LET'S GET THIS OVER WITH... While the Saw movies aren't considered high art, the first four at least had the added benefit of important things happening and being interconnected. This one... not so much. As the studio kept biding their time until they had to end the series already, a movie was mandated to be released in 2008, whether anything resembling a proper story was ready or not. It was inde...

"THE GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN." Despite Jigsaw's unambiguous and final death in Saw III , Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures wouldn't end the franchise when there was still money to be made. This resulted in the Hoffman tetralogy, with a secret third apprentice carrying on Jigsaw's will while the mastermind himself would be relegated to endless flashbacks explaining every nook and cranny. With this film...

"LEGENDS NEVER DIE." After the monumental success of Saw II quickly making the new franchise a mainstay in horror, a third film was quickly greenlit and produced for the year after. Unlike its predecessors, however, this one seemed to run into several problems and fundamental changes during production, mainly concerning whether or not this would be the end of the franchise. Despite said troubles,...

"OH, YES... THERE WILL BE BLOOD." Following the first film's unfathomable success, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures very quickly fast-tracked a sequel to be released the very next year, with James Wan and Leigh Whannell still remaining onboard in writing and producing positions. With Darren Lynn Bousman taking the director's chair, this highly-anticipated sequel goes even bigger and bolder with the...

LET THE MARA SAW N BEGIN! Long before they started the show last fall, the boys had one series of films in particular at the top of their list to tackle: the Saw franchise. Coming from humble beginnings, this film was the brainchild of recently-graduated film students James Wan and Leigh Whannell, and after its release, it would propel the two into Hollywood filmmaking stardom, while the franchise...

ONCE MORE, WITH LOTS OF PAIN. After twelve years away from the scene, the Jackass guys finally reunite with some new members for one last hurrah! Now that boys are older, the pain is far harder to come back from, and of course, they've only made the stunts and skits even more dangerous and disgusting. So, come watch with Alec and Brian as they finally take a look at the last bow from the world's f...

WE ACTUALLY ALMOST VOMITED FROM THIS ONE, PLEASE GOD VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. The Jackass guys are back at it again in the year 2010, so you know what that means: mandatory 3D-conversion! Despite this tacked-on gimmick used by studios at the time, nothing deterred the gang from going even wilder, grosser. and far more dangerous than anything that had come before. So, how does this stack up to...

DON'T WORRY, IT GETS WORSE! After nearly gagging their lungs out from watching the first movie, the boys are back at it again with the sequel! How does it up the ante? What aspects don't age well? How does the climactic skit/prank crash and burn? Come watch with Alec and Brian to find out as they revisit Jackass Number Two !

CONTENT WARNING, VIEWER DISCRETION IS SEVERELY ADVISED WE MEAN IT THIS TIME. Among many of the shared childhood experiences the boys had growing up, one that stood out was watching the Jackass movies while having no idea they were continuations of a TV show (that doesn't exist btw don't try to trick us). So, upon revisiting these comedy classics, how much can they stomach to watch without cringing...

THOSE WHO CLING TO DEATH, LIVE. THOSE WHO CLING TO LIFE, DIE. After four years of waiting, the highly-anticipated next chapter of the John Wick saga finally released back in March, with shocking developments riddled throughout. Not only is it hailed as the best in the franchise, sporting some of the most thrilling and beautiful action sequences, cinematography, and character work, but it also serv...

"I CAN FIX THAT." After suffering through the DCEUneral Screenings for nearly three months, we can finally go back to watching good movies! And what better way to ring in this period of freedom than by going back to a beloved childhood classic? Every millennial or gen-z'er has had to grow up with the tale of Stanley Yelnats, Hector Zeroni, and the boys of Camp Green Lake rattling around somewhere...

WAIT, I THOUGHT WE WERE DONE. Despite the DCEUneral Screenings finally coming to an end, Brian has made Alec promise in a blood pact that this film must be the epilogue to it all. Alec knows plenty about DC and the colorful, diverse characters that inhabit it, but knows nothing about the lore and characters residing in Rooster Teeth's RWBY. God help him. So, come watch with the boys as they suffer...

THERE IS ONLY A SHAZ'M. After thirteen weeks of too few highs and too many lows, we have finally made it to the ending of Boulder Punch's DCEUneral Screenings. And what better way to end it than a movie that just might sum up all of the franchise's problems? Making a sequel to Shazam! , one of the DCEU's only widely-acclaimed bright spots, seems like it should be a slam dunk, between setting up Mr...

THE RISE AND FALL OF THE DWAYNE DYNASTY Dwayne Johnson (when he still put "The Rock" in his stage name) was cast as Black Adam in 2007. It wouldn't be until fifteen years later -- in 2022 -- that he'd finally make his debut as the character. Everything was riding on this movie, after DC's past box office failures, as well as the changing-of-the-guard in the WB/Discovery merger that saw millions, e...

"IF THEY HAVE PURPOSE... SO DO WE ALL." Long before he became the thirty-seventh Kevin Feige of DC films, James Gunn flexed his "weirdo-z-list-characters-become-a-found-family" muscle by writing and directing The Suicide Squad , more of a soft-reboot than a direct sequel to its predecessor. While the film didn't do too well at the box office due to the ever-present pandemic and day-and-date stream...

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. After the success of her first Wonder Woman movie, Patty Jenkins quickly got to work on its sequel, this time with Geoff Johns co-writing the script with her. This would be the fixed point in the timeline that explains everything that follows, good and bad. But mostly bad. This movie has only furthered the curse of each DCEU movie being overwhelmingly divisive,...

IT'S KIND OF ABOUT THE TITULAR GROUP! KINDA! With separate solo projects revolving around Harley and the Birds of Prey circling the same drain that all the panic-pitches DC threw at the wall after the failure of Justice League , both finally saw the light of day as a Frankenstein-ed mashup in Cathy Yan's 2020 film. There's a lot that's been praised, such as the styling, performances, action, and s...

AND THE "MOM OF THE YEAR" AWARD GOES TO... Despite being one of the oldest superheroes in comics, the character formerly known as Captain Marvel never made it to the silver screen until 2019. Even during the superhero movie boom of the 2000's and with Dwayne "The Dwayne" Dwayneson attached to the project as Black Adam as far back as 2007, it took ages for Billy to finally say the magic word on the...

OCEAN MAN, TAKE ME BY THE HAND! After the colossal failure of 2017's theatrical cut of Justice League , the future of the DCEU looked to be dead in the water. However, that all changed when one year later, the long-overdue Aquaman film finally released, earning $1 Billion and becoming DC's biggest commercial success since the Dark Knight trilogy. However, the film itself was far from perfect, garn...

HALLELUJAH! After nearly three years of many fans demanding for the release Zack Snyder's original version of Justice League -- with displays of support ranging from incredibly heartfelt to bizarre and insane -- they finally got what they wished for when Zack Snyder's Justice League was released on HBO Max in March 2021. Before we watched it on release, we didn't know exactly what to expect, only...

AKA "JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. SUPERMAN'S CGI MOUTH." After the release of Batman v Superman and the divisive reactions that it spawned, production the subsequent year's Justice League was, shall we say, sabotaged to oblivion. Even people who aren't fans of Zack's take on DC's heroes could see the truth to the hellish production and post-production it went through, especially as more things came to light...

UNNECESSARY BIG CGI MONSTER THIRD ACT BATTLE GO BRR. After nearly eighty years of only ever appearing in television, animated, and video game adaptations of her comics, Wonder Woman finally leapt to the big screen in the DCEU, first in BVS , and then in her own solo movie a year later. After three misses with audiences and critics, nobody seemed to expect much from this film in the lead-up to its...

"THIS IS KATANA, SHE CAN CUT THIS ENTIRE MOVIE TO SHREDS JUST LIKE MOWING A LAWN." In an attempt to have their own marketable team of misfits set to copyrighted music, DC made plenty of eyebrows raise when announcing that the third movie of its universe would be Suicide Squad , helmed by one David Ayer. And when you take a studio not willing to commit to a tone, a filmmaker who was only given six...

GRAPHIC DESIGN COURTESY OF LEXCORP, LLC. The DCEUneral Screenings continue with the second entry in the doomed universe, Batman v Superman ! This film has become outright infamous for arguably being the most divisive and controversial mainstream comic book film to date, with rabid fanbases arguing for and against it to this day. Alec and Brian are firmly in the camp of people who don't enjoy a mov...

THE DCE(F)UNERAL SCREENINGS BEGIN! With the already highly-divisive Flash movie only a few months away and aimed to reset DC's messy film universe, we figured it was high time to look back and rewatch all the movies in it thus far. First up on the chopping block is the one that started it all, Zack Snyder's Man of Steel . This universe came out of the gate swinging with incredibly mixed responses...
