Terry begins sharing with us the dangers of drifting. We'll learn a few ways to protect ourselves on a daily basis.

The religious spectrum is drowning in concepts and ideas about angels. Some have the thought that born-again Christians may use demonic practices such as astrology and psychic readings. This is heresy brothers and sisters. Not only that, it's extremely dangerous! There are things in the spiritual world that we have no business meddling with.

We know that Jesus is greater than the angels. But, could you explain that to someone? Could you show them in the Word of God WHY Jesus is greater than the angels? Well, after today's study with Pastor Terry you will be equipped to do just that.

Probably the most common doctrine among the cults is their misunderstanding and false teaching around the person of Jesus Christ. And specifically, many of these cults deny the deity of Jesus. Today we learn that Jesus is greater than the angels and therefore not be considered their equal.

Part of the wonder of God's amazing Creation is how much it communicates to us the glorious truth that God exists! It's impossible to view this world that we live in without considering the Creator. As Pastor Terry just said, we need to be ready to open our hearts and receive Him.

We know that many of the prophecies in the Old Testament spoke of the coming Messiah. And from our place in time, we could easily fall into the trap of rejecting some of the Old Testament because Jesus has come. This is ploy of the enemy to discount the validity of God's Word. We know that ALL Scripture is good for our growth in the LORD.

The prophecies contained in the minor prophets have unfolded right before our very eyes. And these fulfilled prophecies help bolster our faith for the few that are left. Because God has been faithful to keep every promise in His Word, we can trust Him for the future. We can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He will do what He said he would.

Even though we know that history shows us that the time between what we understand the old and new testaments to be was four hundred years, that doesn't mean that God was idle. Our Father in Heaven was behind the scenes orchestrating all things for the arrival of His Son, Jesus.
