This week Rocky has a lot of guitar heroes that show off their flatpickin' skills. Roy Curry, Clarence White, David Grier, and Doc Watson just to name a few. Plus, how could you go wrong with the greatest singer of all time (Emmylou Harris) singing a song written by the greatest songwriter of all time (Townes Van Zandt)? Enjoy!

This week Rocky debuts a new track from Alison Brown, Steve Martin, Del McCoury and Dan Tyminski that should be familiar to the young whippersnappers out there. You like the Beatles and the Stones? Well Rocky spins a set of bluegrass covers of classic rock tunes. Plus as he returns from a trip through India, he plays a track from the collaboration between Bela Fleck and Zakir Hussain that is sure to mesmorize.

This week's show features a track from the legendary Kitchen Tapes of Red Allen & Frank Wakefield that signifies the end of Summer. And even if we are ready for the cooler fall temperatures, we keep the heat coming with Dan Tyminski doing his Ode to Jimmy Martin, Billy Strings driving Ten Thousand Miles, and Jerry Douglas delivering a solo dobro performance for the ages. Bill Monroe, Father of Bluegrass Music, was born on September 13, 1911, so this week's show is a birthday tribute to the man who started it all. Rocky spins Monroe singing his own songs and playing his own tunes as well as other folks covering his songs and people who were once Bluegrass Boys doing their own thing too. Happy Birthday Bill! An always tight band put together by Doyle Lawson kicks things off and Rocky takes us on a string music journey that leads to Jazz-focused but bluegrass adjacent guitar icon Bill Frisell by the time the hour is up. Two absolute legends join Rocky this week. One plays the banjo like no one else on earth, and one sings with a voice that comes from another planet altogether. Bela Fleck and Renee Fleming are two artists at the absolute top of their fields and they have partnered up for a new album called The Fiddle and the Drum. This week they join Rocky and have a conversation you will not want to miss.
