The little brook that normally flows down the mountain and is the subject of many podcasts is currently bone dry. Bone dry is an old term that describes conditions of being void of any moisture. Sometimes our minds can dry up of any creative thoughts. I often encounter different symbols which remind me that I do not travel on my Soul’s path alone. A heart symbol is my predominate one. I know I am surrounded with love. In the process of looking for the perfect drag to improve the trails, we were given a bed spring to tow behind the Cat. It worked for a while until the trail became too rough for it. I think we all have moments in our lives we think our thoughts are absolutely brilliant. A little later they may not seem to be so bright. My question to myself is, where did the thoughts come from, my ego or from the Source? Recently Lori brought and planted three beautiful additions to the Ormond Gardens that are already contributing color to their new environment. Our beautiful mountains have been covered over by smoke coming from Canadian wildfires. A lot of people are having trouble catching their breath. The steeple brush, a wild pink flowering bushy type flower looks as if should be kept in the kitchen to scrub out narrow neck bottles. It provides all kinds of opportunities for my mind to wander as I escape for a few moments into nature. Bigleaf asters are now in bloom and should last all the way to the first frost. I am so grateful to Nature for allowing my heart to be filled with joy, whether I experience it firsthand or see a picture of its beauty. My favorite place to pause and take a breath is when I look at the mountains beyond the Orchard to the West. It never gets old. There are many people who never quiet their minds and forget to breathe, which causes them to feel anxious and stressed. The ferns are maturing, and that means it won’t be long before the transition to autumn will begin. It is time to reflect on the summer while enjoying August as you set your intentions for the fall. August is one of those months where I begin to sum up the summer and try to escape as much as possible on a warm afternoon, to visit the cabin on top of the mountain. I may not be there long, but I always come back feeling refreshed and in tune with life. I have really enjoyed the Ormond Gardens this year”, and I realize that is still a work in progress with many more additions anticipated. However, “work is a heavy word, and I prefer to use “play” instead. I know that when the goldenrod have begun to bloom that we are entering the golden period of summer, a time to set one’s intentions to enjoy every day, to reflect and begin to plan for autumn and beyond. The common tansy is a flowering plant that grows up to six feet tall. It is an imposing presence in the Ormond Garden. That is not common to me. Many people seem to live just a common life to those who do not know them. A couple of years ago I put some fill around a couple of boulders on the edge of the parking area at the Center. This year there is a clump of tall yellow flowers growing there. When we sow seeds of positivity with purpose, it could produce a clump of others joining in on the goal. www.michaelhathaway.com/message-from-the-mountain Support the show

Lori recently planted the old barrel in Ormond Gardens with some annuals. It reminds me of people that may have stale old views of life, but always have the opportunity to change negative thoughts to revitalize their lives. The blossoms of the double orange lilies signal that it is time to spend a moment, an hour, a day, or a vacation during the height of the summer season. Wouldn’t it be great if we all had a drawer full of zippers to put over our mouths when we were about to say something that might be taken the wrong way? Sometime even with the best of positive intentions, the words just slip out. I have been a fan of daylilies for as long as I can remember. Each blossom lasts a day, and the plant usually only flowers for a week or so. Now there are varieties that bloom longer.
