It being St. Patrick’s Day, I was on the lookout for Leprechaun footprints in the green moss and their pot of gold, but the snow was still hiding them. However, I realized there was gold in the beautiful sunsets I see and with positive words I hear. The sun is nearly at its halfway point in its northward movement. At this time it is aligned with our leaded glass window’s sun created for us by a gifted artist. I had heard on the news that there was going to be a full moon eclipse in the middle of the night, and I woke up at the right time and attempted to take some photos. Although they were all blurry, I was able to witness this fascinating event. I keep watch of the changes taking place on the mountainside as spring continues its march through March. Melting is now evident under the larger trees. I am also watching the changes in people who are realizing they may have a positive purpose to their lives, spreading love and support for others. The energy forces of nature are ramping up the flow. The water in the brook is increasing, and from under the ground all the plants are beginning to start their spring push. As mating time for turkeys approaches, it is an interesting study to watch mature males vie for King of the Hill. In life people that are ego driven often want to be the one who controls others. Like with the turkeys, the kings are usually dethroned. The March weather here in the mountains is like riding a roller-coaster. Sometimes it is winter and sometimes it is spring. Life has a lot of mood swings, too. I looked out a window in the middle of a rainstorm, and to my amazement saw a severed icy hand trying to hold its grip on winter. To me, it was the indication that nature is moving on into spring. A pair of ravens perched on a limb outside my window, probably looking for some food. Ravens are interesting birds and make many different vocal sounds as they communicate with each other. It is amazing how much technology has changed over the years. When I was young, I learned to use a compass to help me navigate in the woods. Now there is GPS. The sun shining on the tree cast a long shadow on the white snow. It made the tree appear very tall. After I survived being hit by a car several years ago, people with the gift of sight tell me there is something behind me that is very tall. When we look at a tree from a distance, all we see is the general shape. When we get closeup, we can see all the different components that make up the whole. The same thing is true in life. The woodpeckers are hard at work getting nourishment out of insect riddled trees from dawn to dusk. I seldom see them unless I am in the woods, but I see the results after their work is done. My son took out our 60-year-old bathtub and left it on the ground outside. We offered to give it away for free, but no one was interested until now when it was buried in the snow and filled with ice. On a winter morning drive, we decided to stop by the beach at the end of our town’s beautiful lake which has a peaceful view of the mountains. Several people were walking their dogs or playing in the snow. Several weeks ago I lost one of my favorite gloves, and I searched all over for it. The other day I noticed that the entryway was very cold and wondered if the heat pipe had frozen.
