Talking about some great things!

Instead of the Sunday Surf Podcast, I thought I’d just talk about surfing this Wednesday a little bit. I’m turning 30 soon, so will I still get better at surfing? Let’s find out how I may?

Billy is a Musician from Mongolia who I met at my new job working at Noma Sushi. We instantly hit it off and have been having some cool discussions about music: Jazz and EDM, and life. 

1) Provide more value than you are asking for to everyone you interact with. 2) Practicing understanding rather than frustration at people who feel entitled to your service. If I can hone in these two key elements in my relationships, I think they could be huge pillars to my success.

Talking about the fundementals of life, maintaining drum practice, working on a new song, and just the idea that if I could write songs acoustically, it will lay the foundation to be able to really work freely with the computer.

I have been studying the talking drum with Francis Awe for several years. He is a master dfummer from Nigeria. In this interview we talk about his experience recording music for Michael Jackson, his relationship with drumming, life and more.

Breaking down what goals I want to do this week. Five hours of drum practice. Hopefully having a weekly podcast about my progress will help me stay on track with my goals in music. Finding the balance been setting goals that help and don’t hurt. Also talking about not setting goals that break integrity with myself, but also not setting a goal that is too small. And other thoughts about the process...

When it comes to putting out music, videos, whatever... I gotta have goals for putting them out by a certain deadline, rather than just saying my goal is to work on this song for X amount of time. Because otherwise you can “work” on something for 3 hours and never really get anything done.
