Spatulas and Speculations

A canonic look into the gods of the Sjm universe, everything we do and don’t know about them.

This week we do a chapter breakdown of the most epic scene in the SJM universe, (pre- house of sky and breath ending) let’s talk what happened with Aelin and how it effects the sjmu.

WE ARE BACK BABIES! Season two has begun with a character deep dive on the person whose POV we will start with in House of Flame and Shadow

I reminisce on the year we’ve had by going back through and highlighting some of the important topics and gushing over you all and Sarah

All things books… which is funny because we’re a podcast about a book series. Let’s talk Libraries, lore and look a little deeper into the history of Sjm

After much request it’s finally time to talk out all we know (again admittedly very little) on the Emissary of House of Flame and Shadow- the one the only Jesiba Roga … but that’s not even her real name so…

An absolute train wreck of an episode. Let’s start talking about Danika and what the heck she had going on… mostly I talk about Norse Myth.

The shallowest Character Deep Dive we’ve ever done. I had such High hopes going into this one and was in awe of how little information I could get.

This week we look at everything we know canonically about The Dread Trove and its mysterious forth sibling. We’re talking canon, myth, questions and theories

It’s my birthday and we’re spending it doing my favorite thing… rambling about Sjm. Let’s talk thoughts and theories on Danika, Fenrys, Spring Court and questions where the heck is Connor

Today’s Episode is all about that unnamed yet constantly mentioned younger daughter of Queen Thiea. Let’s talk canon and theory and see if we can start to unravel some of these threads.

Joining me this week is one of my favorite people and she’s here to talk about one of my favorite dudes in the Sjmu. Buckle in and be prepared for theories, thoughts- all around our favorite future High Lord Eris…

This week is a requested chapter breakdown of when Nesta returns her power and saves her sister, her nephew, and her (reluctant) brother-in-law. Let’s talk theory, timeline and play the “Is it Starborn or does Sarah just like the word iridescent?” Game where there are no winners.

Today we tackle the big question- WHAT IS AMREN? Valg? Asteri? Other? Spoilers… We have no clue and we probably wont know until our queen Sarah J Maas designs to tell us but we can have fun theorizing and going over what she’s left in the books to *try* and figure out.

This week we go through all that we know and more importantly DON’T know about the book of breathings. Unsurprisingly we will both stay on topic and also get off topic at the same time. It’s a trick only Sjm can do to us.

The first step in what will be a long and twisting Character deep dive. Let’s start with the canonic past of the most mysterious and complex character in the Sjm universe. Sounds easy right? RIGHT? HA. wrong.

A small intermission episode of things that Sarah left in the books for us to spiral over… let’s talk wings: creatures with them and who might have them and where those creatures might be hanging around plus some family tree stuff.

Today we talk red heads, unhinged theories & headcanons, Hofas and more - the most relaxed episode we’ve ever had.

Kingdom of Ash left a lot of wounds but also a lot of questions one them being … what is a “world power” and why do they permanently stain blades? This week get comfortable we’re talking theory.

Is it a theory episode? A character deep dive? A chaos episode? Who knows… certainly not I… let’s look at a character who piqued our interest and some how we end up back on the topic of the dusk court.

This week we do a chapter breakdown on the one chapter where we learned the most (still not a lot) about the mystics… mostly I’m just questioning Rhys out loud.

In a fictional world a character tells a story about a myth found in our world… I feel like we dug so deep into the fantasy world that we’ve come out the other-side back to the real world… hmm..

The round up episode! Let’s do a big ole chapter break down that spans all three books series. Follow along (if you can) as we try to tie together all the red strings sarah had left behind. (Messier 73 is an asterism - I though it was funny for a title)

A chapter breakdown and info dump of all we know about the core 7 Asteri and some what of a review episode on everything we’ve talked about thus far.

A spontaneous Rhys episode - it was *supposed* to be an episode where we would’ve (key word would) looked at a handful of characters first appearance and seen what we could learn from it BUT … em *cough cough*… I made the mistake of starting with Rhys and it just turned into an “I love feysand” moment with a mix of jeopardy… why do you all listen to me?
