The Resident Evil Podcast

The third entry into our RECollection series see's the team take a nostalgic look back at the final entry into the mainline classic trilogy that came out on the PlayStation 1. Perhaps more so than any of the others PSX entries, the original RE3 is notably different from its recent remake and for that reason many lament some of the legendary locations absent from the 2020 revision. As with this min...

Time to strap in as the podcast team reconvene to discuss the latest live-action film adaptation, this time with renowned horror writer-director Zach Cregger of Barbarian and Weapons fame taking the reins. As well as discussing in-depth everything we liked and didn't like, we address the controversies about the canon and lack of connections, why Cregger decided to go in this direction, the critica...

Our 30th anniversary celebrations continues with a mini-cast featuring the all time classic - Resident Evil 2. Now heralded as one of the best survival horror games ever made, upon release not everyone on REP was quite on board with the series at this point and indeed for some, would come much later.  We now recollect our memories of first entering into the RPD, the intertwining narrative and admi...

As Resident Evil turns 30 years old, REP presents a brand new series of mini podcasts celebrating the first 4 titles in the franchise in a new bitesize format.  Join the team as we RECollect that first tantalizing title and in doing so how we all got into the series in the first place. We look at the enduring legacy that the mansion incident laid for survival horror and why we all hold this game i...

Way back in 2006, Capcom released Resident Evil Deadly Silence, a port of the original 1996 classic to celebrate 10 years of the franchise. Of course, Deadly Silence would also include the REbirth mode - a new way to play through the Spencer Mansion taking full advantage of the DS's hardware/gimmicks depending on your point of view! 20 years on STARS TyranT, Rombie and Neptune revisit this quirky...

Welcome to REP's audio commentary for the third feature length CGI Film - Resident Evil Vendetta.  Hopes were high going into the original release of this film, the prologue seemed scary, Chris and Leon team up again and the further return of Rebecca Chambers pumped up the expectations of another bioweapon flick. Sadly this film did not impress at the time and with this commentary, many were retur...

Another Resident Evil gets the remake treatment with its reveal at Summer Games Fest 2026. Rumours had been rife a week before the show and indeed kicking the presentation off was this 4 minute trailer highlighting Claire's investigation in Paris and subsequent capture. With a slightly new name, Resident Evil Veronica will be a reimagining of this beloved (but poor selling) classic title - and one...

With Resident Evil Requiem now well and truly embedded in the fandom, we open up the floor to the REP Community with their comments and feedback on this explosive title.  As always, expect a mix of praise and criticism and analysis from the fans as Neptune, STARS TyranT and Rombie all react to points missed in previous podcasts or general commentary oh their time with Requiem.  We send our big tha...

It's that time folks where the REP team convene to discuss all things lore as a result of Resident Evil Requiem. A candid discussion sees us break down the key story points, including Grace's origins and the secret cloning program, Spencer's motivations for adopting a child, what his objective really was, and the whole deal with Ark and Elpis. We also debate the differences between retcons and rec...

Resident Evil Requiem is here! The first new original story in the franchise in 5 years sees Capcom take its boldest steps yet. A new protagonist and daughter to an Outbreak legend teaming up with series stalwart, Leon S. Kennedy. A mysterious virus affecting Raccoon City survivors and the return of zombies. Throw in a new style zapping system, optional gameplay perspectives and the apparent harmo...

With just over a month away from release, the REP Team take one final look at Resident Evil Requiem following the recent RE Showcase and gameplay reveal. Expect a thorough examination of what was shown with two inventory systems, the gore, possible zapping systems and whether Capcom can nail the tonal shift between Leon and Grace's gameplay. Needless to say theories are thrown out like confetti -...

Following our popular podcast last year of the original trilogy and its impact on the survival horror genre, we return to examine the most influential RE title on the wider gaming industry - Resident Evil 4. 20 years since its original release, the mechanics of the gaming loop have impacted so many titles, that we felt it prudent to take a closer look at the horror games that came after with recom...

Welcome to a deep-dive on one of the key lore elements of the entire franchise. The t-virus is what started it all, creating the various zombies and monsters we have all fallen in love with for almost 30 years now. In this episode, we extrapolate the virus from top to bottom, going back to its origins with the Progenitor Virus, then looking at the entire history of Umbrella's t-virus project, disc...

Released in the United States 20 years to the day, the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 marked a major first in the Biohazard series - the first subsequent re-release with a major canonical add-on in the form of the wonderful Separate Ways campaign. At the time whilst such a notion greatly annoyed GameCube owners, many saw Separate Way as the extra that "saved the game" in terms of connection to the...

With Capcom building up the hype nicely for Resident Evil 9 at recent gameshows, we thought it would a good idea to discuss the recently released (albeit limited) demo that was made available at Gamescom 2025. To bring some first hand impressions to the table, REP is delighted to have legendary content creator, writer, voice actor and all round biohazard superfan, Suzi the Sphere Hunter join Neptu...

In what can be described as one of the last canonical spin offs in the Resident Evil series, Revelations 2 is now a decade old - so what better opportunity to return to this hellish island and see how this early PS4/Xbox One title holds up 10 years later.  A known favourite game of George Trevor and most of the team as a whole with credit often being given for bringing horror back to the series. C...

Has it really been 20 years? 20 years since the sequel that forever changed the series, that became so divisive that it split the fan community, and yet was so groundbreaking it won numerous awards, spawned dozens of imitations and is likely the reason Resident Evil is still going strong to this day? Join the REP crew as we take you through the game from beginning to end, recounting new stories al...

Finally after what has felt like an endless wait, Capcom have formally announced Resident Evil 9 by debuting a trailer at Summer Games Fest - and boy did it surprise! In a move no one was anticipating, we are returning to the ruins of Raccoon City in a somewhat fitting move as we approach the 30th anniversary of the series. But perhaps even more surprising was the reveal of a new protagonist, Grac...

The title says it all! With Resident Evil 9 still someways off, we take this unusually lenghty gap between announcements from Capcom (in fact we think it's the longest in the 30 years of the series) to delve into the possibilities of what is next to come for our favourite horror franchise. Such has been the gap, we have not really done a podcast like this since the pilot and together with comments...

Welcome all as we bring the curtain down on our year-long Resident Evil Outbreak retrospective. We are down to the last scenario of File 2, the aptly named End of the Road, and battle Hunters, Zombies and a quite relentless Tyrant as we all make a break to escape Raccoon City before the missile (or is is missiles?) drop.  Getting Linda Baldwin to safety can potentially save millions of lives, but...

We've made it! 100 episodes proper and what better way to celebrate than with the return of our feature-length Resident Evil themed quiz - Biohazard STARS! Now in its 4th iteration, Neptune hosts the biggest Biohazard STARS yet - a whopping 14 rounds to test your mind and stamina to the very limits. Alongside Neptune is the full REP Team - team captains TheBatman and Rombie are joined by STARS Tyr...

Our File 2 celebrations continue as this time the REP team head deep into Raccoon Forest to investigate a mystery that has been ongoing since 1993 when Kurt, a reporter from Raccoon City, went mysteriously missing following rumours of illegal goings-on at an old hospital in the mountains. Join us as Neptune comes face to face with Al Lester and his axe, and listen to STARS_TyranT's increasing desp...

Welcome back to the Raccoon City outbreak, this time with the somewhat overlooked Outbreak File#2 and its first two scenarios - Wild Things & Underbelly. In true REP fashion in these happy birthday podcasts, we take you through each chapter, beginning to end reliving our experiences (and in some cases, demise) both at the undead Raccoon City Zoo and then in the Underground station. How will we...

Welcome to a somewhat experimental episode of the Resident Evil Podcast where the team looks back specifically at the original PSX trilogy and the influences in horror gaming that our beloved title drew from. This means an examination of some older horror titles that shaped the industry before Biohazard including Sweet Home, Alone in the Dark and Clock Tower with an analysis on what aspects worked...

We've held out long enough and today we are back with our audio commentary of the 4th live action Resident Evil movie, Afterlife. With P.W.S Anderson back in the director's chair and fully embracing 3D as well, join Neptune, Rombie and first time viewers of the film, STARS TyranT & George Trevor in this watcha-along.   How does this film stack up some 14 years since release? Can we make any se...
