Message from the Mountain

Several years ago, as an afterthought I transplanted a couple of small trowels full of tiny bluettes to the Center and they continue to come back every year. I am reminded that it is often not just the big splashy acts of positivity that continue to grow, but the small ones as well. Support the show

Our fifty-plus year-old pear trees are blooming again with white flowers, attracting the bees. They will eventually bear fruit that will mainly go uneaten except by critters. Sometimes it takes a while when we plant positive actions for them to grow to maturity. Support the show

The beautiful tiny and delicate primroses are now open and celebrating the May weather. I look for these special flowers each year and, with heart felt gratitude, I take in their colorful blooms and breathe out heart-based love. Support the show

The way we go about setting our intentions in life can have a major effect on others. Recently we have been having some beautiful views of the sun, caused by forest fires in the west of Canada. Life is a series of causes and effects. The key is how we respond to them. Support the show

Five days ago I had hip surgery, and it was a little more complicated than expected. I am getting better every day and am discovering life again for the first time. It is not the same as it was, and I expect it will be even richer and more filled with love than before. Support the show

When the temperature reached 70 degrees last May, I sat on a bench on the mountain taking in the beauty of Nature. My heart was filled with gratitude for that special experience, and I set my intentions to remember and share that love in positive actions. This year I haven't been able to sit on the bench yet, but I will soon and am looking forward to it. Support the show

I was amazed after a few days away to find how much the landscape had turned green. The valley looked vibrant from my view on the mountain. Everything looks fresh. It is also a wonderful time to turn your fresh ideas into reality. It is the season of growing changes. Support the show

Finally the forecasters are calling for return of the sun for the next few days. Its warmth will be very welcome. Still, in all the rainy cloudy weather we have had, there were many times when my heart was positively warmed with the same warmth as the sun. Support the show

The recent heavy rains have saturated the mountains and valleys with so much moisture that the land cannot hold any more. Consequently, there have been some major washouts on the roads. This has held true since the early settlers arrived. It is good to be flexible in life. Support the show

My intention is to always be aware of heart signs that I believe materialize at just the right time in my life, showing me that I am not alone on my soul’s journey. So it was that a heart sign on the bark of a birch tree was there for me at just the right time. Support the show

The maple leaves have been slowly getting ready to burst open. All that’s needed is a warm sunny day, and it will begin to look like summer. I believe that will happen soon, just as I believe that positive intentions will manifest when the time is right. Support the show

With the recent deluge of rain, the water flowing down the mountainside is creating a powerful force that the settlers used to run mills, like the bark mill located on our property. I think of the power of human positive intentions that, when flowing together, can change the world. Support the show

Today, on the first day of May, I am reminded of the Star Wars saying, “May the Force be with you.” Cayce believed there was a non-judgmental Force in the Cosmos where our souls were created. It is very powerful and always with you. Support the show

Now that the leaves are beginning to sprout, the male finches are showing their mating colors. In the winter they blend in with the drab landscape, helping to protect them from predators. People often try to hide their abilities rather than taking the risk to brightening others’ lives. Support the show

The other day we spotted a wayward daffodil blooming at the base of a tree by the brook. We must have dug the bulb up when we were doing cleanup sometime in the past. I call this type of surprise a miracle, appearing to me at just the right time. Support the show

The lupine are coming up on the mountainside and I look forward to visiting them when they bloom a month or so from now. I wasn’t sure if that was going to be possible, but with a new hip next week, I have something to look forward to in Nature. Support the show

Just when the growing season seems ready to pop open, we get hit with a couple of weeks of cool rainy weather. The bright spot is the forsythia with their yellow flowers. I think of people that brighten up the landscape of drab lives with their positive inner lights. Support the show

I have sweet memories of mayflowers from my childhood. My mother had a favorite patch. We have a lot of mayflowers on the mountainside. I think of people that have positive energy that set the tone for the future like our mayflowers. Support the show

There is a new bird house in the Lupine Field replacing an old one that succumbed to the winter weather. I think of human dwelling places. We may have one or many in our lifetimes, but the home in our heart connecting us to our souls is always there. Support the show

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I have watched master gardener Derek reshape the landscape around the Center. I think of all the people in the world that are reshaping the landscape of their lives as they listen to their hearts for guidance. Support the show

When I drove over to the Center to admire the work on the gardens recently, the first thing I saw when I opened the car door was a small stone heart and I knew it was a special sign from my team on the other side, filled with heartwarming love. Support the show

Thirty plus years ago when we purchased land on the Mountain, we had a forestry plan created for a logging operation to thin out the trees. The logger, Roy Ames, who passed recently, discovered a formation that reminded him of the Vikings. The mystery continues. Support the show

In life it is often the biggest and flashiest people or objects that capture the attention of others, but Nature gave me a wonderful example of mini-daffodils growing in Penny’s Garden. They have all the flash and power of their bigger relatives. Small acts of positivity are very powerful. Support the show

The sunsets and sunrises we have enjoyed since last fall are beginning to disappear. They are not going any place, but the leaves on the trees outside the windows will soon block the view. In life we do not have a warning when situations change. Your positive intentions can help your flexibility. Support the show

The right tool can make a big difference on how a project moves along as recently was amplified by my wife as she used a Bob Cat to make easy work of moving debris off the lawn. I can only imagine how the settlers would have felt if today’s modern tools were available then. Support the show
