V'Ger Please!

At long last we have reached the docking pylon so we can provide the end-of-season wrap up you all love! The DS9 Season 4 RIP is here and it's is a long episode for a reason. What was good? What was bad? Who gave Sisko a run for his money? What other awards do we hand out? Listen and find out!

When Odo comes down with a bad case of a low poly count, there is only one place he can go for help as we wrap up Season 4 with our review of "Broken Link". In this super-sized episode we go deep on everything - from Gowron's motives, O'Brien's new domestic prolems, and Garak's sudden ability to throw hands at high-tier level!

Oi Gevalt, what is a good faithful Ferengi to do when you when a schlemiel of a doctor gives you a bad terminal diagnosis? Well, Quark finds out the hard way as we review "Body Parts"! As the Federation's favorite bartender finds out just how deep Brunt's hatred of him runs, we see an entirely different 'binding contract' be forged as the writers find a very clever way to write in Nana Vistor's IR...

We see the dire result of the Dominion making an example of a whole planet as we review "The Quickening"! When Julian goes into a wrecked planet with a genetic plague, he expects to have it all wrapped up in a week or two like every other Starfleet doctor-wizard. However, when things don't go accoring to plan, we get a deep story about arrogance, nobility in suffering, and the dread of what fate t...

Between the deep discussions on Jem'Hadar life and O'Brien's familiarity with the wild habits of Klingon women, your hosts finish thir discussion of every detial in "To The Death"! While Sisko tries to keep a small ship filled with murder hobos on track, Dax gets complimented for her graceful aging, Worf once again shows his character flaw is 'getting into fights in front of his boss', and Peter f...

Our good friend Jeff Combs finally arrives in his most iconic Trek role in thisfirst part of our discussion on "To The Death"! We dig deep on every nuiance of this episode as we respect the discussions put on the table by the show itself, from Federation defense posture, Starfleet's increasing need to treat itself as a millitary, Sisko's place as a war leader, and of course the arrival of Weyoun.

At long last the not-at-all-suspicious Commander Eddington definitly does not betray everyone as we review "For the Cause"! While the movie start guest star manages his heist of a bunch of Big Ol' Replicators, Sisko has to deal with possibly having to put his girlfriend in jail. Meanwhile there is a B pplot no one wanted or asked for, but it has Garak in it so it it's not all bad.

In this extremely odd, very TNG, and not all bad experience, your hosts spend most of their time telling you how they would have re-written this week's episode, "The Muse"!  Our girl Lwaxana deserved better than this (perhaps she shouldn't have written it), and despite it having it's moments, there was a much better episode just waiting for them to have made. But what do we know, right?

Another season, another vacation day for the captain as we review "Shattered Mirror". We dive deep on the concepts behind the Mirror Universe, particuarly Feral Historian's video on the concept, as the Sisko's fufill some long held desires. For Jake, it's to hang out with his Kinda Evil Mom, for Ben, it's once again to commit as much violence as possible. Boy  sure hope this one has a happy ending...

The most difficult time all of us do is wrestling with the monster we fear we could become as we review the excellent "Hard Time". When Miles gets forced to play the worst Choose Your Own Adventure of all time, he is stuck with the memory of 20 years of prison. With his MK Ultra abilities now a hindrance, the Chief gets help from all his friends to cope. In the end, is O'Brien unique or is he just...

Never before have your two hosts had such differing opinions as we put "Rules of Engagement" on the stand! Joseph thinks it's a good attempt at making Starfleet more of a millitary organization while furthering Worf's story, while Peter hated it because he thought the 'evil plan' was too weak. Is Peter just too talented at human manipulation to enjoy it for what it is, or is Joseph too eager to ma...

We get another one of those great hidden DS9 bangers as we review "Accession". When Sisko finds a mild mannered guest star in a Faster Than Lumber, he seems to have a clean out on being Space Elijah. However, when the new guys turns out to be a bit too in to old timey Bajoran racisim he has to finally decide if actually belives in what is happening to him. Meanwhile, The Best Wife in Starfleet wan...

If you are the kind of person who appreciates a deep conversation on the nature of 24th Century utopian life, the anatomy of a space coup, and if a man would be idealistic enough to run a restaurant with no profit motive, you have come to the right podcast! Join us on this special episode as we do a deep dive on the Season 4 Episodes "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost" with the ever-generous Feral His...

We get the funny side of negotiating a Collective Bargining Agreement as we review "Bar Association"! When Dr. Bashir accidentaly violates the Prime Directive and introduces Rom to Marxisim, it isn't long before things begin to escalate. Brunt shows up with Naussicans! Quark gets charged rent! Also Worf starts a barfight over his living arrangements? Uh...sure!

Worf finds out that being Klingon nobility isn't all it's cracked up to be as we review "Sons of Mogh"! All that Kling-ron backstory comes back to haunt our newest Deep Sheetz Nine officer as his brother Kurn shows up with a dire request. We dig deep on Worf realizing how human he has become, the uncounted consequences of his actions, and just how many serious felonies Sisko is going to let slide...

The most enertianing one-sided romantic plotline in TV history kicks into high gear as we review "Return to Grace"! When Kira hitches a ride on her least favorite Cardassian's busted hooptie. she and Dukat are forced to the most awkward co-parenting relationship of all time. When the Klingons show up long enough to make them both mad, Kira teaches him a few terror tactics, he decides to kill all h...

The Tower of Dour earns his name as Peter hates on "Crossfire", an episode Joseph thinks is very good and didn't do anything wrong. We dig deep on legitimiate flaws - Shakaar kinda sucks - but is Sad Odo really as bad as Peter says? Or is Joseph right that this is a unique episode demonstrating the character's depth? Listen and decide for yourself!

When Sisko runs the old Lion in Winter play and Odo lays down karate chops, your hosts go deep on everything from the anatomy of coups to cadet jawlines as we review "Paradise Lost"! This episode really has everything – betrayal, deceit, plucky trickster 'Miles', real coffee, and the true opening moves to a story that is just beginning.

Your hots continue their in depth discussion of the the trials of utopia as we conclude our discussion of "Homefront"! We confront many of the key questions DS9 seeks to ask as we consider if the Federation - and especialy Earth - has gone soft. Starfleet might see a lot of space madness, but the people of Earth didn't sign up for this! As 24th Century security theater begins, we ask if the Change...

Your hosts begin to tackle the most seismic shift of Berman-era Trek as we begin our review of "Homefront". In this first part of our discussion we tackle a number of fundamental issues with Starfleet, the nature of the Dominion threat, the ability (or willingness) of a pacifist Federation to accept the necessity of war, and why in the world Dax committing a Breaking and Entering is somehow the B...

Joseph is shaken, but Peter is not stirred as we review the episode made for your wyes only, "Our Man Bashir". While one host is oriented towards letting it live, the other might as well let it die! When Garak gets insight into Bashir's fantasy life, it sure is a a view to a kill, as the good doctor enjoys is Octopussy, but soon a space dilema hits where the crew will infact not live twice...but o...

Good news everyone, Dax finally has some agency, it's just in someone else's plot as we review "The Sword of Khaless"! What could have been a very good an interesting idea is utterly wasted by absurdly rushing it as Kor, Worf, and Dax have their little adventure together. Turns out the major cplaint we had with this one is the same complaint the had back in 1995, so some things never change!

Nothing quite like a below rate Ferengi Nonsense Episode to get your hosts talking about litterally anything else as we do our best to review "Little Green Men". After discussing the true A plot of Ferengi racisim, we don't have much to say about this goofball slop. However, if you want our deep opinions about Star Trek: United, this is absolutly the episode for you!

Once perma-locked behind our Patreon walls, sometimes the ediotr of this podcast needs a break....which means sometimes years old content can make it's debut on the grand stage! Years ago, your hosts followed up on the strangest in-joke our show ever had about a single Season 5 episode of Voyager and bad mid 90's comic book films and reviewed "Tank Girl"! Your hosts really did not enjoy this. We m...

Whats old can be new again as we review the stikingly familiar "Starship Down"! Listen, sometimes immitation can both be flattery and pretty dang good when we hit the replay button on a TNG favorite, switch up what Worf and O'Brien were doing, add in some James Cromwell getting addicted to gambling by Quark, and sprinkle in some "Das Boot" for good measure.
