East Bay Calvary Church

Spirit-filled husbands and wives reveal the relationship between Christ and the church––when we both submit to one another. Husbands, let's love our wives like Jesus loves the church, and care for them as our own bodies ought to be cared for. Wives, let's respect our husbands with the same reverent submission that we as a church show to our Savior. Singles – let's embrace the call to submit to one...

Church, we've spent long enough living thoughtlessly and foolishly, not taking note of the "weather" around us. Look carefully; buy up your opportunities; think sensibly about what God wants for you! We are eager to see what God will do as we welcome the Spirit's work in us together!

This pattern of put off – renew – put on leads us to ordinary and powerful changes! We defy a culture that denies that we can even do these things. We define a new culture within the church that unites us and builds one another up. We respond to God's very real presence with us. And even in these "small things," we reveal God's love and sacrifice in daily actions. What will you put off this aftern...

The world of amusement we live in is not how we learned Christ! Paul urges the believer to take off your old self to put on the new one - from a renewed mind within. What will you put your mind to today? How will you refresh your mind in Christ day by day?

So what did Jesus give us all these spiritual leaders for? To equip us – all of us – to build up His body, the people all around us! We've got plenty ahead of us to do, then: to get everyone active, to move to maturity, to watch for what would throw us, to grow up into Christ, and to build this body in love. Let's go!

Paul shows us in Ephesians that when you’re grounded in the gospel, you push—even from prison—for a matching walk that guards our unity with zealous energy, because of our oneness in Christ. So what's your passion for unity look like? Are you quick to cast people aside, or eager to raise others up to walk arm in arm for Jesus? Let's show that unifying energy for what Jesus died to bring together!

Join in listening as Guest Speaker Sean Patrick goes through his sermon 'The Miracle Story of Jesus'. It weaves a simple outline of his life on earth with a call to evangelism born out of Acts 1:8, Matthew 5:14, and Matthew 28:19-20. For the listener, it's a challenge to engage in the work of evangelism.

We love celebrating the things we are passionate about. The challenge is that our hearts are often more captivated by the things of this world than by God himself. As a result, we can miss the joy of authentic worship -- the very purpose for which we were created.

Jesus teaches us how to pray! But the form He gives is more than a "how-to" -- it guides our worship-filled relationship with Him! As you dwell on your relationship with our Creator, King, Savior, and Father, let this mindset and worldview bring you into deeper and richer prayer with our God.

We can get worked up over "the worship" on Sundays, but remember why we gather: to celebrate the gospel with God's people in the diversity of God's family! What is your heart rejoicing over and settling on as we come back home on this day of worship?

When our passion for God cools off, our drive to worship starts seeking other sources for hope, happiness, significance and security. But what we need isn't another amazing, mountaintop experience: we need the church! God created us for this community to sustain our worship, to center and re-center us on Jesus, to draw us together by the Spirit, and to root us in a radical new "ordinary" in God.

Has your love for others forgotten the cross? Has your faith in God forgotten to love others? Today we turned to our undivided Savior and found in Jesus both our righteousness and our salvation -- and now we worship God in both faith and action!

How do we embrace that fullness of responding to God in worship? Not in our own power, but in the power of the Holy Spirit, and trusting in the grace of God! May the Spirit guide your responses of belief, joy, contentment, commitment, and relationship with the Lord as you launch into this new week!

Worship fuels our sacrifice. When we know, love, and trust God, we're glad to entrust all we have and all we are to Him. How will you live this week as a "living sacrifice" to God, trusting Him with everything as Jesus lives in you?

God has revealed Himself -- and our worship must burst into words! Rejoice, root, and rehearse what we believe with one another; let your worship overflow into song, prayer, reading, and telling others the good news you have in Jesus!

Do you see God as holy? Do you have the hope that He is making you holy? Then let's worship the Lord in holiness: let's commit to set ourselves apart from this world's distractions and temptations, and to set goals for ourselves to be holy to the Lord. We're glad you came to worship the Lord with us!

Humanity has been chasing after glory, but in the wrong places. When we read God's Word, we find God’s glory in Jesus--and it must result in worship. Church, let's chase after glory! Let's find that glory in Jesus! And let's respond well to that glory in worship this week!

“It would be a shame if people never hear the music of the heavenly Jerusalem because the thunder of our Sinai drowns it out” (George Guthrie). Sunday's passage opens the door to the beautiful celebration before us in heaven – and how to live as people who have RSVP’d to the party!

When we're at our best, we want a coach that will shake us up to do the challenging things that we must to grow! Church--listen up! Hebrews 12:12-17 gives us our Coach's commands to run the race with endurance and to make the most of the Lord’s discipline.

People react in unhelpful ways when we face hardship in the Christian life. We wonder where God is, or what He’s up to, or what went wrong with Him! But God insists on training and correcting us as His children -- and we have to course-correct our minds and hearts even as we endure!

Easter isn’t just for celebrating Jesus and going home; it’s for running the race with Jesus, with endurance, together!

Many people wish for a stronger faith: a faith that sees great things happen, and that doesn’t fail under pressure. If you wish for a stronger, confident, braver faith, take heart from the legacy left by God’s people! Join us this Sunday as we dive into the last section of Hebrews 11. The work of God in them, by their faith in Him, still has further chapters to be written – in us!

As we socially disband and self-isolate, strengthening our faith individually leaves our faith still lacking—less whole than God meant for it to be. But have you noticed that even an extraordinary man like Moses committed himself to the shared faith of God’s people? We're combining last week's snowed-out message with this week's verses, walking through Hebrews 11:23-31 – and it will be great to se...

Time and again, older generations can get cynical about younger generations … particularly when they lose sight of God’s promises. But when a generation knows God's promises for those that are to come? A renewed faith in God’s promises brings fresh faith in God’s work for future generations! We'll take a fresh look at the forward-looking faith of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph this Sunday in Heb...

"This world is not my home, I'm just a-passin' through" … is an unexpected song to sing, when you feel really comfortable where you live! But faith in God has this effect: it changes how settled we feel here on earth. Are you willing to live as a stranger here – to be a citizen in heaven? Take a look at Hebrews 11:13-16 before jumping in with us this coming Sunday, and pray that God will set our h...
