There are some of you listening today that have endured unspeakable struggles in this life. Like Job, you have suffered great loss. Pastor Terry encourages you today to keep trusting in the LORD because Jesus endured the greatest suffering of all. As hard as it may seem right now, there is One Who knows how you feel.

One of the greatest ways that satan has made an in road into the Body of Christ is by division. Small disagreements turn into much larger issues when they aren't dealt with right away. We need to heed the exhortation of the Scripture that Pastor Terry just reminded us of...be at peace with all men as much as possible.

As many of us remember, the discipline that we received as children certainly wasn't much fun. And now that we're parents, doling out that punishment is even less fun. And yet, the discipline that God has called us to administer to our children should be an example to us. This command to discipline our children actually identifies them AS our children.

Difficult times are bound to happen in this life. We're sojourning in a fallen world that is committed to sin. And the Scriptures are clear, the penalty of sin is death. So, as we just heard from Pastor Terry, we need to put on our game faces and press on in this race called life. Our LORD will be returning for us and we must endure until then.

One of the major temptations that this world dangles before your face is sexual immorality. Current music is laden with innuendos about sex outside of marriage and the television is practically pornographic in some of the material it calls entertainment. As Christians, we need to steer clear of those mediums of entertainment that could cause us to fall into this sin.

During the time of Noah it was thought that it had never rained, therefore people didn't even know what rain was. Imagine the mockery that Noah endured when he explained to people what he was doing...building an ark, because of a flood. And yet we know that he did this by faith. We need to follow that example regardless of the persecution we might face.

Today Pastor Terry shares with us the Biblical definition of faith. We'll learn that faith is believing in something that you can't see. And truly, there are all kinds of different acts of faith. The evolutionist is actually a person of faith...they were not there when the purported evolution took place, therefore they believe evolution BY FAITH.

If that's you...don't be deceived...the warning that comes from the text today is VERY sobering and should be carefully considered.

Perhaps you're listening today and you feel like you've gone too far...that God won't forgive you. Maybe you even believe that you've blasphemed the Holy Spirit...which, as we'll learn today, is THE unpardonable sin. So, how can you know for sure? The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the rejection of Jesus Christ.

In spite of what some religious movements proclaim, God has given us personal access to God. We don't have to go through a priest or any man...that is, accept Jesus who is the High Priest under the priesthood of Melchizedek. And now, we are are considered priests as well.

In the Old Covenant access to God was very restricted. In fact, you could only enter into His presence if you of the Levitical priesthood and even then...only once a year. In Jesus, we have open access to God. We can come boldly before God. This new way was consecrated by the blood of Jesus.

Imagine this...you're at the airport waiting for your spouse to return. She comes through the terminal exit and you run to her...as you approach her, you flatten yourself against the wall and begin hugging her shadow. :-)...sounds ridiculous, right? Well, this is the exact warning that's being given in Hebrews...embrace the point of the Covenant, Jesus!

Friend it doesn't matter what you believe, each and every person on the face of the earth has an appointment. You can't be early or late. The appointment I'm speaking of is your death. It's important to consider what blood sacrifice you'll offer to the LORD. Will it be your own blood as payment or the the precious blood of the sinless Savior?

Have you ever stopped to think about what it took for sins to be cleansed in the Old Covenant? As we'll hear from Pastor Terry today, it was a VERY bloody ordeal! In Jesus, the entire process of sacrifice for sin has been completely fulfilled! No longer do we need to bring an animal to a temple to sacrifice for our sins.

In today's message Pastor Terry begins sharing with us what the old testament sanctuary and the levitical priesthood was like. This rigorous and bloody system was quite burdensome. As you listen to this description, stop and think about how hard it would be to attempt to relate to God under this system.

For those of us that are parents, we know that our task can be difficult at times and is plagued with mistakes. Sometimes we discipline the wrong child or discipline to harshly or even go a bit easy when we should be firm. God's discipline isn't like this at all. He perfectly administers His correction in our lives in order that we might be fit, holy vessels for His use.

If you've been walking with God for some length of time you know that when a brother or sister just happens to come to mind, it's almost never a coincidence. The LORD is usually putting that brother sister on your heart so that you will lift them up in prayer or perhaps get in contact with them to share an encouraging word.

When God makes a promise, you can...as they say, 'take it to the bank!' When someone makes a promise and then they break that promise, what does that make them? A liar! And God cannot lie! If He could or even would, He wouldn't be God, He'd be just like us. This is why we can trust God's Word, knowing that He will fulfill His promises.

Pastor Terry's point a moment ago is not to condemn. Of course, we will all have areas in our lives where our discipleship is lacking. But, what is the overall picture of your life? Are you pursuing the truths of God and the Holiness that He reveals in His Word? If so, your life will be different than those around you.

Sadly, there are those within and among those in the Body of Christ that don't truly know God...they don't have a real relationship with God. So, how can we know the difference? Fruit! You see, the overall picture of a person's life should reflect the confession that they've made.

Claiming to be “of” a particular person or group can be dangerous. We see this problem constantly within the Body of Christ. People seem to flock to the celebrity ministers as if they were the ones who actually saved them! This is dangerous! Brothers and sisters, the correct declaration is that we are “OF” Christ!

The portion of Scripture that Pastor Terry is tackling is one of the most challenging in the whole of the Bible. Today Pastor Terry shares with us the differing opinions about this text and what the ramifications are. It's vitally important that we understand this portion of Scripture in order to know who we truly are.
