The Outer Reels

Weird Movie = Weird Episode - Great sounds and music though, and apparently, we find out that Jason does not like True Lies? while learning about his career at the Grocery store, working on Hallmark Christmas movies and somehow Freddy Got Fingered, all in the mix. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We're going to take two episodes to cover this German miniseries from 1973. Jason LOVES this while Sam isn't so convinced. Please excuse Jason's wonky sound this episode (just THIS episode?!?) as he apparently doesn't know how to talk into a microphone. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sam loved this movie, but Jason not so much. Fire up this episode to listen to Sam go on about how awesome Ancient Astronauts is. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

As Sam notes, "I didn't have navigator rape on my bingo card", but we still enjoyed this other early Roland Emmerich movie from 1990. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

"Terminus, from 1987. How do you sell this movie?" I don't. It's a mess. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

There's some impressive stuff in this lost movie from communist East Germany. Just don't mind the propaganda. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We start our tour of Germany with Roland Emerich's student film. It's really impressive for what it is, though we're not sure what it is. On a side note: unfortunately the YouTube channel we reference in this episode is already gone. Pour one out... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

"The whole movie, once they're in space, looks like a high school play." Also, Sam claims to be an editor, but he doesn't cut ANYTHING. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This is what happens when you write movies on drugs, kids. Drugs are bad, okay? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Jason is shocked that Sam didn't outright hate this charming British classic staring Obi Wan Kenobi and Alfred Pennyworth. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sam explains why soft-core directors start doing sci-fi and horror in the 70's, which is a lot more interesting than this blatant Alien rip-off. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We try some new software on this one. In the end Sam likes and Jason hates (HATES) it, so feel free to let us know your thoughts. Oh, and we also talk about a British sci-fi movie from 1951 that looks like a stage play. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Blofeld AND Doctor Who in the same movie?!? How could this go wrong? Listen and find out how it does. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Impressive model work can't save this slow movie. As usual, we watch these so you don't have to. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sam loved this one, Jason not so much. It's a flawed and (somewhat) fun mess. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This movie is apparently better than we think it is. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

With something titled, "Agroman the Fantastic Superman" you'd think there is going to be a lot of comic book talk. AND YOU WOULD BE CORRECT, but maybe not as much as you'd assume. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This is not the movie we were expecting, but it's incredible how many other films this has obviously inspired. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It's from 1978, looks like its from 1960, doesn't make a lot of sense, and unfortunately not in that good way. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sam is annoyed that Jason picked another sequel, but this one surprised us! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We continue in Italy, in a movie that has some seriously questionable production design choices. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This really is a classic, and we mostly talk about it until Jason gets sidetracked by more 90's TV talk. It happens. (At least it's not comic books for a change!) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We said sayonara to Japan and buongiorno to Italy, where Sam learns to not leave Jason recording alone when he's been drinking. There would be some comic talk, but Sam cut that out because he is lame. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This sequel pulled a bit of a fast one on us, but Sadly, it's what you expect. And Sam puts the end best: "It's just like the Langoliers again, but not as good." Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Its not a great movie (yet we love it nonetheless), but Texmexium just makes us want a burrito. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
