The Upon Further Review

It feels like it’s been a long time since we got some GOT, but here we are! A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms drops 1/18/26 and during NYCC we got the official teaser trailer! The tall tale that became a legend is the tagline, as we see Sir Duncan the Tall and another Aegon making their way through one of our favorite worlds to explore. With HOTD S3 dropping next summer, this six episode series will...

One Battle After Another is a movie that packs so much stuff in it, that you would think it would be doing way too much. However, this movie balances nearly every current issue we are dealing with in America in this fictional masterpiece. Teyana Taylor, Leonardo DiCaprio, Wood Harris, Regina Hall, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Tony Goldwyn, and Chase Infiniti, are among the many players in this mov...

We reviewed Peacemaker Season 2, episodes 5 and 6 together, and Chris is very ignorant of his surroundings. The alternate dimension secret gets revealed, Vigilante likes to save things, Adebayo thinks she’s Jill Scott and wants to take a long walk, Economos can’t keep a secret, and Harcourt takes a ride. In the comments, let us know if the twist actually surprised you. www.theuponfurtherreview.com...

In the season finale, we actually have cliffhangers and unanswered questions! The Lost Boys are finally growing up, Morrow looks like Martin when he fought The Hitman Hearns, Kirsch and Eins get put in their place, and the biggest Boy has been off his meds. In the comments, let us know what them to explore in season two. Will get some reference to the greater franchise, Predator sighting, will the...

Him (2025) dropped and we discuss what we liked, disliked, and were totally confused by when it come to this MonkeyPaw Production joint. Great acting can’t make up for some obvious storytelling shortcomings and visual can’t outweigh the verbal. We also get into some news from Spider-Man Brand New Day, FCC nightmare via Jimmy Kimmel and Disney, and some DC news. www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: the...

In the penultimate episode of Alien: Earth, we have the emergence of a new chest-burster, Yutani Seal Team 6, what Kirsch’s plan was all along, and what could easily mark the demise of our favorite trillionaire, Boy Kavalier. The odds are clearly not in anyone’s favor, as the Lost Boys all experience their loss of innocence at the same time. In the comments, let us know who’s the bigger menace: Ki...

These two episodes of Peacemaker are two drastically different pieces of work, that are still aligned with the overall premise of the show so far: will Peaemaker give in to his wants to be loved or his need to deal with his hurt. From a competent Chris getting showered with love in the alt-dimension, to his love (allegedly) dropping a dime on him in the real world. In the words of Paramore, “Ain’t...

In another awesome episode of Alien: Earth, the disrespect is being doled out on many fronts. Wendy is upset, Boy plays with his feet in a meeting, her brother suddenly would like to leave the island, Morrow is whispering to Slightly, toodles to Tootles (Arthur too), and Kirsch is the real threat! www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upon Further Review TikTok: theuponfurt...

This flashback episode of Alien: Earth gives us what we all wanted: on Alien movie on the small screen. We finally get some backstory for our favorite company man Morrow, we get to see how the crew meets their untimely demise, and new Yutani has cool, futuristic praetorian guards. www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upon Further Review TikTok: theuponfurtherreview #aliene...

This show toes the line with humor and heart, because there are some incredibly funny bits. Some scenes are very hard to watch, but James Gunn strikes a balance between ridiculous and serious. Peacemaker is still cleaning up from his super fun adult time and altercation with his alternate universal self. The 11th St Gang have the most odd kickback ever. Tim Meadows is still the goat of deadpan com...

While episode four is light on action, it’s heavy on plotting, because everyone is trying to jockey for position. The Lost Boys are simultaneously finding their way and losing their minds. Boy Kavalier and Morrow have one terrible thing in common. Meanwhile, Kirsch is probably the smartest and most clever being on this show. www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upon Furthe...

The premiere of Peacemaker Season 2 did it’s best “The Boys” impression, while showing us the crew is (or not) handling the ramifications of how season one concluded. Peacemaker aka Chris Smith can only handle his brokenness is by ostensibly cosplaying as himself. www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upon Further Review TikTok: theuponfurtherreview #peacemaker #johncena #j...

Episode 3 of Alien: Earth pulls back and explains what’s happening to the best character on the show, Morrow. Boy Kavalier is upping the creep factor, we have our first inkling of a sibling rivalry and the adults on the show (Kirsch included) voices are not being fully heard. Oh yeah, we get a Yutani update from Yutani herself. www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upon Fur...

Alien: Earth on FX is a demonstration on how to correctly expand the lore of a franchise. With a cast of all new characters, we embark on the return of the Maginot and trouble is afoot. The species are the mission and they just happened upon a xenomorph. Of course, people are going to meet their maker. www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upon Further Review TikTok: theupo...

Eyes of Wakanda chronicles the story of the War Dogs, as they have been the ones to retrieve vibranium that has slipped into the hands of “outsiders” over the millennia. We have four uniquely different stories that act as a through line, until they all end up converging “What If” style. Which episode was your favorite of the series. www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upo...

It’s been 10 years since the debacle that was fan4stic and we thought Micheal B. Jordan would never be in a comic book movie again. Fantastic Four: First Steps is a celebration of Marvel’s first family in a way that honors the legend of Jack Kirby and illustrates the determination of Kevin Feige. Matt Shakman (friend of the pod) directs this visually stunning homage to the space race 60’s, world o...

The MCU had a very uneven phase 5 and with phase 6 upon with Fantastic Four: First Steps, we decided to come together and rank each property from the current phase. Starting with Quantumania and ending with Ironheart, we ranked them all! If you have an S-tier rank for phase 5, or if you disagree, put your rankings in the comments! www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upon...

Clipse: Let God Sort ‘Em Out, album rollout and subsequent release has been nothing short of perfect! The album definitely harkens back to a much simpler time in our lives and evokes feelings of unrequited hip hop nostalgia. No Malice hasn’t missed a beat, Pusha T is still mad at people he doesn’t like, and Pharrell has his best production outing in a minute! www.theuponfurtherreview.com IG: theup...

This is the beginning of the DCU’s foray into a shared universe and Superman is first at bat. We’ll be discussinour initial impressions of the movie and we will be spoiling the entirety of James Gunn’s love letter to the immigrant alien in tights and a cape!  The Justice Gang, Mr Terrific, and all the other characters in this film really are masterfully handled and will give way to the next projec...

In what is most likely the series finale of Ironheart, we get several tie-ins to the greater MCU with the mystic arts, Kamar-Taj, and Dr. Strange being mentioned. We have some more magic users in the series, The Hood’s hood is from a different place and time, and we actually get the most evil entity ever in the MCU, chopping it up over some pizza. IG: theuponfurtherreview FB: The Upon Further Revi...

After the success of Top Gun: Maverick, the creative team swapped actors and modes of transportation to make basically the same movie. And we can’t lie, the formula works! F1: The Movie is the epitome of a summertime movie: beautiful people, action, a grizzled vet, a young brash upstart, and a little bit of sabotage. Brad Pitt and Damson Idris have to work together in a tale as old as time: will t...

Fresh outta Wakanda, Riri Williams aka Ironheart, is back home in Chicago and she is full of ambition, but a very light on cash. She seemingly has to navigate feelings of failure, grief, her socioeconomic status, and her sense of morality as she strives to be most influential person on Earth. Is her willingness to make a difference being blinded by the lengths she willing to take to see her dreams...

This unexpected banger of an anthology turned interconnected story is one of the best animated movies we’ve seen in a while. Ranging over 3 millennia, we see Predators being having a fun time killing people on Earth, trying to find a good fight. From Vikings, martial artists, and WW2 pilots, this movie proves how you can tell a story that increases a franchise’s lore, without needless dialogue. 0:...

The greatness of Andor and Rogue One is undeniable. The fact that they work so beautifully together is nothing short of masterful. After rewatching Rogue One, The Calrissian Kids talk about how awesome these projects are, as they try to convey how Rogue One is really about Andor, even though Jyn Erso would say otherwise. The season two finale of The Last of Us was a tumultuous ending, culminating into the abject selfishness of Elle. Jesse has to be the voice of reason, as Dina is still sidelined and Ellie is on a one man mission to get her lick back, running past EVERY STOP SIGN telling her to go home.
