LOCAL GETAWAYS 04.08.2024 1:46
Many of us rarely have the chance to take large vacation/getaway trips. The goal is to escape the pressures of daily life. I have found that short local getaways are the secret to staying in touch with my heart. Just a moment of silence or a local picnic in Nature can rejuvenate my soul. Support the show
DOUBLE THE PLEASURE 03.08.2024 1:24
Towards the end of July and the first of August, one of my favorite daylilies begins to flower. It is the orange double lily. My heart fills with warmth and gratitude when they greet me. My goal is to use that positivity as the day progresses and spread it to others. Support the show
NATURE TAKES OVER 02.08.2024 1:31
We originally sowed about two pounds of lupine seed when we planted the field on top of the Mountain. Then nature took over with a new crop of mature seeds. Many people spread the seeds of positivity, hoping the Nature of life will continue to spread them. Support the show
THE FLOWER LINEUP 01.08.2024 1:29
I noticed some hosta flowers forming a straight line in front of pink phlox. I thought of people called lineal thinkers (like in mathematics where you need to prove how you got the answer). There are others who just “know” the answers and are often called wrong. It is okay to know. Support the show
A NEW GENERATION 31.07.2024 1:31
For years we have had a hawk escort us as we drive the old road to the cabin. This year we think a new generation is doing it. I believe that a new generation of humans is being born with so much more than those before them. They just “know”. Support the show
WE DIDN'T SNOOZE! 30.07.2024 1:39
There is an old saying, “If you snooze, you lose.” In other words, it is important to pay attention to what is happening and take the appropriate actions when it is time. We picked enough blueberries for three muffins just before the birds got them. They were good!!!!!! Support the show
WHEN YOU SPILL THE BEANS 29.07.2024 1:39
I love a good cup of coffee in the morning. Part of my daily ritual is grinding the beans. The other day the container holding the beans fell out of the cupboard and spilled all over. It could have ruined the day. I paused, took a breath, cleaned up the mess and enjoyed my cup of coffee. Support the show
WATCHING THE PROGRESS 28.07.2024 1:51
I am so grateful for all those who give of their time to create a positive environment at the Center for visitors to enjoy. There has been a lot of progress this year at the Ormond Gardens with many transplants. There is always something wherever you are that can use your help. Support the show
FINDING NOURISHMENT 27.07.2024 1:14
The birds, insects, and some animals find their nourishment from flowers like the brown-eyed Susan. People find their soul’s nourishment from being in and observing Nature. All we need to do is to take a moment wherever we are and open our minds to the wonders around us. Support the show
WAITING TO BE PAIRED UP 26.07.2024 1:22
The pickling pears are half ripe and waiting to be paired up with someone that wants to harvest them. We don’t want them, so usually it is the animals that will enjoy the fruit. People have abilities or products that could use some help pairing with someone to find positive benefits for others. Support the show
WAITING FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES 25.07.2024 1:26
The Enchanted Pathway is just below the Labyrinth, and it is full of little figures to stir the imagination of children. It can also help adults recapture the magic of their childhood. Support the show
SUMMER EVENINGS IN THE MOUNTAINS 24.07.2024 1:31
People have been coming here to the mountains for over 150 years to escape the heat in the cities during the summer. It is an opportunity to rejuvenate their souls as they prepare for the changing season ahead. Support the show
PINK STEEPLEBRUSH 23.07.2024 1:23
There is a three-foot-tall unassuming wildflower I see along the trails in bloom this time of year called pink steeplebrush. It reminds me of people that go about their lives almost hidden from others, who make special contributions to the nature of life. Support the show
FIRST HINTS OF CHANGE 22.07.2024 1:22
To me the sumac blossoms are one of the first hints that summer is beginning to slowly make a transition into the fall. The cool nights after a heat wave also do the same. When we are aware of each day, we are also aware of all the changes in life that are constantly happening. Support the show
HOPE FOR THE FUTURE 21.07.2024 1:12
There are a couple of high bush blueberries close to the Cabin that have some maturing fruit. The hope is that we harvest some muffins soon unless the birds get to them first. There are people currently creating a crop of positivity with the hope that it will help create a caring future. Support the show
DAYLILY PARADE 20.07.2024 1:28
For many years I have always wanted to have enough varieties of daylilies to create a parade of blooms all summer long, and now that is happening. Many people dream or hope for things that never happen because they shut off the energy of attraction by focusing on why it will not happen. Support the show
LOW MAINTENANCE GARDENING 18.07.2024 1:44
As I have mentioned many times before, my wife has a special “garden” outside her office window. It is filled with low maintenance garden sculptures. She has allergies and this is her way to enjoy Nature. We do not have to work hard at everything in life to enjoy it. Support the show
FILLED TO THE RIM 18.07.2024 1:34
A friend who is also a professional gardener recently planted the wooden container to the rim in Barbara’s section of the Ormond Gardens. This act of kindness filled my heart to the rim with gratitude. Support the show
NEW ENGLAND TRADITION 17.07.2024 1:26
There is a tradition in New England and perhaps other places where people decorate their lawn with pink flamingos. Part of the fun is decorating a friend’s yard when they are not home. It is good to have whimsical elements in our lives, something to help us smile. Support the show
COUNTING THE SHADES OF GREEN 16.07.2024 1:22
Milton Erickson told a patient once to go out and count the shades of green in grass. I assume the person was stuck in just one view of life. The lesson is that life itself has many different shades, and no one sees it the same way. Support the show
WHEN TRANSPLANTS PAY OFF 15.07.2024 1:27
Ten years ago I dug up some hydrangeas from the grounds of the local historical society when the building was moved. Now I am enjoying beautiful white blooms. It can take time to establish transplants whether in nature or in positive ideas and actions. Support the show
INFORMATION FROM THE SKY 14.07.2024 1:26
A lot of people, including myself, look to the sky for information that might give them guidance in life. There is a term called cloud scrying, where one lets their eyes go out of focus so their unconscious mind can come into focus with information from their Source. Support the show
IN THE PINK 13.07.2024 1:18
The pink spirea, a shrub we have had for fifty years, keeps spreading, and now we have three of them established at the Center. If you prune the blooms after they have gone by, they will come back. “In the pink”, is a very positive phrase we can apply in life all year long. Support the show
PENNY'S ROSE 12.07.2024 1:31
Thirty years ago my father-in-law passed away, and that summer a small wild rose started to grow outside our window. We believe it was a gift from the Other Side. I also believe other people get signs of love from the Other Side when they pay attention to them. Support the show
THE BROOD IS EXPANDING 11.07.2024 1:04
The hens and chickens continue to expand their presence each year in the gardens at the Center. I think of people who set about intending to do positive acts of kindness each day and how these acts expand and are taken up by others who expand them again. Support the show
