I Know a Guy Podcast
Every man knows a guy. The one who looks fine on the outside but is falling apart inside. Angry. Numb. Distant. I know that guy too - because that guy was me. Every man needs a guy who gets it. You’re not the only one holding it together by a thread. I’m Steve Cummings, and this is I Know a Guy - conversations for men who are done pretending. It’s not content for content’s sake. It’s the entry point for men who would never fill out a form for mentoring or walk into a small group cold. It’s an open door to honesty - the voice before the visit.

Ep. 85 - Why Do We Wait for Life to Crash? 27.03.2026 5:35
Why do we wait until life explodes before we change? Why do we tolerate slow drift in our marriage, our health, our faith — until something crashes hard enough to wake us up? In Luke 15, the prodigal son didn’t “come to his senses” until he was starving in a pigpen. But what if he didn’t have to wait for famine? What if we don’t either? This episode of I Know a Guy is an honest conversation about...

Ep. 81 - Unwavering Part 1: Seated, Not Shaken 23.03.2026 4:24
Most men think unwavering means trying harder. It doesn’t. It means being seated. If you’ve been feeling shaken in your identity, this conversation is for you. And if you’d like help learning how to live seated — not striving — I offer 1...
Ep. 80 - Safely to Shore 20.03.2026 4:59
Paul didn’t lose his identity when the storm hit—he lived from it. In Acts 27, chained and exhausted, Paul becomes the calmest man on the ship. Not because the storm stopped—but because he knew who he belonged to. The ship went down. The promise didn’t. This episode of I Know a Guy explores what it looks like to live from your identity as a beloved son when everything feels like it’s breaking apar...
Ep. 79 - Heart - Healing - Holiness 19.03.2026 4:55
Many men believe holiness is something they must achieve to earn God’s approval. But that belief quietly fuels striving, exhaustion, and shame. In this episode of I Know a Guy, we flip the script. Holiness doesn’t come from trying harder—it flows from being loved. When identity is rooted in beloved sonship, healing begins… and holiness grows naturally. If you’ve been living from performance instea...
Ep. 78 - The Father's Heart 18.03.2026 5:42

Not on probation. Wanted. Chosen. Loved. In today’s I Know a Guy episode, we talk about the Father’s heart Why adoption is not second-best. Why God’s pleasure isn’t earned, and How a secure attachment to a loving Fat...
Ep. 77 - Provision Already Exists 17.03.2026 5:25
What if the pressure you’re carrying isn’t actually yours to hold? So many men are exhausted—not because they’re incapable—but because they’ve quietly believed they are the source. The provider. The fixer. The answer. But Scripture tells us something radically freeing: before the pressure… the provision already existed. In this episode of I Know a Guy we dismantle the lie that it all depends on yo...

Ep. 75 - Belonging Comes Before Believing 13.03.2026 6:10

This one is for you skeptics, seekers, and men who grew up around church but never felt at home. If today's...
Ep. 74 - BE.LOVED. 12.03.2026 5:40
Most men don’t struggle with belief—they struggle with belonging. Ep. 73 - Awareness Series Part 5: Awareness, Sonship and Living a Present Life 11.03.2026 4:37
Sonship isn’t something you think your way into. It’s something you experience. Scripture says the Spirit testifies with our spirit—not our theology. In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore why awareness reconnects us to the place where God’s love is received, how presence replaces performance, and how small daily practices help men live as sons instead of strivers. If you’re tired of performi...
Ep. 72 - Awareness Series Part 4: Escape or Presence? 10.03.2026 7:06
When emotions go unrecognized, men don’t slow down—they look for relief. Sometimes that relief looks obvious. Sometimes it looks productive, successful, or even spiritual. But escape is escape. In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore the moment in Genesis where hiding begins, why men cope instead of feel, and how awareness—not willpower—is what actually leads to freedom. If you’re noticing pat...

In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore moments where Jesus names His sorrow, allows Himself to grieve, and refuses to bypass His inner world in the name of faith. What we discover is this: awareness doesn’t weaken a man—it anchors him. If you’re realizing you’ve sp...

Ep. 69 - Awareness Series Part 1: The Unaware Heart 05.03.2026 4:58
Most men are good thinkers. But very few of us know what’s happening inside our hearts. When emotions surface—anxiety, anger, sadness—we don’t slow down and listen. We react. We numb. We perform. He is introduced in Scripture as “a man of standing,” not because of what he achieves, but because of who he is. His strength doesn’t create pressure; it creates safety. He notices, protects, and provides—without demanding anything in...
