The Friar Phil Show

Prior to our series with the Minnesota Twins, on Monday, I invited LOCKED ON TWINS co-host BRANDON WARNE to chat about the Twins. He was a really nice guy, and he thoroughly educated me about his team. I am sure you will find it interesting as well and will learn something about the Padres next opponent.

Another small, two game Dodgers series at Petco Park this week. I invited my Dodger fan friend, Nick, back on the program to talk about the Dodgers. Last time we talked we were preparing to go to Seoul, Korea. Now both teams look a bit different. We talk about that and much more!

The host of Locked On Padres ( @LO_Padres ) Javier Reyes (@Javiipeno) joined me for a conversation about the 2024 Padres compared to 2023 team we had. That and a few more topics were squeezed into this episode.

Now that all my equipment works and I am back to feeling healthy I wanted to start getting back on track with the podcasts. This week I have my friend ET (@sdfan21 on X) on the program and we talk about the Padres, Profar, Kim and the emergence of Higgy. This was a great way to start the second half of the season. I had a lovely conversation with Jackson Merrill's parents . They are couple of nice, down-to-earth people. Once you get to know them you can see where Jackson got all his good qualities from. I wrap the show up with a little talk about a player that got away and who has made some MLB history today.

UNBELIEVABLE! That is how I am summing up the Padres season so far. I have my voice back and invited Javier from LOCKED ON PADRES to come on and commiserate with me after we just watched the Padres lose another game to the pitiful Cardinals. Come join us- it is like therapy!

Once again, I have had the pleasure of chatting with another " Locked On " host. Jeff Ellis is the co-host of Locked On Guardians and he graciously spared some time to chat with me about Cleveland and its baseball team. Very informative and another person who knows his baseball. I was surprised to learn the Guardians are very similar to our Padres in many ways!

I am really impressed with the talent the " Locked On " podcast network has. Today I have a lovely visit with the host of " Locked On Red Sox ", Lauren, who gives us the scoop on the Red Sox. If you are not familiar with the Red Sox this is a must listen to podcast before we play Boston tomorrow (5/19/23)!

This week my friend Nick, from Sacramento, joined me to talk about the Dodgers vs. Padres series this weekend. As usual we had a fun chat and Nick let me know what is up with the Dodgers- a team this year that is just 2 games ahead of us. I think it will be a pretty even matchup so long as the Padres offense stays healthy and alive!

I have been listening to Javier for a while now. I missed the last two weeks nursing my concussion. I selected today (Monday) instead of Thursday because we are playing the last regular season series with the Dodgers. I invited past guest Mr. Mark (@Gilbey28) to come back and talk some baseball with me. We mostly talk about the Dodgers series and a variety of other topics. Happy listening!

Yes it is that time of year when we play the dreaded Los Angeles Dodgers and I have a Dodgers fan on the program to tell us some of the things we should know about the Dodgers. No, I don't mean the ET that wanted to phone home. Of course I am talking about my fairly regular guest, E.T., who once again brought his memory book of our San Diego Padres as we discussed a number of topics relating to the Padres and the season so far.

I have been watching the HOG WATCH on YouTube for quite awhile now and I thought it would be fun and informative to have Borna aka Hog on the program. The thing I like best about Hog is the way he tells it like it is- something I have tried to do online as well. We have a terrific discussion about the Padres and I remember two musicians that impacted my life and sadly passed away last week. 

I had a lively conversation with Matt and Isaac, two of the three guys from the FRIAR TALK podcast ( @padrespod ), about some of their recent podcasts. We talked about Kim, Gore, Musgrove, Cano and a few other topics dealing with our San Diego Padres. Sadly Isaac's phone wasn't cooperating and he cut out a few times.
