The Start of Something New

Ah the leaves are changing color, and there’s a chill in the air, but unfortunately we can’t enjoy any of this fall fun because we have to do a science experiment for school that’s now worth half our final grade. Well hopefully no outside factors come into play and completely change the nature of our work or affect any of our family members. Well hopefully that long winded intro gives you a good i...

Once upon a time there was a girl, she wasn’t a princess, but she was a future queen, and along with her 3 friends this girl would… ah crap, hold on listeners I need to get my charging cord. What, did you think I was reading from a storybook? How lame and old, I’m obviously reading this off an iPad, because we’ve finally hit the modern DCOM classic that started a whole new franchise. We’re finally...

[no listeners you’re not going crazy this is in fact the first time in this shows history that we are officially reuploading an episode, so hopefully this time it’ll stay up for you all to enjoy] Well you know what they say, third times the charm. That’s right listeners it is once again time for us to take a break from the DCOM train as once again present a bonus episode recapping of all the annou...

Well listeners, summer may be coming to an end and the new school year is right around the corner, but we just want to say that we have had the best 3 months ever with you guys. Yes that includes the time we were all sucked into a 1960s beach movie musical. Yeah hopefully that all was enough indication that we’re once again hitting the waves but also learning about who we really want to be by disc...

Oh my gosh you guys we cannot believe the prom is tomorrow already. We already have the perfect outfit and shoes now we just need to figure out the perfect hairstyle. So if you all could just do a quick poll while we stack product on top of product on our hair that would be great. No listeners I am not kidding that is what the first 5 minutes of this movie consists of. Which is to say that we are...

For many years the world’s most brilliant scientists have tried tackling the universe’s greatest mysteries: What is on the other side of a black hole? Is time travel something that could ever be a possibility? Yet one question remains on the top of that list: Why are human boys like that? Okay well maybe that’s not exactly at the top of most scientists list but it certainly is for the protagonists...

Ugh I swear, aren’t boys just the worst? So loud, gross, and unfocused. Well have no fear because for the low low price of… $9.99, and a freak electrical accident, you can now have access to a dog training app that can make boys do whatever you tell them to do, completely against their will! No listeners that is not the log line for a new horror movie about completely subjecting a large amount of...

Listeners let me tell you something, we’re done hiding, now we’re shining, like we’re born to be. We’re dreaming hard, we came so far, now I believe we’re going to be golden. That’s right it’s once again time to celebrate the birthday of one of your wonderful co-hosts by discussing another non-Disney made film. So in honor of Jake’s big day we’re getting our soda pop out and sealing the honmoon as...

Ah the sun is shining the temperature is going up and after our last movie it feels like the perfect time to get into the summer mood, don’t you agree listeners? Well too bad because it’s actually time to bundle up and hit the slopes as we start 2014 on the DCOM journey with the Dove Cameron and Luke Benward led winter sports film, Cloud 9. Though we couldn’t arrive at the lodge alone so we brough...

Oh hey listeners! You’re just in time to join us in watching our favorite movie! You know the one about a boy and a girl from opposing groups who fall in love despite their groups feelings about each other, who ultimately unite said groups to take down a greater evil. Oh no not that one, or that other one. Okay let me just say it, we’re officially making our one and only stop in 2013 on the DCOM t...

When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts… err I mean monsters are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight! Welcome foolish mortal listeners to… well okay it’s technically a haunted mansion but not that haunted mansion. To summarize that...

Alright everyone take your seats, take your seats now. Congregation, I come to you today with a message. A message so powerful you would believe that it came to me straight from a higher power. The message in question, is a thank you for joining us as we continue season 6 by discussing the good word of the 2012 musical DCOM, Let It Shine. Jake keeps wanting to call the main character Chris due to...

Alright sound check is done, music is queued up, and the call in lines are open… is what I would say if we had anywhere near the same setup as the main character in this movie does. Welcome back dear listeners to the season 6 premiere of The Start of Something New! We’re back on the mics and ready to kick off the season by talking all about Radio Rebel, the 2012 DCOM starring the girl who wanted t...

We here at The Start of Something New podcast would like to wish you all a happy holiday, as well as make sure you’re not having any problems or issues with your siblings. Ah welcome back everyone to your favorite podcast hosted by two best, two good friends, who would never think of each other as enemies. Not even if outside factors came into play like say, a new romantic partner, a job opportunity, or a stranger who looks completely identical to us. Nope we would never turn on each other like that, unlike the people in this movie. Yeah that wasn’t one of my best i...

Ah the holidays, what better time to travel across the country to see your loved ones. Just make sure your teenage daughter doesn’t try to get off your flight for the promise of a free airplane ticket to her dream spring break destination that you originally said she couldn’t go to leaving you having to find various ridiculous ways to get to your destination. That’s right it’s time to get our chri...

Listeners, with this hand, we will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, for we will be your wine. With this candle, we will light your way in darkness. With this ring, we ask you to be ours, at least for the duration of this episode. That’s right it is time once again to celebrate the birthday of one of your amazing co-hosts. Although apologies for this being a bit of a belated celebratio...

“Beyond this gate find gardens green and epic worlds to fill your dreams.” Those are the words engraved on the chronos, the entrance to the newest theme park to open in Orlando in over 20 years, and that theme park is Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort. Now if you’ve been listening to this podcast for a while now, heck even from all the way back at the very beginning, then you know that we...

Ah and over here we have one of the most dangerous species in the animal kingdom, the popular high school rich girl. Be careful listeners, one wrong look and she could destroy your entire social life. Okay so maybe this movie isn’t about filming a nature documentary but it’s about a documentary so I had to take the opportunity. That’s right we’re getting our cameras rolling and preparing our accep...

Listeners I know what we’re going to do today, we’re going to accidentally help an evil scientist open a portal to another dimension and find out our dear pet platypus is actually a secret agent. So put on your fedoras and don’t forget to install a self destruct button as we talk the 2011 movie...

Start spreading the news, she’s leaving today. She wants to be part of it, New York, New York! Well if that very musical introduction wasn’t enough to get you in the New York mood listeners then don’t worry as we’re about to hit the big apple and discuss the final movie installment of a beloved DCOM franchise with 2011’s Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure. Though how exactly does this movie stack up to...

Poets, geniuses, revolutionaries, The Start of Something New podcast has been called… well honestly none of these things, but come on that opening narration is way too iconic for me not to reference here. So I hope everyone is ready to turn up the music and crack open a nice cold can of definitely expired lemonade as we talk about the 2011 musical DCOM hit Lemonade Mouth. Jake discusses how this i...

Listeners, lend us your ears as we regal you the tale of King Arthur. Except forget all the cool European medieval knight settings because this version of the story takes place in an American high school. That’s right we’re saying goodbye to 2010 on the DCOM train by discussing the sword wielding, vision having, Arthurian adaption, Avalon High. Jake takes note of the lack of Disney Channel stars i...
