People and churches who bring these three values together are the ones making a difference in the world. As obvious as it may seem, you can’t make an impact on the world around you if you’re focused on yourself. However, God has a way of blessing your life richly when you live as if it’s not all about you. In an attempt to please people, sometimes churches and Christians lose their foundation. In so doing, they lose the source of their power. Some see being relevant as selling out but it’s the first step in making an impact in the world around you. You can’t influence a world that you’re not a part of. It’s been said that a “rising tide lifts all boats.” That’s questionable in economics but certainly true with God. Whole nations have benefited from the faithfulness of a few. Most of the time the only thing between us and our goals is our lack of discipline. Either we go too hard and burn out, or we get tired and quit prematurely. It’s been said that life is too short to learn only from your own mistakes. Sadly, sometimes we don’t even learn from our own. In order to conquer what lies ahead of us, we have to become students of our and other’s past successes and failures so we... At St. John, we are passionate about helping people take the next step on their LIFEjourney. Now, we are doing that together, unified as a church. A “step” doesn’t diminish the past or elevate the future, but it celebrates the courage of the action.
