Message from the Mountain

I always look forward to the clumps of bright yellow daffodils when they bloom in the spring. They brighten the landscape. I am reminded of souls that brighten the landscape of life all year long. You light the way for others to discover the beauty in life. Support the show

On their first walk up on the Mountain this spring, my wife and family members discovered a large patch of clear ledge where a pine tree had been toppled over the winter. The bones of the ridge line were revealed all the way back to the ice age. Our soul has many layers to it. Support the show

The buds are swelling and ready to pop on the trees, bushes and shrubs. I am enjoying watching the greens of the lilac buds and can’t wait until their fragrant flowers open wide to the sun. There is excitement here of the promise of the future. Support the show

Today is a very special day. It is my wife’s birthday, and I want to pay tribute to this very special woman, something I recognized in her when I first looked into her eyes back in high school. I am so grateful she is in my life. May this be a day filled with love and joy. Support the show

Finally, after a week of above average warm temperatures, I think I can safely say that winter is in full retreat. I have learned to be cautious of that feeling, however, having been surprised in the past when I was overconfident. Still, I am fairly sure, and grateful, for what lies ahead. Support the show

We often think of seeing red as being angry at someone or something, but in this case, I am celebrating the red buds on the maple trees. It is another indication that spring is ready to burst wide open. In life we have the ability to change negative colors into positive ones. Support the show

As spring begins a major warm up, I am finding signs of new growth every day. Then again, I look for signs every day of the year that give me an indication that I am being guided along my Soul’s path, I believe we all have them, if we pay attention. Support the show

Finally, it looks like spring is turning the corner this week, ushering in hints of the summer season ahead. I have been waiting for this to happen for a while now. It seems we wait a lot in our lives for something to finally turn a corner to what is hoped to be a clear road ahead. Support the show

A simple pure white Easter lily is a symbol for me on this holy Christian day for peace, love, and tolerance. Imagine for a moment what it would be like if a vast majority of the population on earth intended to live with these standards. Support the show

Over many years of experience I have learned to trust that the warm weather of spring will arrive. Children build trust in adults that they will be guided, and sometimes that does not work out well. Broken trust is hard to rebuild. I have learned to trust and believe that something is there to guide me. Support the show

I have never been a very patient person, especially before I understood my own thought processes. I was unable to do things as others did them. April has not produced as warm weather as was forecasted, and many things seem to be on hold, maybe for a reason. Support the show

Recently we saw a blue bird on our suet feeder. This is the first time as far as I can remember that we have experienced that. We have them on top of the Mountain, and they compete with the swallows to nest in the birdhouses in the Lupine field. We are blessed. Support the show

I sometimes think of our journey in life as walking down a winding road. Looking back, we can see the twist and turns of our experiences and use them to help us set our course in the future. Support the show

For the past several years, my daily intention is to reflect the love of the Cosmos in everything I do. It is not easy to be perfect at this, but it is what I intend. I have learned to realize that part of the process is to be aware of smiles that these types of actions bring to others. That helps me smile. Support the show

It is interesting to me where people choose to live. We are fortunate to live in a place that we love, but that is not the same for everyone. There are place we love to visit time and time again. I have come to believe that our real home is deep inside ourselves. Support the show

As the words to an old song say, “April Showers Bring May Flowers”, it rings in my head as we change the calendar and our outlook to an optimistic belief that we are really in a transition to warmer weather and the summer ahead. Finally, the last day of March has arrived, and I, like so many others, are looking forward to the adventures of April and discovering again, for the first time, the landscape that has been hidden by snow all winter long. It is a time for discovery.   Support the show

This time of year there are a lot of things to keep track of in nature as I impatiently wait for spring to melt the snows of winter. I can see progress each day now. This spring and summer will bring a lot of reunions for people who have been keeping track of each other from a distance. Support the show

I have been thinking about songs about spring lately, including, “Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most”. People often have to change their plans this time of year due to changing weather. How flexible we are makes a difference all year. Support the show

As we enter the last days of March, many people are now turning their attention to the beginning of baseball season; beginners through the professional teams. They hope that this will be the year. Personally, I like to substitute the word intention for hope. Support the show

Just because the calendar says Spring, it does not mean that we will have no more snow like we experienced recently. However, the temperature is warmer, and the snow often melts the same day, creating moisture for the soil, something positive in a negative situation. Support the show

As the end of maple tapping season closes, my thoughts about tapping in reach out into the Cosmos and the life force energy that flows through the very essence of our souls. I am not sure that I can truly define what it is, but I am learning that it is there when I let myself tap into its loving flow. Support the show

It is not often when we have a plain old rainy day, especially in between seasons, as we did recently. My thoughts went back to my childhood and what we did to keep ourselves occupied. The same is still true. I was grateful for this chance to explore. Support the show
