Teenage and young adult cancers is a topic we have not spoken about before. Although rare, cancer can still affect individuals in the age group 13 to 24 and this accounts for just under 1% of all cancers.  Sandy & Malcolm talk through some of the signs to look out for.

There are four common types, affecting around 8,600 people in the UK. Signs and symptoms of leukaemia and blood cancers generally are notoriously vague and non-specific so listen to find out more.

The message in this podcast is that if you notice the presence of blood when you are not expecting it, please go and seek advice from a healthcare professional.  It may be caused by something simple, but it could be the first indication of a developing tumour. We know that early diagnosis and early treatment, whatever the cause, leads to better outcomes.

Although it is not the most common form of cancer, over 7,000 people are diagnosed in the UK each year with this type of cancer, so it’s important to know a little more about the signs and symptoms and to visit your GP if you have concerns.
