Message from the Mountain

One of the goals of the Ormond Gardens at the Center is to plant flowers that attract insects, butterflies and moths, and that is exactly what is beginning to happen. The lighthouse perched on a rock outcropping at the entrance to the harbor has been guiding sailors safely for many years. I am reminded of people who are beacons of light that help guide others in their travels or their souls. Support the show

Looking down from the 9th floor of the ship docked in Bermuda, we noticed the water had a very unique design to it. If the pattern could be duplicated, it might make for some interesting clothing. I think of people with unique designs that enhance the fabric of life. Support the show

We have dragon fly reminders both inside and outside our house. Several years ago, Penny was in an auto accident where her car was bumped over a bank and into the water. As she waited in a truck for me to get there, a dragon fly accompanied her and wouldn’t leave her side. Support the show

The single mock orange shrub does not have the dense number of flowers as the double, but the aroma is just as nice. It spreads easily and can take over the landscape if not paid attention to it. Still, it has its place in the landscape as different types of people do in life. Support the show

One flower book describes orange day lilies as the bane of the garden. The author considered them too common to rank high enough on the flower scale to be included. I, on the other hand, love to see them line country roads, often growing wild. I think they are brilliant. Support the show

July 4th is a day of celebration in this country marked by parades, fireworks, picnics, strawberry shortcake and watermelon, to name a few. It is the time for each of us to commit to sewing these seeds of freedom to the coming generations. Support the show

There is another yellow color blending into the garden palate. I am not sure how it got there, but it is very welcome and comes back year after year. I am reminded of people that somehow connect to others and just blend into the palate of life. Support the show

The tall slender, delicate astilbe is a flower that is much more resilient than it looks like and provides a wonderful balance for a flower garden. There are people who appear to be delicate but are much stronger in life than others give them credit for being. Support the show

I don’t think I have ever seen a chipmunk stop and rest for very long. They are constantly on the move. There are people who never pause very long either, going from one project to another as they may have several going at once. The object is to go at a pace that is right and good for you. Over fifty years ago my parents gave us a collection of shrubs and trees that were advertised on the back cover of Parade Magazine. We still have a few of them surviving today, including a double mock orange. Investing positively in the future can pay off. Support the show

Derek has spent a couple of weeks here shaping the gardens at the Center and adding plants, including ever bearing yellow lilies that bloom all summer. I love to see the Ormond Gardens expand, just as I love to see people planting new positive ideas to benefit others. Support the show

I am in the habit of calling the harebells, coneflowers. They seed themselves wherever the wind takes them. I am reminded of people that sow the seeds of positivity that take root in the fertile hearts of others. Support the show

I am not sure what the name of this plant’s name is, but there are several of them growing at the Center and on the Mountain that are feeding a lot of insects. I am reminded that positive acts of kindness, no matter what their size, feed a lot of souls. Support the show

I am always looking for discoveries in Nature as I walk the trails. I have been observing some clumps of small white flowers on the new growth of some type of wild tree or bush, like a dogwood. These discoveries help me appreciate discoveries I make in all aspects of my life. Support the show

We have a few bright little clumps of flowers that are called fire witches. I can imagine the fairies dancing around the blossoms on a starry night. I am grateful for all the color in the gardens that help me appreciate all the color in life. Support the show

The hills are alive with pollinator plants like pink and white clover providing nourishment for insects, birds, and animals that, in return, cross pollinate other plants and trees, creating a vibrant landscape that brings great pleasure to all that take the time to pause for a moment and be grateful. Today is Penny and my 62nd wedding anniversary. We practice retrogression, getting younger each year. This year she wrote and published “A Timeline of Madison NH” for the historical society; I played a lot of music and will soon record podcast #6100. What is retirement? Support the show

Now that the forget-me-nots have finished flowering, the second phase of the wild lawn has taken over with harebells and foxgloves in full bloom. These wildflowers choose where they want to be, like a lot of late blooming people. We appreciate them. Support the show

This is the first full day of summer according to the calendar, but in my mind, it has been summer since the first of June. It is time to let the dreams and plans of the winter materialize into a positive reality as one rejuvenates the soul for the seasons ahead. Support the show

The white harebells are now in full bloom. I love the fact that they, like other wildflowers, choose their own locations, although they can also be transplanted. Many people also choose where they want to bloom. Support the show

With all the new plants going into the gardens at the Center, I sometimes don’t get the label right, as was the case with cat mint that I mislabeled as lavender. There is always something new to learn in life as I continue my quest for knowledge. Support the show

I keep coming back to the subject of love, often inspired by hearts that appear in unexpected places, like the middle of the driveway. My intention is to be a channel for the love that comes from the core of all creation, and I am grateful for that opportunity. Support the show

 There is a group of wild asters that flower around an apple tree in the orchard. I look forward to their annual appearance as I do for many different events in my life that occur year after year that help spread positivity and love. I am grateful for the asters. Support the show

I am very fortunate. I celebrate Fathers’ Day, as well as grandfathers’ day, and my wife, as well as my past life children from my soul family, all year long. I realize this is not the same for every father, and my intention is to apply the love I feel each day to others. Support the show
