Flooding events, including the current cataclysmic floods in the SE, have been worsening as predicted in climate models since the 1980s. While WNY is less likely to experience droughts, wildfires, and cataclysmic flooding, it must be remembered warmer air holds more water vapor than cooler air, making flooding events more likely with time. And, then there are the short-lived episodic wintry outbre...

In terms of physical destruction, the combination of precursor nontropical rains + Hurricane Helene is proving to be one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history, aided and abetted by the warming climate.

The forecast comes first, with widespread showers arriving by Friday evening, but thinning out on a much cooler Saturday, and a mainly dry, breezy, cool Game Day. Then, the story of my Facebook attack and FB suspension and META's terrible customer service.

We've re-muggified on Friday afternoon, with SCATTERED & OCCASIONAL showers & tstorms arriving later Friday night into portions of Saturday. Sunday will be drier, with a brief period of showers in the afternoon, ahead of a cool Labor Day. Please SHARE, FOLLOW.

A sometimes soggy and always Muggified weekend will be followed by a Chillified period early next week, and then a full recovery. Next, I have some thoughts on why the Farmers Almanac Winter Outlook is, essentially, worthless.

Seasonably summery temperatures return during the week with dry conditions until later Friday. Then, a slow-moving low pressure system brings periods of scattered showers and tstorms (not a steady rain) both days this weekend, followed by slightly coolish temps next week. PLEASE SHARE, FOLLOW.

Since we're in a benign weather pattern, I'm taking some time to offer a local and global climate inventory, to assist in seeing where we stand in terms of climate change. It's 15 minutes, longer than usual, but the needs a little more depth.

We ditch the excess humidity and get into an extended dry pattern, minus excessive heat.

Severe storms moved to our north Tuesday, and a drier and more comfortable pattern unfolds Wednesday afternoon. No "excessive heat" is in sight in WNY.
