During difficult and dark times, what is the role of poetry? How do the times we live in affect the poems that are written? And how can we extend our understanding of a poem by accounting for the context? We discuss these big questions by reading a poem in a little child's voice, written by Rabindranath Tagore.

Is the poet a piper, trying to simply delight us with the wonders of the world? Or, is the poet a bard trying to impart wisdom about deeper questions? Or, maybe the poet is at once a piper and a bard; and a poem is meant to delight as much as to instruct? Let's ponder about it in this episode.
