The Night Train®

This might be the longest we’ve been since doing a theme show. 2 months since we did a small rekkids show. And those don’t really count as a theme show in our opinion. So, here’s another somewhat standard show for your listening consideration. Hoping to be back again in the studio on Sunday but there’s a chance that we might be too tired after a busy busy weekend. Tune in to find out! As alwa...

This show was made in a hurry. Can’t remember if we mention that on the air or not. It was put together in about half an hour with about another 15 minutes of tinkering to iron out the (big) mistakes. We think it turned out pretty good. Enjoy! As always, if you feel like it please get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! https://www.instagram.com/radionighttrain/ https:...

Alright folks? It’s a Tuesday. Bake Off is on the telly so this is the perfect time to upload a new show. We managed to get into the studio after the shenanigans last week which means, BRAND NEW SHOW. Sorta. It’s actually the show that should have happened last week. Whatever. It’s 2hrs of good music for you to enjoy, As always, if you feel like it please get in touch with requests, recommendation...

You know when this show would have been good to listen to? Yesterday. When it was unseasonably sunny in Sheffield. As it goes, it’s grey and a bit drizzly today. But as we say, we like to play music for almost any occasion. Once again, no theme this week. There is one long song, and that’s not at the end so you can’t (easily) avoid it. We’re in the market for more long songs. If you know any good...

Evenin’ all. We didn’t do a show last night but we couldn’t leave you without something to tide you over until we’re next on the airwaves. We’ve pinched a show that we love and that we think you’ll love as well. It’s by friend of the show Louise T and it’s a great monthly show on LWSTD.fm . This was the show that went out on Saturday. It's a doozy, so we wanted you to hear it. https://www.mixcloud...

This was a new experience for us. Which is impressive as we’re 439 shows into this nonsense. We attempted to do this show a couple of weeks ago but studio gremlins got in the way. So instead of putting it down to a bad job, we’ve regrouped and had another go at it. Is it as good as the 1st time around? Nobody will ever know apart from us. Why has it taken ‘tlll Wednesday morning for an upload? Sam...

Feels weird uploading this while it’s light. Usually this is more of a nocturnal activity. Much like the show. Sometimes we wonder “should we be more uniform with our uploads?”. It’s not going to happen. Well, it could but truth be told… we’re not sure we’d like that stress. Anyway, here’s the show. Enjoy. As always, if you feel like it please get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest...

Step right up for show number four hundred and thirty seven. Another 7 inch special! Steve did this one on his own as he didn’t want to leave you without a show to soundtrack the next batch of hot weather that’s in the post. It’s 4 sets. A garage rock-ish one. A British beat-ish one. A psychedelic-ish one. And one that’s sorta about heartbreak Hopefully see you next week, but if we don’t, remember...

Another week, another show where one/both presenters complain(s) about being tired. You’d think by now they’d know how to be fully rested for the show. This show is a deep one. Starts heavy and gets heavier. Enjoy! Hopefully see you next week, but if we don’t, remember to get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! https://www.instagram.com/radionighttrain/ https://bsky.ap...

We all know the show is a vanity project but this week it’s gone next level… it’s all about STEVE! He played records from his birthday. Some from his party, some he got as presents and some he purchased with birthday mon No show next week due to Tramplines. That doesn't mean you can't get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! https://www.instagram.com/radionighttrain/ ht...

We’re off to a gig tonight so there isn’t a witty, long, descriptive blurb for Sunday’s show. The main points are: Studio was hot Tunes were mainly old A smattering of new tunes We’ve been listening to A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs Hopefully see you next week, but if we don’t, remember to get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! https://www.instagram.com/radionig...

Back in the old studio, for possibly the last time? We’re not sure. Will it matter to you lot? Probably not. All you want is 2 hours of quality radio which you’ve got (eventually). You’ll be pleased/sad* to know there’s no theme this week. Just us, picking songs, talking about songs and other stuff. As always though, get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! https://www....

Evenin’ all. Or good mornin’. Depending on when you read this. Or if you read it at all. This week’s show had some beats, some guitars, some music from Jamaica and a fair bit of new music. We’ve got our fingers on the pulse. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.  As always though, get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! https://www.instagram.com/radionighttrain/ ht...

Sunday’s show was a doozy. Hour one was the standard stuff but hour two is where it really gets going. We did a tribute (of sorts) to Steve Barrow, who sadly passed recently by playing an hour of stuff we heard on his Blood & Fire record label. No live show from us this weekend as we’re out on Saturday night. Tune in the following week for tales of Steve’s birthday bash. As always though, get...

It’s night time in The Big City. Rain isn’t falling as it’s an unseasonal heatwave. A late night radio show host writes a hackneyed blurb for an upload… Sunday’s show is here at long last.. where we celebrated Bob Dylan’s 85th birthday by playing songs that he wrote, performed by other people. One day soon we’ll do a show without any type of theme. Tune in on Sunday to see if it happens next time....

The weeks, they roll ‘round quickly. It seems only yesterday that we were playing animal records yet here we are again… doing an upload and trying to work out how to make it sound enticing enough to listen to. Thankfully, a lot of you are in too deep now so you don’t want to stop listening. And we appreciate that. It’s a standard show this week, old cuts and hot chat. What you’ve come to know and...

The best thing about this show is for the first time in 3 weeks we haven’t had to think about animal songs. It’s a standard show with the usual stuff. Gig reviews, stuff we’ve heard on other shows, general bad mixes and handbrake segues. There may or may not be a show on Sunday… we’re out on Friday night and we’re getting older so it takes longer to recover! As always though, get in touch with req...

Well, this is possibly our most ambitious theme show ever! Three themes in one. Dancing, animals and dancing animals. We've just counted up and annoyingly, it's 44 songs. 45 would have been nice as it's a show on all 45s. Perhaps if we'd have started properly we might have snuck another one in. You live and learn. As always though, get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquirie...

So, it’s an animals on wax special. Songs with animals in the title or band name. I know how to party. It’s rough and ready, not fixed anything and if you listened live, you got a bonus 3 songs. I was going to edit them in but I thought “you should have been there”. Shout out to Phillie B for giving me the idea of a theme within a theme. As always though, get in touch with requests, recommendation...

Listeners that have been with us a while, will either be rejoicing or lamenting this upload. It’s the return of the 100% strange music show! It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these, which is a travesty (in some people’s eyes). So here it is, 120ish minutes of weird music for you to enjoy/endure. No show from us tomorrow (19th April) due to legitimate reasons. We’ll hopefully be back next...

Alright party people! A Monday upload that we’ve been putting off all day as it’s been sunny. It was a solo show from Steve, but that’s not the important bit. The important bit is there’s AN AMAZING GUEST MIX THAT YOU NEED IN YOUR EARS. Freakbeat Brónagh’s Land of Make Believe Mix is one for the ages. Don’t panic, we’re going to upload it clean in the week so you don’t have to endure Steve’s dulce...

Just a quick hello to say, here’s the show. It’s got both of us in the studio which isn’t going to happen again for at least a week. If things go according to plan, Steve will be flying solo on Sunday. It is the Easter Bank Holiday weekend though so if you haven’t got work, do tune in and say hi! This show may or may not work on Mick’s Cloud. There’s a song by DJ Shadow that’s technically 6 songs,...

Evenin’ all. We didn’t do a show last night but we couldn’t leave you without something to tide you over until we’re next on the airwaves. We’ve pinched a show that we love and that we think you’ll love as well. It’s by friend of the show Louise and it’s a great monthly show on LWSTD.fm . Its goes out at 3pm, in the slot that Pick of The Pops used to have. They’re not really the same, just wanted...

Parts of this show were made in a hurry. If we didn’t tell you that, we’re not sure you’d know as the bits we made are pretty good. The bit of the show that’s really good is the killer guest mix from Rockin’ Rachel at Haunted Jukebox. We’ve linked her profile on Mick’s Cloud below. You should check out her show. It’s mint. No live show next weekend due to reasons. We’ll try and get something out f...

Sunday was International Women’s Day, which meant it was time for a Salute To The Sisterhood! All great music from across the ages and genres, all made by women. As always though, get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! https://www.instagram.com/radionighttrain/ https://bsky.app/profile/thenighttrain.co.uk Don’t forget, we’re also available for family functions, weddin...
