The Argo City Podcast

Maddie's been battling an awful cold (which I'm convinced came from the strange plants that grow under her bedroom window) so we're late talking about the ORIGINAL Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1958. The long wait also gave Matthew a chance to read the book which adds horrifiying implications to the cinematic horrors!

This week we're talking about a 1978 classic! Join Maddie and Matthew... um. Wait. That is Matthew isn't it? And what's that plant doing behind the couch?

It's back to the arctic wastes with a shapeshifting monster! Maddie and Matthew conclude their discussion of John Carpenter's The Thing!

Six weeks of Scary continues with a masterpiece of paranoia. Maddie and Matthew talk about the cinematic and literary foundations of the perfect remake. This week, we're watching 1982's The Thing.

So....I got cold feet. After Maddie's reaction to the image of the Return of the Fly, it occured to me that this might be just a bit too over the top in it's body horror for her. But it's still important for her to see and know the 1985 remake - so were going to speed run a summary and get some reactions to that instead. Don't worry, we're bringing the gore and latex next week. John Carpenter's th...

Maddies been itching for a zombie movie for a while. Matt had no idea that 's what this was. But is the Girl With all the Gifts horror? Is it thriller? Or does it defy categorization?

It's a tale of fatherhood, medicine, struggle and spiritual acension. I think. The Deer King is nothing of what either Maddie or Matthew were expecting.  Let's talk about it.

It's time to return to Freddy Fazbears! Maddie hit Five Nights at Freddys at the theater, but now that it's on streaming, it's Matt's turn to watch. The thing with Five Nights though, it's just as much about the fan theroies as it is about the games, books and movies themselves!

There's still a lot of X stuff to talk about, as we drift from the movie into the comics in part two of our X2 discussion!

It's been quite a while since Maddie visited the X-Men franchise. Since watching the first film She and matt have gone through the 90's cartoon as well as watching patrick Stewart in Star Trek and Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman. Time to come back and see how the X-Men films hold up.

Sometimes, images speak louder than words. that's a good thing, because tonight's film only has images.... and no words. Experiance a cataclysm through the eyes of a most vulnerable creature.

One of the greatest 1980s action epics, laced with biting satire and ultra violence. Robocop is nothing like what Maddie expected, and it's time to fire it up!

Our next trip to the Case Western Film Society is definately a hard day's night. We're not Beatles fans, but there's certian films that are just classics and this is EXACTLY the kind of venue to go se them at!

When I recieve an unsolicited sales call at work I'm usually icy, cutting them off and asking to be added to thier do not call list. I'll take their name and inform them we don't do business with cold callers and further communication will be an FCC violation. On the other hand, if you call me at home on my personal number, I'm likely going to mess with you, and drag the call out (because while I'...

We continue to talk about how much we love Anne Hathaway! It's Maddie's first time with this movie - much to Matthew's surprise! That's not the only surprising reaction here though. It's the Princess Diaries!
