Nerds and Nachos: One Chip

Doom cEDH list: https://moxfield.com/decks/GPYfdezm6k6X66S7vc4F_w/previewThis week it's a different kind of video. We are going over a specific line in my Doctor Doom Unrivaled cEDH list that tests if Khan, Vengeful Heart is any good in a Doomsday list or if it should stay in the Food Chain lists it is inevitably going to be in. This week we're talking about being bored with a certain deck type. Not to play against but to play yourself. As I become more of a combo player I am building more and more decks that skip combat and getting bored with it in commander. I go over the last three decks I built or reworked to figure out what the issue is. Use code Nachos at checkout for 10% off! https://www.dubby.gg/discount/nacho...

Use code NATL on Bonfire to get 10% and help me get to Magic Con Atlanta! https://www.bonfire.com/store/nerds--nachos/This week we're finally talking about God Packs and all the issues that could follow along with them. I want to be wrong about them, I want to be wrong so bad but I'm worried I am not going to be. Links: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nerdsandnachos Thrill of Possibility:...

This week we talk about who is the better Superfriends commander, Tam, the Possibility or Atraxa, Praetor's Voice? I have my own bias but do my best to come to a conclusion with evidence and not just how I feel. This week the topic is how many legendary creatures have been printed in 2026 alone. The number is higher than any other year previous and it is having some ramifications in 60 card play but is it resulting in the commander-ification of Magic the Gathering? This week we are looking at the Multiverse Reforged Precon and the big creatures it has hidden in the list. Are they good? Are the good outside of a polymorph deck? How good can they be? This week I just start ranting about Secret Lair and how nothing changes and it never gets better. Many Secret Lairs don't have the value equal to the amount of money you are spending and then there is the issue with scalpers snapping up all of the cards before anyone can even get to them. This week we talk about TWO THINGS?! After a disastrous launch of the Zeta set I talk about the loss of trust in Secret Lair, where the shift started, and how I would have handled the Zeta set instead of the terrible launch where the line was paused. I also talk about Andrea Mengucci's article on how to save competitive Magic and give my two cents on where I agree and where I disagree with him...

This week I talk about deals and making sure you follow through on them. Which ones are more easily followed through and which ones can be more beneficial to you or other players. This week I talk about cards from The Hobbit set that I really like and if my opinions have changed from when I first talked about or saw them. Small spoilers I love all the Dwarves and kindred support in this set and the love they show for the characters in The Hobbit. This week we take a look at when is a deck done and when is it something completely different than when you started. Borrowing from The Ship of Theseus we take a long look at two decks and try to figure this out. This week I take a while to think about what Magic would look like if Commander wasn't designed for. What cards would be the big problems, would Universes Beyond be as prevalent as it is? What format would take the place of Commander? This week we discuss going too deep and too greedily. That's right we are talking about the Dwarves coming out in The Hobbit set. With pre-release this weekend I wanted to point out a few of my favorite Dwarves, what they do, and how powerful I expect them to be. This week I take a long hard look at Bracket 4 and how the definition is the muddiest of the brackets. Yes, you want to go fast and win quickly, but no too quickly this isn't cEDH. You can't go too slow either because this isn't a Bracket 2-3 table either. I think a better definition is in order or something a little clearer to better help players build high power casual lists. This week I talk about the thing everyone is talking about. What is going on with the art of the Human characters in the Star Trek set? Why do they all give us an uncanny valley feeling? And why is Benedict Cumberbatch Sheoldred? Infinite mulligans, the bane of many player's existence. Do they really make you a terrible deck builder and player or can they be helpful so you can learn your deck without being punished? This week I want to talk about turbo. Can you go fast in casual or do you have to play cEDH to go as fast as possible. I go over some of the things that can set it back and the issues you may run into. This week I take a long hard look at Voltron decks and try to figure out how to get them to keep up in the Commander Arms Race. As the format goes faster and faster this play style is being left in the dust. Can we get it up to speed? After talking about the Marvel cards I am turning to you for help with building this Doctor Doom, Unrivaled list. Help me find the last few cards needed to make this thing the Doomsday deck of my creams. Full list here: https://moxfield.com/decks/GPYfdezm6k6X66S7vc4F_w?utm_source=moxfield&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=yjvv1&utm_content=sharedeck Links: Thrill of Possibility: https://w...

This week I talk about the Marvel cards. Are they good, are they bad, are they mediocre? Some of them look great and some have weird wording. I go over decks the ones I am excited for and the decks I plan to build from the spoilers I have seen so far. This week is all about PRIDE! In June for Pride Month Wizards errata all legendary creatures to have Partner. There are a lot of things you can do with this. I walk through some patron decks that had a fun time with their builds. It's time for crime! Grixis crimes that is. In Magic the Gathering targeting something on your opponents side of the table or just your opponent is a crime. I built a deck that commits as many crimes as possible until it can win in a few different ways. This week it's all about alternate win conditions in Magic The Gathering. The ones that no one complains about all the way to the bogey man of the format Thassa's Oracle. I give my thoughts on why I think they are so looked down on and why the others aren't as much. Links: Thrill of Possibility: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ThrillOfPossibility Arcane Collective: https://www.tcgplayer.com/...

This week I talk about the decks I had to say goodbye to and why. Was it play pattern? Was it that the deck didn't do what I wanted? Was it both? I tell you why and more. This week I talk about the issue with having too many decks and where my line of too many lies. Spoilers but the number is higher than the number of color combos in Magic.
