AI filmmaking, from script to storyboard to screen.
The AI Filmmaking Room
AI is changing filmmaking, but better tools do not automatically create better stories. The AI Filmmaking Room is a podcast for anyone who wants to create films, series, scripts and storyboards with AI, without getting lost in random generations. Hosted by Frank Houbre, creator of the AI animated series Lost Garden and cofounder of ScreenWeaver, the show explores the full creative process behind AI filmmaking: writing stronger scripts, building story worlds, preparing visual direction, creating storyboards, designing characters, planning shots, generating production prompts.

How Do I Turn a Screenplay Into AI Video? 29.06.2026 3:37
A screenplay is not a prompt: it contains subtext, pacing, character arcs, and silence. Treating it as a mere block of text for an AI generator strips away the soul of your story. As AI video generation tools become more powerful, a major gap has emerged between writing and production. Filmmakers and writers have incredible scripts, and the models have immense rendering power, but they lack a stru...
What Is the Best Workflow for Making an AI Short Film? 27.06.2026 4:02
Many creators set out to make an AI short film with brilliant ideas and access to powerful generation tools, only to find themselves drowning in creative chaos within days. When you generate a character on one platform, a background on another, and keep random prompts scattered across text files, you stop being a director and start managing a digital mess. The real bottleneck in modern AI filmmaki...
How Do I Make an AI Film Without Losing Consistency? 22.06.2026 3:47
One of the most frustrating experiences in AI filmmaking is watching a beautiful character shift faces, costumes, or lighting from one shot to the next. This constant drift breaks the viewer's immersion and destroys the fragile trust needed to carry an audience through a narrative. Consistency is not merely an aesthetic choice, it is the foundation of cinematic logic. When a character changes...

AI Filmmaking Workflow: Script to Screen for Indie Film 18.06.2026 4:37
Most people treat AI filmmaking as a game of entering random prompts and hoping a masterpiece appears. But for independent filmmakers, the real challenge is not generating one beautiful image: it is building a workflow that can survive an entire project. A short film, a pilot, or a series requires character continuity, rhythmic pacing, and emotional depth. When creators attempt to build these comp...
Consistent Characters in AI Films: Directing vs Prompting 16.06.2026 4:40
One of the biggest challenges in modern AI filmmaking is no longer the raw quality of the generated images, but the fundamental struggle of character consistency. You might generate a visually perfect character in your first shot, only to find their face, costume, posture, or emotional expression shifting in the next. This visual drift ruins immersion, not because the creator lacks vision or the t...
AI Filmmaking Workflow: Story Architecture Beats Prompting 14.06.2026 4:55
The initial gold rush of AI creation focused heavily on the prompt. Creators traded secret formulas and keywords, hoping a magical string of words would yield cinematic masterpieces. But as the technology matures, we are entering a new phase. The most valuable skill in AI cinema is no longer prompt engineering, it is story architecture. A story architect does not start by asking what can be genera...
AI Filmmaking Direction: Why Vision Matters More Than Prompts 13.06.2026 4:35
The sudden rise of AI video generators has sparked a profound misunderstanding in the creative world. Many believe that when a machine can instantly render a beautiful, photorealistic scene, the need for a director vanishes. But true cinema is not merely a collection of striking visuals. As we unpack in this episode, the ease of infinite generation actually makes the role of the director far more...
Generating More Does Not Make Your AI Film Better 12.06.2026 4:23
The ease of generative AI has created a new paradox for digital creators: the illusion of progress through volume. It is incredibly easy to spend hours changing single words in a prompt, switching models, and gathering hundreds of beautiful, high-definition assets. But accumulating stunning images is not the same as building a coherent cinematic experience. As AI filmmaking tools become more acces...
AI Filmmaking: Why You Need a Storyboard, Not Just Prompts 11.06.2026 4:56
Many AI creators are caught in an endless loop of tweaking words, searching for the perfect formula to unlock a truly cinematic look. We talk constantly about the best prompts for tools like Runway or Kling, hoping the right adjective will magically solve our visual problems. But a prompt is not a strategy. It is merely the final translation of an intention. When that underlying intention remains...
AI Filmmaking: Why Storytelling Must Come Before Prompting 10.06.2026 5:15
The rapid evolution of generative AI tools has made cinematic imagery incredibly accessible. However, this speed has introduced a major trap for creators: the mistake of starting with generation. When you have a powerful visual idea, opening tools like Runway, Sora, or Cling is incredibly tempting. But while a beautiful generated image feels like a win, it does not mean your film actually exists y...
