Scare Value Podcast

The Scare Value Boys trip to Asia begins in Japan with a discussion of 2017 independent marvel One Cut of the Dead.  Pete is being a grump because they "didn't actually go to Japan"...but he loves the movie, nonetheless.  Stick around to find out how they find a comparison for this film to Rocky and, of all things, the Jackass franchise. The Scare Value Boys tackle a two-year long issue when they sit down to revisit the 2023 hit movie M3GAN.  When they saw the movie together upon release...Pete claimed to like it.  He’s since spent two straight years claiming it was terrible while having never watched it again.  Will he still think it's bad this time?  Special bonus game:  Guess which one of us had pneumonia during this recording!...

The entire Scare Value Podcast crew joins together (separately) to record a script read through for the 50th anniversary of Jaws.  There was a slight hitch in the process...as we discovered the night before that the script from Jaws doesn't exactly match the classic lines and moments from Spielberg's masterpiece.  Undaunted, the script was hastily re-written from memory to truly honor this momento...

The Scare Value Podcast takes on a bold new direction.  Instead of the usual nonsense...they adapt a popular horror movie podcast format for the first time ever.  The boys discuss Terrifier 3 in a way that they have never approached a movie before.  After this...I can safely say...in a way that they never will again. You wanted a format?  I've got your format right here. Check out our stuff on htt...

With a Friday the 13th just days away, the Scare Value Boys continue their haphazard journey around Camp Crystal Lake.  This time around they're checking out Jason vs. Telekinetic Tina!  Will there be another blue shirt conspiracy?  Who are all these people?  Where will their Friday the 13th plane land next? Check out all our stuff on https://scarevalue.com

Kitty joins Pete and Bryan for a discussion about the classic Easter horror/comedy Critters 2.  A movie that's a lot of fun and pays off nothing in the appropriate way.  Who will remember less about the original Critters movie...Kitty who saw it as a child...or Pete who watched less than a year ago?  I think you already know. With the long-awaited Final Destination: Bloodlines set to hit theaters this week...Pete and Bryan are joined by a returning Mark to discuss the original film 25 years later.  Did watching it in two segments split over six weeks have any ill effects on Pete's viewing experience?  Did they really name a character Clear Rivers?  Why did Alex spend the entire movie trying to solve Death's design only...

The Scare Value boys love Jack Quaid so much they rush to watch this year's Companion.  Massive spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't seen it yet...they talk about every twist and turn in this wildly entertaining movie.  Does Iris have the best Final Girl story in recent memory?  Why did the advertising spoil the first big twist?  How many things did Pete miss when he watched it?  Plus, the usual...

David Lynch month comes to a close with a visit to Club Silencio in 2001's Mulholland Drive.  It's a first time watch for Pete...and an old favorite for Bryan.  Will they see anything the same way this time after failing to find common ground on Lost Highway?  Of course not.  Why would we even bother at that point? Check out our stuff on https://scarevalue.com

David Lynch month continues with a Scare Value Podcast discussion of Lost Highway.  It's a first time watch for Pete...who we discover is incapable at taking anything at other than face value.  Bryan tries to survive what amounts to a discussion between two people who watched completely different movies.  So, you know...the usual. Check out our stuff on https://scarevalue.com

David Lynch month continues with a watch-along of Bryan's favorite David Lynch movie...Fire Walk with Me.  Will Pete look at him differently after watching this horrifying depiction of sexual assault and despair?  Or did he always kind of know what he was into?  That and absolutely no questions answered in any definitive way on this week's Scare Value Podcast. Check out our stuff on https://scarev...

David Lynch month continues on the Scare Value Podcast with 1986's Blue Velvet.  A first time watch for Pete...and an old favorite for Bryan.  Will Pete like the more straight-forward narrative more or less than the fever dream that was Eraserhead?  How Twin Peaks does Blue Velvet get?  Can Vin Diesel life Mjolnir?  All this and (slightly) more on this week's Scare Value Podcast. The Scare Value boys try to solve one of film's greatest mysteries..."what is happening in The Accountant?".  They investigate the 2016 Ben Affleck movie the only way it can be done...watching the last seven minutes and trying to piece together a cohesive narrative.  Anna Kendrick gets a painting.  JK Simmons attends a press conference.  There's something about an autism center.  John Lithgow show...

Bryan faces his childhood fears and watches Return to Oz for the first time in 40 years.  It's a (possible) first time watch for Pete...will he understand what traumatized his cohost for the last four decades?  A rare in-depth breakdown of the movie awaits those bold enough to revisit this children's nightmare. Check out all our stuff at https://scarevalue.com

Bryan finally gets Pete to watch his #1 movie of the 21st century.  They discuss how messed up it is that he hadn't bothered to do so before now before diving into an It Follows conversation.  How creepy is Paul?  Is Hugh a bad guy?  Who can lift Thor's Hammer?  You know...the basic It Follows questions. For all our stuff check out https://scarevalue.com

Pete demanded it...and now it's happening.  After spending most of the last year trapped in 1986, the Scare Value Boys present the 1986 Scare Value Awards.  Which nearly 40-year-old movies will take home the coveted Scary award?  Aliens vs. The Fly. From Beyond vs. Friday the 13th Part VI. Little Shop of Horrors vs. Blue Velvet.  Most importantly...who was the best Dick Miller of 1986?  And you ju...
