Religion EN ↓ 162 episodes

Every man knows a guy. The one who looks fine on the outside but is falling apart inside. Angry. Numb. Distant. I know that guy too - because that guy was me. Every man needs a guy who gets it. You’re not the only one holding it together by a thread. I’m Steve Cummings, and this is I Know a Guy - conversations for men who are done pretending. It’s not content for content’s sake. It’s the entry point for men who would never fill out a form for mentoring or walk into a small group cold. It’s an open door to honesty - the voice before the visit.

Ep. 60 - What Do You Boast In? 20.02.2026

What do you boast about? Most men would never say it out loud — but we all live from something that tells us who we are. Wisdom. Strength. Success. Being needed. Being respected. In Jeremiah 9, God confronts the false places we build identity and offers a better one: Knowing Him. Today on I Know a Guy, Steve Cummings challenges men where you’ve been boasting — and invites you back to the freedom o...

Ep. 59 - Present-Day Pharisees: When Faith Becomes Performance 19.02.2026

What does a present-day Pharisee look like—and how do we avoid becoming one? In this episode of I Know a Guy, host Steve Cummings explores how faith quietly shifts from relationship to performance, how identity gets built on rule-keeping instead of sonship, and why Jesus reserved His strongest words for religious people who refused inner transformation. This isn’t about lowering biblical standards...

Ep. 58 - Hit the Pause Button: From Reaction to Awareness 18.02.2026

We don’t usually destroy relationships on purpose—we do it in reaction. In this episode of I Know a Guy, host Steve Cummings introduces a powerful new framework for men who want to slow down, grow in awareness, and respond with wisdom instead of emotion. Learn how Clarity, Conviction, and Confirmation can help you hear the Father’s voice, seek wise counsel, and protect your relationships with your...

Ep. 57 - When Doing Replaces Being 17.02.2026

We live in a world that rewards productivity, performance, and constant motion—even in our faith. In Luke 10, Martha is busy serving Jesus, while Mary is sitting at His feet. One is doing everything right… and still feels anxious and unseen. The other chooses presence—and Jesus calls it “the better portion.” In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore the tension between doing and being, and how o...

Ep. 56 - The Centurion Who Trusted From a Distance 16.02.2026

He was a Roman centurion—an outsider with authority, power, and control. But when the thing he loved most was at risk, he didn’t demand Jesus show up. He didn’t ask for proof. He simply trusted the authority of His word. Jesus called it great faith. In this episode of I Know a Guy, we explore the centurion who believed healing could happen without proximity—and what that kind of trust means for me...

Ep. 55 - Whole-Hearted Living Part 5: From Striving to Abiding 13.02.2026

Spiritual striving can look holy—but it still leaves many men exhausted, frustrated, and disconnected. Doing more for God is not the same as living with God. In the final episode of the Whole-Hearted Living series on I Know a Guy, host Steve Cummings reframes spirituality through the lens of abiding rather than performing. He talks about identity, intimacy, and why true spiritual growth flows from...

Ep. 54 - Whole-Hearted Living Part 4: Strong Alone is Still Alone 12.02.2026

Men are often surrounded by people yet deeply unknown. We talk about work, sports, and ideas—but avoid vulnerability and truth. Ep. 53 - Whole-Hearted Living Part 3: Stuffed Emotions Don't Disappear 11.02.2026

Most men weren’t taught how to feel—they were taught how to stuff. Sadness felt weak, fear felt dangerous, and anger became the only acceptable emotion. In this episode of I Know a Guy, host Steve Cummings addresses the emotional dimension of whole-hearted living. He talks about why emotional suppression fractures identity, how unprocessed emotions leak into our lives, and why emotional awareness...

Ep. 52 - Whole-Hearted Living Part 2: You Are Not Your Thoughts 10.02.2026

Men are strong thinkers—but strong thinking without emotional awareness often leads to control, not freedom. Not every thought deserves belief, and not every internal narrative reflects truth. In this episode of I Know a Guy, Steve continues the whole-hearted living series by unpacking the mental dimension of identity. He explores how thoughts shape identity, why many men live trapped in unchallen...

Ep. 51 - Whole-Hearted Living Part 1: Your Body is Not a Tool, It's a Temple 09.02.2026

Most men treat their bodies like machines—push harder, sleep less, ignore the pain, and call it discipline. But what if strength isn’t about overriding your body… but stewarding it? In this episode of I Know a Guy, host Steve kicks off a five-day series on whole-hearted living by exploring the physical dimension of identity. He talks about why many men disconnect from their bodies, how that affect...

Ep. 46 - The Dignity of Seasons 02.02.2026

In part two of my Home Depot story on I Know A Guy, I talk about hidden seasons—the quiet, unseen places where dignity is restored, not lost. I share the difference between humility and humiliation, how the Father speaks louder than the enemy in obscurity, and why faithfulness matters more than visibility. Ab...

Ep. 45 - What Home Depot Taught Me About Identity 30.01.2026

I never expected losing my highest-paying job would lead me to Home Depot. After being abruptly let go as a Chief Development Officer, fear set in fast. Bills. Mortgage. Identity. I took a job as a Head Cashier making $13 an hour—and that’s where the Father met me in a way I didn’t expect. In this episode of I Know a Guy, I share how the Father gently dismantled my belief that my worth was tied to...

If life feels chaotic or your heart feels unse...

In this special I Know a Guy redemptive stories episode, host Steve Cummings sits down with Drew Powell, a pastor’s kid who grew up in church, led worship, and worked in what he calls “the family business.” From the outside, it looked solid.
