The more you find out about Jesus, the more He forces you to make a decision about Him. Is He crazy looney or is He who says He is.

A metaphor is the mention of something that helps you imagine what something else is like. The Bible often uses metaphors, such as in John chapter 6 where Jesus describes Himself as the "bread of life." It encourages us to look beyond the physical and the immediate, to the spiritual and the eternal.

The evidence that Jesus of Nazareth is God in a human body is overwhelmingly convincing. But how are you going to respond to this? The options are faith or unbelief.

What happens to our souls after we die is not a gamble. Jesus says we can know right now what our eternal destiny is - and it's all linked to whether we believe Jesus is who He says He is, and place our faith and trust in Him for our salvation. That's why God the Father, sent God the Son into the world as a man - to be a Saviour of souls!

This passage looks at how Paul encourages the Colossians to be working out the Gospel in their community of believers, both in the church and in the home. Our communities may look different in the here and now, but we are always in need of the Gospel to change us and equip us to live together in the way God intended.

While our salvation relies on the goodness of Jesus not the goodness of ourselves, living as a Christian means we can now put off old sinful ways of living. The Apostle Paul likens it to a change of clothing - taking off the old and putting on the new.

It is very easy to become confused between the Gospel of grace and how we should live after we've become a Christian - or, to use big words, between justification and sanctification. In this passage, Paul exhorts the Colossians not to go back to rule keeping as a means of their salvation.

The driving passion of the Apostle Paul was to proclaim the Gospel and see people transformed by their relationship with Jesus. But it came at a cost. He reminds us therefore that Gospel work is not done in our own strength, but by the power of Christ in us!

This passage is one of the best New Testament descriptions of who Jesus is. But it has often been interpreted and explained badly. The bottom line is, Jesus is supreme over all things, and salvation is found in Him alone!

Paul has heard some encouraging things about the church at Colosae, but he doesn't start this letter by praising and thanking them, rather He gives thanks to God for what the Gospel is doing in their lives: the Good News is being proclaimed, lives are being changed, and love is being expressed in actions.

When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem for the Passover celebration, He found that Jewish worship of God was tainted by compromise and a loss of focus. The Temple has now gone, but the temptation to compromise and lose focus remains.

This well known passage about the wedding in Cana describes the first time that Jesus revealed His glory to His disciples. Be careful though, it is easy to be side-tracked with other issues!

In this passage, John gives us an insight into the process of the gathering of the first disciples; and we should find it instructive and challenging. As people become believers in Jesus, they participate in the process by introducing their friends, family and others to Jesus as well.

Jesus described John the Baptist as the greatest of the prophets, and yet it's not often that we think of him this way. So, why is he great? Possibly because he humbly strived to deflect any attention that was directed at him so that instead, he could make much of Jesus - the anointed One of God.

The start of the Gospel of Jesus according to John does not pull any punches. John makes his intentions very clear. He wants us to know that Jesus is not just some historical figure from the past. Rather, He is the second person of the Trinity, all things were created through Him, and He came into the world to save sinners. So, where do you stand with Jesus?
