Jesus uses the healing of a man who was physically born blind to show us that the bigger problem is spiritual blindness, which is a condition we all have or have had at some point in our lives. Jesus' final commands to his disciples are the marching orders for Christians today. The Great Commission is not just a call for pastors, but it is a command given to every one of us who calls Jesus Lord. Our God is a missionary God. He sent Christ into the world to rescue us. This morning, Providence Road celebrated 10 years as a church! We look back on what God has done in the life of our church. But also forward, as we celebrate 12 people entering the baptismal waters proclaiming new life in Jesus.

Jesus heals a man who was unable to walk and was looking to a pool of water to save him. The religious leaders were looking to their own religious rules to save them. In light of this passage, John wants us to ask questions such as: Do we believe we are sick? Do we want to be healed? Do we believe Jesus is the only one who can heal us? Jesus returns to Galilee where he meets a royal official who asks him to heal his dying son. Jesus heals the son and uses the trial to turn the man’s heart towards issues of belief and eternity. A Pharisee named Nicodemus has an after hours meeting with Jesus to learn more about Him and the signs He is doing. Jesus explains the concept of being "born again" to Nicodemus. The Temple was a major piece in the life of God's people. When Jesus cleansed the temple in this passage he was making a major statement about the temple and about Himself being the better temple.
