Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and resident minotaur identifier Ian Anderson get stuck on a crazy island and pass the time by sitting around a campfire and regaling one another with tales of 1995's PRIMAL FORCE #3. That's right, after a month off, the Brotherhood of the Prime Ley is back in action! PRIMAL FORCE #3 is where the series really starts to hit its stride with Jack O'Lantern and Red Tornado becomi...

On this final spoooooooky season episode Matt tricks fellow HALLOWEEN superfan Sebastian O'Brien (host of TENTPOLE TRAUMA) into reading and talking about a comic that is most definitely no treat, 2001's HALLOWEEN II: THE BLACKEST EYES. That's right, Chaos Comics stab' (sorry/not sorry) at the HALLOWEEN franchise and the chaotic podcast DOES THIS COME IN CHROMIUM are together again for the first (a...

On this episode Matt and spooooky guest co-host Glitch decide they are too cool to attend the Halloween party at the Smithsonian so they steal a bunch of snacks and hide out in a backroom where they talk about 1995's WILDSTORM CHAMBER OF HORRORS #1. This is one of those episodes where the less said about it in the show notes the better.  You just have to experience it (and the inevitable resulting...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host/Matt's podcasting nemesis Wick probably do "The Time Warp" while watching a "Science Fiction/Double Feature" before finally getting around to talking about 1990's THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW THE COMIC BOOK #1. First and foremost, Matt has a confession -- he's never seen THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.  He wanted to.  He even tried to.  But then a sou...

On this episode Matt and fellow trick or treating enthusiast Eric Shonborn spend Halloween on the moon talking about 1996's LOBO/DEMON: HELLOWEEN. With spooooooooky season hitting the halfway point it was about dang time that Matt enjoyed a comic being covered on the show.  And boy oh boy, Matt indeed LOVES this comic.  It's about The Demon tricking Lobo to do a job for him on the moon and eventua...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Frank Pittarese quickly come to the realization that they would rather face down an army of the undead than talk about 1994's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ZOMBIE GENESIS #1. Technically this is a comic "based on" Matt's second favorite movie of all time, 1968's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.  But honestly, associating this comic with the movie at all is a gig...

On this extra special episode Matt has the honor of sitting down with JD McGibney (guitarist/composer from ANGELS ON THE BATTLEFIELD) for an incredible conversation that was supposed to be all about nerdy interests and how awesome JD's hair is, but instead evolves into a sometimes funny, often times moving discussion about mental health struggles and the work it takes to find peace within yourself...

On this episode Matt and the man responsible for teaching Michael Myers to drive, Bobby Trippett (co-host of the GRINDBIN PODCAST) hide in some bushes and yell at that little jerk Lonnie to get his ass away from the show so they can discuss 2000's HALLOWEEN #1. This is a comic based on Matt's all-time favorite movie, which means Bobby is as good as confined to Smith's Grove Sanitarium, forced to l...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Bobby Trippett (from the GRINDBIN PODCAST) try their best to be totally radical and like, you know, all that and a bag of chips while discussing 1994's GENERATION X #1. If listeners should expect anything from X-Men related episodes of Chromium, it's that Matt really doesn't know anything about the X-Men family - but does that stop him from constantly...

On this episode Matt is joined by reigning special guest co-hosts David Walton and Glitch to continue their discussion of all things Jeb Friedman as they revisit 1993's classic Jeb Friedman story REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN (in which all of the Supermen are Jeb Friedman). If you want to read along with this episode you'll need to grab your copies of ACTION JEB FRIEDMAN #688, JEB FRIEDMAN: THE MAN OF STE...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Robby Robertson try to figure out why someone would even want to eat the bitter fruit of a weed while discussing 1995's THE SHADOW AND DOC SAVAGE #'s 1 and 2. Matt and Robby have been friends in the podcast world for a few years now, but Matt realized that he really didn't know anything about Robby - like is he really a chef?  And a doctor?  Does he r...

On this episode Matt and Ian try their best to avoid being sassed by Cataclysm while they talk about 1994's PRIMAL FORCE #2! The issue by issue discussion of PRIMAL FORCE continues! Before getting into PRIMAL FORCE #2 Matt tells Ian all about their beloved Jack O'Lantern's first appearance, which can best be described as charmingly dark.  Then Matt tries to verbally edit a joke he tells in this ep...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-hosts A. Lee Martinez (author of UNBEARABLE - available now!) and David Walton (recovering from eye surgery now!) try to decide which one of them is going to be sacrificed while the other two eat ice cream and discuss 1993's RAVER #1. Regular listeners to the show will have seen it coming for a while now, but this is the episode that finally broke Matt.  T...

On this episode Matt and rookie Leyman Ian Anderson prepare to recite an awkwardly long oath by discussing 1994's PRIMAL FORCE #1. That's right folks, the issue by issue coverage of PRIMAL FORCE begins here!  Well, technically it began with the PRIMAL FORCE #0 episode, but now it's official.  Matt and Ian will be talking about the entire run of PRIMAL FORCE.  Issue by issue.  Or at least that's th...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Corey Blake try to avoid getting their butts kicked as they discuss the kick butt 1993 kick butt comic NIGHT THRASHER #1 (starring the kick butt Night Thrasher who does indeed kick butt). At one point Night Thrasher was the kick butt leader of the New Warriors, a truly kick butt team, but now he's a kick butt solo character.  The question is, does Nig...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-hosts David Walton and Glitch meet four super cool dudes (of which not a single one of them is totally evil) who are calling dibs on the name Superman as they discuss 1993's ACTION COMICS #687, SUPERMAN #78, THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #501, and SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL #22. That's right, the long promised discussion of the REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN finally b...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Bryan Q. Miller (writer of BATGIRL, SMALLVILLE, HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE) try their best to not breathe in the congealed air while discussing 1981's BATMAN VS. THE INCREDIBLE HULK. Both Matt and Bryan spent time working at Borders Books (RIP) so their conversation begins by talking extensively about BINC stickers and the prominent role t...

The DOES THIS COME IN CHROMIUM/THAT GIFFEN SHOW crossover extravaganza continues here! On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Al Sedano (host of THAT GIFFEN SHOW) participate in the grand comic book tradition of shameless crossovers by shamelessly bringing in surprise special guest star David Walton (DTCIC's resident existential crisis correspondent/possible griffin expert).  Is it a gimmi...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-Doctor Occult superfan Matthew Dow Smith (writer/artist of AMELIA SHADOWS, THE OCTOBER GIRL) try to determine if "pleasure can really be such amusing gallows" (WTF?) by discussing 1994's VERTIGO VISIONS: DOCTOR OCCULT. If you like extremely deep dives on characters most people haven't even heard of it (and face it, if you're listening to this show - you do...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Stacy (THE FANBOY POWER HOUR PODCAST) wake up in the far off future and instead of figuring out how to survive they decide to talk about 1993's DOOM 2099 #1. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better pitchman for DOOM 2009 than Stacy, whereas Matt is still upset at the series because he feels like it called him an idiot at a young age. So while Matt spen...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Dave Amiott (host of JUST THE FACTS...AND MORE!: A DRAGNET PODCAST) try to rent a VHS copy of James Cameron's Spider-Man movie while discussing 1995's GREEN GOBLIN #1. Matt's on vacation but he would like you to know that a lot of time in this episode is spent talking about how video stores used to work (a topic near and dear to his heart), and he sha...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-hosts A. Lee Martinez (author of many books including the upcoming UNBEARABLE) and David Walton (truly a listener favorite guest, even if he's too humble to believe it) run off to join the circus (of crime) but forget to do so because they get so wrapped up talking about 1998's AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL. Matt is on vacation so the show notes will not be as...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Neil Kleid (writer of MEDIEVAL, SAVOR, BROWNSVILLE and more!) sort through the stock at Rags 'n' Tatters while discussing 1991's RAGMAN #1. Ragman is a character that is frequently touted on comic book social media, but unfortunately has never managed to break through to a wider audience.  Will this podcast change that?  Probably not (this is DOES THI...

On this episode Matt and special guest layman Leyman Ian Anderson get shoved into a pool by a weird old woman and instead of drowning they spend the time talking about 1994's PRIMAL FORCE #0.  That's right, the often promised/threatened Primal Force episode is here! Regular listeners already know that Matt is a big Primal Force fan.  In fact, he may even be the prime Primal Force fan.  Or wait, is...

On this episode Matt and returning special guest co-host Glitch get blindsided by their discussion of 1996's BLINDSIDE #1. Before talking about the character of Blindside, Matt attempts to blindside Glitch with the history of the most bizarre television show he's ever seen.  Proving himself prepared for Matt's nonsense, Glitch not only knows the show but adds an entirely new level of weirdness to...
