The Avid Indoorsmen

This last week was the first week of the NFL season and to celebrate we decided to chat about a football film that we both adored from the year 1991, Necessary Roughness. We quote it to this day and thought it was about time we broke down this movie. Hope you enjoy!

We got Abe Sword to come back to the pod and talk about one of his favorite Coen Brothers films, Miller’s Crossing, which happens to be turning 35 this year. It was a great time rewatching and breaking this film down with Abe. Enjoy!

This is the first time we've ever done a live version of the pod in front of an audience! We went to the Tim Foust Oregon Getaway and played some games with a few of the performers and we had a great time. Big thanks to Tim Foust, Heatbox, Chris Chatham, Katherine Roy, Jenika Marion and Darrell Marrier. We had a few technical difficulties but excited that we're able to share this episode with you!...

The Replacements is a movie that probably isn't amazing but it's one that we both enjoyed watching many times. We both were still playing high school football when this came out, so it had a pretty big impact on us. And pretty sure that this is the first film we've discussed since Gene Hackman's passing. This one features just the two of us. Enjoy!

The film that introduced Hugh Jackman as Wolverine just turned 25 this year. One of our favorite comic-book aficionados, actor J.Michael Trautmann, helped us out and broke down this film with us. We had a great time with him and he shared some entertaining insights. Enjoy!

Our buddies Jessie Pellowski and Kate Duncan graced us with their presence to reminisce about the 30 year old film, Heavyweights. We had some hot takes and an unhealthy amount of laughs. Enjoy!

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s Benny Elledge coming back for a second consecutive week to talk about one of his favorite franchises of all time, Superman. We all went to the theater opening weekend to see what James Gunn came up with and recorded an episode on it immediately. Hope you enjoy!

To wrap up our trip through the Back to the Future trilogy, we brought back our beloved frequent guests, Benny Elledge & Renegade. We always have a great time with these fellas and hope you enjoy hearing us discuss Back to the Future Part III.

We're pretty sure that we have never done an episode on Back to the Future Part II before, but had you asked us last week if we'd done an episode on Back to the Future we would have been wrong...All that being said, we were very happy to have Adam Rupp come back on the pod and chat about this awesome sequel. We hope you enjoy!

We've released well over 300 episodes over the last 6+ years and this is the very first time that we've tried to do an episode on a film that we've already recorded an episode on. Thankfully we had Nate Stone on back in July of 2020 and minutes before we were about to record the other day, Nate informed us that we had already recorded an episode on Back to the Future for it's 35th anniversary 5 ye...

Sandra Bullock's hilariously charming Miss Congeniality is 25 years old and we decided to go along on this ride by ourselves. Cue up Bill Withers' "Just The Two Of Us." We had a hoot chatting about this film, hope you enjoy!

The 1996 Best Picture Oscar Winner turns 30 this year and this was a big film for us back in the day. It was also a big film for our guest and friend, Benny Elledge. It was a great time breaking down this film with him. Enjoy!

The MCU is back babyyy! Thunderbolts was a great time and we had an even better time talking with Reilly Zamber about it and recording it and posting it for you to hear! Enjoy!

We’ve done quite a few episodes on Tom Hanks movies and if they’re from the eighties or early nineties, chances are we’ve brought on our good buddy Abe Sword. We kept that streak alive and brought Abe back to talk about Joe Versus the Volcano. He got the job and did the job well. Enjoy!

The second film of Ben Affleck's directing career, The Town, is 15 years old. We loved this movie and brought along a recurring guest, Luke Pierce, who also happens to love this movie. We had a great time breaking this film down with Luke and maybe trying out some not so great Boston accents in the process. Enjoy!

It’s time for another movie game night and we thought we’d bring in some folks we’ve never had on the pod before, some UMD Alumns who were part of the theater department. Rob was in productions of Sweeney Todd and Guys & Dolls with them and partook in many many fun nights playing poker and making good decisions as college kids. We’ve had Dave Hauer on the pod before but never for a movie game...

Road Trip turns 25 this year and we talked about this film quite a bit during our Eurotrip episode with Neil Ghosh, so we knew we had to have him come back and break this film down with us. It was a great decision, we had the best time. Enjoy!

This was a movie Rob was super into when he was younger and was very excited that this was the excuse to get Buegs to watch it. Another person Rob made watch it when they were kids was his best buddy, Timmy St. Sauver. Timmy makes his return to the pod and fun was had by all.  Enjoy!

We thought it was finally time to do a light-hearted film and then we scratched that idea and broke down the extremely dark, comedic, slasher horror film, American Psycho. Turns out our good buddy, Chris Chatham, has a pretty dark sense of humor and was all onboard to discuss this film. We had a great time and he still managed to keep a running joke going since his very first episode with us. Enjo...

We’ve finally reached our great white buffalo, Hot Tub Time Machine, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary. We brought back our buddy Brandon Miller who we’ve quoted this movie with a bunch over the years. It was fun having him back on and breaking down this comedy. Enjoy!

The Sean Baker written and directed film, Anora, won Best Picture as well as several other Academy Awards. We both liked Anora and thought it would be fun to record an episode on it with our good friend and recurring guest, Sami Matarante. She had some fun insights and we all had a lovely discussion. Enjoy!

How To Train Your Dragon just turned 15 years old and the new live-action version is coming out this year, so we thought we'd record an episode on it. We brought back our good buddy and dragon enthusiast, Adam Rupp! We had a great time and hope you enjoy!

We're back with the latest Marvel Movie and had to bring back our Marvel-ous guest Reilly Zamber to give us his thoughts. He graciously took time out of his super busy schedule as his baby girl was less than a week old when we recorded this. Big thanks to him and his wife for letting him come and chat with us. Enjoy!

The Rodgers and Hammerstein movie musical is celebrating its 60th Anniversary. This has been a very big movie in Rob’s family so we brought back his Dad, Fred Lundquist, to talk about the countless times he’s seen it. We had a great time and hope you enjoy!

The Oscars will be airing this weekend and we decided to give our predictions on who we think will win for each category. This is the most aligned we’ve ever been for the Oscars, so we’ll see how we do. Enjoy!
