Brent Erwin is a 22-year […]

One of the many pleasures of comic book podcasting is that you get to talk to amazingly talented people… and sometimes you get to talk to amazingly talented people who you’ve idolized for decades.  Such is the case with this week’s interview. With a career in comics spanning 40 years, Jim Starlin was responsible for […]

In this the biggest comic book news week in years, Paul and Wayne go missing. Slackers.  No commitment, I say.  In the blinding flashpoint of this monumental news they were found wanting, consumed no doubt by fear itself. But that’s okay.  Aron, Tim and Andrew bring it this week. DC’s reboot and day-and-date digital distribution […]

Remember how we said that Sandbox Session 7 was our final sandboxing session? Well, we went and got ourselves a new player, which means we needed one more turn in the sandbox. In this episode, Andrew (aka New Jonathan) joins the team and we run him through character generation. While the artwork and title reveal […]

Ron Marz returns to the show to talk about his all new, creator-owned project – Shinku.  Shipping this week from Image Comics, Shinku tells the tale of vampires both in modern-day and feudal Japan.  There are samurai, motorcyles and lots of bloody killing.  It’s a terrific book. This week, both Paul and Wayne saw Pirates of the Caribbean, but not together.  It’s not like they’re dating or anything, though they do tend coordinate they’re wardrobe with freakish regularity.  At the theater, they had wildly different experiences.  Be that as it may, we all grooved to this week’s new Green Lantern trailer.  We […]

The first thing you have to understand about Daryl Gregory is that despite all evidence to the contrary he is not in fact British. I know, right? The next thing you need to know about Daryl Gregory?  He’s writing two of the best comics around.  His Dracula: Company of Monsters is simply the best Dracula […]

This week, a lot of folks called in sick… so they didn’t get to join us for our Thwipster.com conversation.  They didn’t get to lament the sad news of NBC’s Wonder Woman decision.  And they didn’t get to ruminate over the Smallville series finale.  That’s fine. Podcasting is done by those who show up.  So […]

Historians will designate the time we find ourselves in as A.T. (After Thor). That’s right, we now live in a world with not just a Thor movie, but an awesome Thor movie. All of your Funnybooks hosts saw it and in this week’s episode, we tell you all about it, Free Comic Book Day and […]

Let’s face it. This was not the most spectacular week in comics.  With a few noteworthy exceptions, it’s a rather lackluster stack of books.  That’s probably the reason we spend so much time in this episode talking about movies such as SUCKER PUNCH and GREEN LANTERN, Back Seat Box Office and Nanna.  Join Aron, Paul, […]

And so it is April… just a scant month away from Free Comic Book Day and, even more awesome, Free Funnybook Day.  It’s April and the birds are singing, flowers are blooming and your histamine levels are rising.  It’s April and the lawns are turning as green as Oa. Join Aron, Paul, Tim, Wayne and […]

EDITOR’S NOTE: Jonathan tells us that no show notes are needed for this episode of Cardboard Crack as “the title speaks for itself.”  We here at IdeologyofMadness.com are dubious on this point.  As such, we’d like to ask you: Does the title indeed speak for itself?  Is it truly a ’nuff said sort of situation? […]

Returning to the real world after three days of awesome at Word Wide Wing Night and Fear the Con 4 in St. Louis was brutal for your Funnybooks hosts.  But at least Warren Beatty had a good week., what with winning his rights back to make a Dick Tracy film.  And, hey, Neonomicon ended with […]
