Man is an incurably religious creature, and we all inevitably bow at some shrine. It is either the worship of the true God or some false substitution. But what happens when God’s people refuse to bow to worthless idols, and what can we learn from their experience?

SET IN MOTION Daniel receives both the dream and interpretation from God, and discloses it to King Nebuchadnezzar. But the dream has implications for us today. There is a coming Kingdom which will forever displace all the kingdoms of this world.

The Holy Spirit opens the way for us to interact with God’s Word in understanding and gaining wisdom. It’s about obedience, not simply the right information. Daniel sought the Lord God Almighty as a first priority and received not only knowledge, but wisdom from God, that he might do good and influence others for good. God wants that for us - to employ reason and His revelation to make Him known.

Do you want influence? Seek faithfulness. Do you want to be powerful and wise in God’s economy? Then embrace the reality that this world is going to think you foolish. Do you desire power and strength and might? Then humble yourself and serve others! That’s the call of God!

It is our inward resolve that dictates our action in the moment of decision. Have you made the decision to follow Jesus? Are you resolved to follow Him no matter where He leads, even if it leads to your death? That is the stoutness of heart that is required to live in Babylon while staying true to Jesus. At the closing of this letter, Jude is very deliberate by the Spirit of God to not let the false teachers steal the spotlight. It would be easy enough to be consumed with them and make them the focal point and even build the ministry of the church around combatting them. Instead, as Jude wraps up, he takes great pain to remind us to keep the main thing the main thing.

Judgment is coming. It is predicted all throughout the pages of Scripture in great detail. It is the proper response of a holy God to sin in the lives of unrepentant rebels.

God is helping His people by PROFILING DECEPTION for us. He’s rendering aid against the enemy of our souls. This is a gracious thing for our heavenly Father to do, and it is for our good and for our protection.

God is not mocked. Every rebellion against God has failed and will fail. The only 2 options for the rebellious heart are Repentance or Retribution. This is the warning of Jude and it is much needed in our day.

The world needs to hear the Good News. We need to remember that you can’t improve on the Gospel! There’s no greater source of life, hope, and security in this world than the Good News of eternal life in Christ Jesus.

There are plenty of people in Church who believe some truths about the Kingdom and the King, but don’t follow Him. What about you? Are you simply embracing some facts about Jesus, or are you actively following the King?

The role of a King is as the ruler/leader/sovereign, and as such he sets the rules, standards and expectations for how things ought to be in His Kingdom. Being Kingdom Minded means that we embrace the reality that it all belongs to God. He's called us to be stewards, not owners. He gets our first and our best as an act of faith and worship.

We are called to daily extend the Presence of Jesus and the truth and love and God into our community and context. His Kingdom is real, it is a present reality, and it is coming to earth! God's children must become Kingdom Minded!

If you have a faith that works, you should have a faith that makes you faithful, because it’s a faith in a God who is faithful.

We typically don’t want anyone touching our money and our stuff, but Jesus insists. All through the text of Scripture, He insists that He is Lord over our finances, over our passions, over our pursuits in this life.

Jesus is not calling you to behavior modification. He is calling you to humble yourself and walk in obedience. He is calling His people to align themselves and their desires with His will, His Kingdom, and His agenda. That fundamentally requires humility.

A person will either move towards wisdom or folly. In order to understand pure wisdom, we must first be made pure ourselves That necessitates our need for the Holy Spirit.

If you’ve been saved by the blood of Jesus, then you are Christ’s ambassador. You represent Him as a first priority in every situation, endeavor, and relationship. What comes out of your mouth is a reflection of what is in your heart, and therefore validates or invalidates your ambassadorship in the eyes of those around you.

The works that James is hammering on here and in the rest of his letter, are not works that bring us into a right relationship with the King of kings. Rather, they are works that are an outworking of our submission to our King. Even demons have right theology. Is your belief becoming biography?

At the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ is level ground for all people. When it comes to value, all the distinctions, accomplishments, and feats that we use to set men and women apart from one another as “better” mean nothing to Jesus. They have no place in the Church of Jesus Christ as they divide His Body.
