The Night Train®

Back with a “bang” in 2022… it’s the first TNT of the year! Not content with struggling to make and do a normal show, we decided to do a Tip o’ The Hat to legendary bass player, Robbie Shakespeare! There’s a lot of music, sessions and tales to get into a 2 hour show and we will have done a terrible job. If there’s something we’ve missed off, please please please get in touch and we’ll play it on a...

Happy New Year, Feliz Ano Novo, Bonne Année, Bliadhna mhath ur and Kia hari te tau hou! Hope you are all well and have enjoyed this festive period. Apologies for not posting this earlier but it's been non-stop mince pie eating over here. This is part 2 of our "Reasons Why We're Skint" series. This show focuses on the deeper cuts, the stranger selections and stuff that quite a few of you might not...

It's an end of year special. Possibly the start of a new tradition! We're not doing an EOTY lists, they're way too stressful. Also, regular listeners (all 4 of you) will know that we're not the best at keeping up with new music. So instead of compiling a list, we're just gonna play records we bought this year. As mentioned in the title, this is Part 1. There will hopefully be a Part 2 next week bu...

We’re back after a week off with a new feature, new music, old music and announcements of what’s around the corner for TNT. We're keepin' this brief as we may have been up late last night... As always, don't forget to get in touch to ask for request or shout-out at; nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain on the tweets. Please do, as this means we have something...

It's a bonus upload! A friend that's out and about on night-time manoeuvres, has suggested that some after-party tunes might be needed. What we've done is upload our show that's perfect for the backroom of a club/after the club/in the house after the club/anywhere you enjoy residual tingles. Best thing to do is get comfy, press play and enjoy with a bud(dy). Don't worry, we've taken out our waffle...

Another week, another show/exercise in listener tolerance. Things are a tad different in this show as we didn't have the picks to go deep in hour two. What this means is that we've made a nice show that's probably gonna be liked by more people. Fear not though, next week we'll go back to the tried (tired?) and tested formula you all know and love. As always, don't forget to get in touch to ask for...

Gonna be honest with you all, this is being typed out by someone that's pretty tired. Usually these are pretty easy to write but despite the show only going out on the airwaves 12mins ago, we've instantly forgotten everything that we played. Rest assured it's a killer show. Please get in touch to ask for request or shout-out at; nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or  https://www.twitter.com/Radi...

These shows always feel the strangest. After a run of “Theme Shows” it was nice to get back to the standard fayre of music from the last 90 years. Got a nice mix of music this week including some new ‘uns that we didn’t squeeze into last week’s show. Please get in touch to ask for request or shout-out at; nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or  https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain  on the...

P-A-R-T-why? Because we managed to stay on the air for another year. It may not seem like it but we've been at this racket for 6 years. Could we be more prepared? Possibly. Could we be more eloquent? Suppose. Do we play the best music? Again, that's up for debate. Anyway, we digress. This is our 6th birthday show. Instead of looking backwards, we're looking forwards. Sorta. All songs released or r...

Real mixed bag this week. We did some things right (confirmed the station, introduced ourselves, didn't leave delay on the tracks), we did some things wrong (goad the listeners, mispronounce artists, forget to mention last week). But looking past that, it was an otherwise great show. Where else can you hear music by 3 different harpists?!?* To experience the show (sorta) live n direct… tune into S...

With Steve away on holiday, it thought like a good time to get into a good ol' fashioned DJ mix! This week we've got an hour mix that was cooked up live in the lab* by Powlo. Minimal chat this week, just focussed on the grooves. If you enjoy the show, please get in touch! He's available for bars, clubs, pubs, birthdays, ship launches, festivals and most other events. Next week should see a return...

Morning all! We’re getting’ this week’s upload done nice and early so you can have the perfect soundtrack to the start of the week. For this show, we’ve gone easy on the “In memorium” songs and heavy on the “Anniversary Cuts”. One day soon we’ll just do a normal show. We promise. To experience the show (sorta) live n direct.. tune into Sheffield Live, Sundays 9pm-11pm on 93.2FM, via the TuneIn Rad...

Due to reasons, there wasn't a show this week. As you know, we don't like to leave the Listen Again Crew without 2hrs of music to enjoy so we thought we'd upload this classic episode from 2020. We'll (hopefully) be back next week with tales of Steve stickering in Suffolk, bin chat and more! ------------------------------------------------------------ Any excuse to produce a themed show... it's 30...

It was teased last week and this week we've done it. Sadly, while we were off the air for 6 weeks quite a few great artists died. We've taken this week to celebrate their work. Some of them get a song, some of them get a few songs. It's never enough but it's the best we can do. If you like any of the artists mentioned, we implore you to get into their back-catalogue and enjoy some fantastic music....

We managed it. The stars have aligned and what are about to listen to is the sound of two people bumbling their way through 120mins of community radio. Yes, as it’s a pre-record we could quite easily make it a slick affair. Also, we did edit it a bit. Can you imagine how bad the stuff was that we took out?!? This week there’s new bits, old bits, bits we’ve been listening to on our summer break and...

Mornin' all... No show again this week so we're back in the crates for another "classic" episode. We're scheduling this to drop on Monday so it may or may not work. ------------------------------------------ It maybe a little late, but here is my tribute show to the anniversary of the birth of hip-hop (11th August 1973). First hour contains twelve classic Kool Herc records that most likely would h...

Mornin' all. For those that saw on the socials, we didn't do a show yesterday. Powlo was on DJ duties so we didn't have time for a pre-record and nobody wants a Steve Solo Show. Instead, for the podcast crew, we're re-upping our Jamaican Independence Day Special from 2017. Hopefully, we'll be back this week with a new show but if we don't, we'll just find another classic show from the archives. Pe...

Here at TNT Towers, we love nothing more than a long and arduous task that provides little reward* and shameless self promotion. A few months back, Paul decided to upload the Thirsty Ear mixes they used to give out at their monthly nights in Sheffield. We've mentioned it a few (too many) times on air. This week there wasn't a show, so instead of leavin' you with nothin', we thought we'd give you a...

Could this be the most eagerly anticipated show in Community Radio? Well... no. It's not. BUT it has been in the making for weeks, nay, months... It's The Night Train's Psych Special! We've tried to dig deep and make a show with a number of different psychadelic styles and flavours. With a little help from our friends, we think we've made a pretty decent show. Let us know if we've made a mistake o...

It’s hot. You don’t need us to tell you that. However, it does explain why this is a bit late getting uploaded. One of us is currently sweating in the attic, ripping songs for show 250, the other one of us is melting on the sofa with an overheating laptop cooking his legs. Anyway, enough about us, and more about the show! Plenty of stuff covered this week…. Footwork, drones, soul, dubstep, a few c...

Wanna hear something "funny"? This show technically didn't go out last night. The edit wasn't done in time due to Steve falling down the cellar stairs and spending Friday night in A&E. Don't worry, he's fine (some might say he's even hamming it up a bit). BONUS HILARITY: We accidentally uploaded last week's show by mistake. This should now be rectified. Thought you'd all like the show anyway,...

We know what you're thinkin'... "4th of July, those idiots will have done a hacky theme show" well... you're wrong! It's just a normal one. 2hrs of new music, old music, stuff we've played before, stuff we've forgotten we've played before and some adventurously long beds talk over. Once again, we're pleading that if you wanna help make the show more exciting, get in touch at nighttrain93.2[at]gmai...

After (kinda) takin' a week off, we're back with a new show of old music. Well, there are a couple of new things in there thanks to Steve. The rest of the show, as always, is filled with stuff we've been listening to this week. A word of warning for this show, final set of hour 2 shouldn't be listened to while operating heavy machinery. If you wanna help make the show more exciting, get in touch a...

Due to boring reasons we won't bore you with, there wasn't a live show this week. As we don't like to leave the FM Listener(s) in the lurch, we put out 2 "Classic" shows from the archives. We're only gonna upload hour one (sans chat) and save the other hour for another time we have off. Here's what we wrote about the show in 2016.... -------------------------------------------------------------- A...

We mentioned it a long time ago, now here it is! The inaugural TNT EP Special. All (well, most) songs on tonight's show were first available on an EP. We know what your'e thinking... "that's a ridiculous idea for a theme show, they've finally lost the plot". Well, in your face! We had quite a few suggestions for songs. Even better than that, the show seems to have a good flow to it! If you wanna h...
