The Narrowing Path: Walking the Spiritual Walk

After reading Henry Drummond's book "The Greatest Thing in the World", I decided to accept his challenge and do the readings he suggested at the end of the book. This episodes includes my realizations and thoughts from reading 1st Corinthians 13 every day for a week. I will continue the challenge and hope everyone takes this challenge on themselves!

We finish the book "The Greatest Thing in the World" by Henry Drummond today! A call to action, a reminder of what we are doing, and a reminder of what matters in the end. Love is the Greatest Thing in the World, and Drummond has made a solid case for that Truth!

What is the purpose of life? A question asked my many, and gets met with an overwhelming variety of answers. Well, Drummond sums it up for us very clearly, and directly. To Live is to Love, and to Love is to Live. Anything in the place of love, will never be enough!

Why should we orient ourselves around love? Why is it that nothing else will be an acceptable replacement for where love is supposed to be? We explore that in this reason and how the mis-prioritization of worldly things is sinful, rather than the world things themselves. This is a refreshing section that really allows for a reorientation to what is most important in life.

We begin the last section of the book "The Greatest Thing in the World" titled The Defense! We start off incredible strong talking about why Love is the most important thing in the world!

We have talked about what love looks like, when to practice love, and who to practice love with. Now, how do we find a loving heart? How do we make it more than actions? Where does that actually start? Well, thankfully, Drummond has an answer for us!

We have finished the analysis of all of the virtues Henry Drummond summarized from Paul's letter to the Corinthians. Drummond tells us what we are now to do with these virtues and how we should be practicing them. Turns out it is everywhere and with everyone!

Authenticity, Genuineness, Integrity - all aspects of Sincerity that we need to practice when we are practicing a loving heart! Without sincerity, there can be now knowledge of Truth, and without that we do not grow!

"Thinketh no Evil" is the verse that Drummond turns into the Virtue Guilelessness! A loving perspective to bring to all of our interactions and to believe in people that do not believe in themselves can bring so much hope to this world!

A revealing take on the importance of being Good Tempered in our life! It is one that can counteract any other acts of good you may do, so it one to take responsibility for! Check out the 7th Virtue of Love that Drummond expands for us!

Unselfishness! Something that comes up regularly on this channel and that needs to be practiced in all that we do! Unselfishness is an aspect of love that we need to continue to move toward in all areas of our lives, as individuals, and as communities, and in society.

A discussion about a virtue seemly lost to us in our modern days. The idea of Courtesy, or politeness, has been deemed not needed these days when really, it is what we need most of today. Courtesy is what helps us more forward together with love in our hearts!

Humility, the mother of all character qualities! In this episode we are discussing the 4th principle of love from Henry Drummond's lecture titled "The Greatest Thing in the World!" Join us as we continue to explore the rest of the principles, and how to practice them in our daily lives, to truly live a life of Love!

Today we are talking about a true practice of generosity in all areas of our lives, and it means more than you may initially think! We talk about the principle behind it, and how it applies in all interactions and competitions we find ourselves in!

Kindness, this is the second Virtue of the Nine that we are going talking about that make up a practice of Love! Kindness, or Love Active, as Drummond defines it, is something that we can all be conscious to practice more of in our daily actions!

We are on Step 9 from James Allen's First Steps in the Higher Life! We are discussing Unswerving Rectitude! Dedication to a life of Integrity, Honesty, and Truth in an integral and vital part of our Spiritual journeys. Do not forget that everything matters, and practice - practice - practice!

This is the first step in the last lesson that James Allen gives us! These are Virtues to practice and the first is Unselfish Performance of Duty! Of ALL Duty! Invite our duty in as a responsibility to be perform instead of a burden to endure!

This is the final step in the second lesson James Allen gives us in the book Out From the Heart! The Disciplines of the Tongue have been eye opening and this one is one that is crucial to moving forward. To change from arguing for the sake of argument to purposeful and good faith disagreement in the pursuit of Truth is the direction we need to take!
