Sam King and Jess Curtis

I Hear You

Sam King and Jess Curtis don't profess to be experts on all things... but they do have some thoughts on the matter. Through years of friendship and hours of voice notes, they have covered just about every topic - from being neurospicy, being queer, social injustices, what could be the meaning of existence, to body image, why kids won't listen to us and nervous poos. They are people that share the small stuff and the big stuff. Through it all they carry a firm belief - through shared stories and shared connections we find healing. No rough drafts xMade on Kaurna Land.

Ep23 - BONUS EP - Yapping Around the Christmas Tree 21.12.2024

In the week leading up to Christmas, we need to debrief. Christmas and all the societal expectations have us tired. As two retired people-pleasers, we're trying a new tradition - to do less. Ep19 - Unmasking Coercive Control & Cultivating Respectful Relationships with Dave Kramer 01.11.2024

Our young boys and men have inherited a sexist culture that harms girls and women. They didn't create it, they're not responsible for it, but they did inherit it, and they are responsible for and in control of what they do with it. They have a conscious choice to make. Will they continue to contribute to a culture that is unsafe for women, or will they commit to creating a culture that is safe for...

Ep18 - Feeling Stuck 26.10.2024

Vulnerable chats today with Sam and Jess - quite often we wait until after we feel resolved in an issue to talk about it so frankly in the public eye, but we're skipping over it today and processing while it's happening. Uncertainty can be a big, scary feeling, especially when it's relating to one of life's foundations (jobs, money, health etc.). Jess talks about her job and money instability and...

Sam shares her internal journey of cultivating self love through the development of self awareness. Ep12 - Making Friends as Adults with Tiff Cook 19.08.2024

Ever see a human out in the wild and think "I reckon I'd be mates with that person if we got to know each other!"? Well, Sam did, and so she decided to reach out to Tiff and see whether she'd like to come chat on the pod in a live demonstration of 'making friends as adults', haha! Another experiment in giving ourselves permission to be our weird, awkward, authentic selves...

Big loves and cuddles after this one...

Ep10 - Misinformation in Media is Harmful. 07.08.2024

Cheeky little mid-week ep, triggered by the media controversy surrounding Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. READ: Imane is NOT the controversy, the behaviour of everyday humans vilifying her is. WARNING: Lots of swearing, energy {rage} level eleventy-hundred. Moral of this long winded, waffled on story: let's be kind. When confronted with 'juicy news', can we learn to pause, get curious and...

Ep8 - Controversial Opinions 27.07.2024

CONTENT WARNING - This ep contains discussions about suicide and death. We're discussing controversial opinions! Here's some potentially odd things we think: - If you still hang out with the same group of friends that you've had since high school, I'm doubting your emotional growth - A formal education should not be a requirement for most jobs - Euthanasia should be available for s...

Ep6 - When is Trauma Big Enough to be called Trauma? 15.07.2024

Comparative suffering is defined by leading shame researcher and author Brene Brown as "ranking our suffering against that of others, which is then used to either deny or give ourselves permission to feel". Do you deny yourself permission to feel (and heal), by dismissing your own experiences of suffering as "not that bad?". Are you fearful of feeling like a victim? This is a l...

Ep5 - What's the Danger of a Diagnosis? 06.07.2024

We would really like to know... what is the fear around the rhetoric of 'too many people getting diagnosed these days'? Neurodivergence is on the up! Or at least it seems so. We discuss our thoughts on why we think we're seeing an increase, the place of the TikTok therapist and the choice to medicate. Spoiler alert (but an obvious one): we are all for knowing yourself better. And if a...

Ep4 - Embracing the Duality of Life 03.07.2024

Giving ourselves permission to feel ALL of our feelings, can be HARD! As human beings, we contain multitudes. In any given moment, we may be experiencing high highs, low lows, and sometimes, our circumstances place us in the midst of both ends of the spectrum at the same time. Without the intentional decision to 'feel it all', we can quickly find ourselves in a state of being all consumed...
