Nerds and Nachos: One Chip

This week I talk about the reveals from Magic Con Vegas. The Soul Stone in particular. I go over it and The Soul Stone and how I feel The Mind Stone is not going to be played in very many decks and definitely not for its infinity ability. This week I thought about tinkering and spite builds and Dark Souls. I realized editing your deck to fit your meta is just like updating your build in a Souls Borne to beat a boss. This week it's all about Mono-Red and the issues that arise when you build it a s a spell slinger. The mana issue and most of all the fact that there is no card draw but with the release of Secrets of Strixhaven there may finally be an answer! This week we go over the build of my original inevitable deck, Y'shtola Night's Blessed. This week I go over a type of deck that I've been trying to get right for five years. The entire time I've been back in Magic the Gathering I have wanted to play an Aggro Reanimator/Aristocrat list that uses creatures for value and damage. I think I've finally gotten it to work with cards from the Ninja Turtles set of all places. Links: Thrill of Possibility: https://www.etsy.com/shop/...

This week I get nostalgic for set blocks and hope that we can make our way back to them for better storytelling and to live in the worlds for a while. This week I talk about the rising price of the game and getting priced out of the game from packs and singles costing more each release and the issue with the majority of the set releases this year being a premium release set forcing the normal price of a pack to $7.50. This week I talk about the over abundance of legendary creatures coming out in the new sets. Especially the ones that have the same name but only slightly different and how confusing it gets when bringing your deck to a table. This week we talk about taxes...not that kind. Are taxing effects that strong in Commander? Should Rhystic Study be banned? Is the Rhystic player always the one that wins? All of these are answered and more as I go over how I think these decks run and how annoying they can be to deal with. This week I actually touch on the Banned and Restricted announcement for Commander and the changes to the game changer list. Farewell was moved up and that means a lot of things for a lot of players. Are the brackets hard to understand? In some matches there seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of the bracket system and it favoring card choice over consistency and synergy. Stax is the boogeyman of the format, but is that true? This week I talk abuot howe you should play more stax to understand it more and how it can make you a better player. Always use Rule 0 to make sure everyone is alright with the game going that way though. Stax is not a good surprise. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week I get into the world of Secret Lairs and how a low reprint value can put a bad taste in the mouths of the people buying the drop. There has to be a line in the sand for these premium products selling commons and other bulk bin cards at ridiculous prices. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week I go in depth about my feelings for Hybrid Mana and the arguments against it. There are quite a few and some of them make more sense than others. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos
