Let’s Improv a Story

Let's take a Star Trek movie from 1998 and try to script doctor it. Can we save the patient? You're going to wish you had one of those little futuristic flashlight things that heals wounds when you get a look at this sicko! Hypospray, stat! *If you'd like more from this creator, please check out his book: MODERN ELF. The book is available on Amazon Kindle and the link is below. It's like "The Offi...

Let's make a spiritual successor to the first Ghostbusters, one of the great small business stories of all time. Regulations, employees, commercial real estate--are those things exciting? Gambit--he's cool! But is he too cool? Are roads getting icy? Is he a slip and fall risk? No more nonsense. Let's give him an upgrade, make him more central to the major players in the X-Men, maybe give him an aesthetic tweak, and of course, improv a story for him. (Also--thought of this later-- he should be immune to his own explosions.) *If you'd like more from this creator, please check out his...

If you have the toys, play with the toys. So let's play with some of the greatest toys ever: Star Wars toys! Can we come up with an X-Wing TV series? Absolutely! The Terminator franchise — let's not think about it! Instead, let's try to come up with one good Terminator movie idea. But what genre of movie is it? Horror? Action? Sci-fi? "I don't care for Optimus Prime," is not how I feel, but it certainly is something someone could say. On this episode, let's re-launch the Transformers to make them more relatable to human beings. And someone might ask, what's not relatable about giant, alien, transforming robots? Exactly! (*Note: The title refers to the classic Transformers tagline and not specifically to the comic book series of...

In this episode let's come up with a story for an animated version of The Legend of Zelda. They're making a live action movie and that sounds hard! So let's give ourselves a break and just work on what to bring in from the games and what kind of story would suit an animated version. Grab your piece of the Triforce and let's go on an adventure!

Here's a rainy day episode that I recorded early. It's not done on the fly, but it's something that's been stuck in my mind for a while. It's an MCU X-Men rollout plan I dreamed up. What movies? What characters? In what order? What stories and genres? And what does it all build to? Let's find out together! (Even though for once I actually know ahead of time.)

This episode is about something: a show about nothing. In this episode, let's try to come up with a story for an ill-advised Seinfeld reunion. Why ill-advised? Because it would probably be bad, if only because it could never meet expectations. So come on, let's have fun trying to come up with some good ideas for this bad idea!

Here's a tricky one to figure out! The less because of time and more because of tone. So let's jump right in, before I make an unnecessary reference or a silly joke. "Marty!!" Oops.

Welcome to Latveria! In this episode, we come up with a story for a graphic novel where Doctor Doom puts on his metal pajama pants and stays home. What’s Victor like when he putters around his own country? Let’s find out. Bring your oil can!

In 1983, George Lucas released “Return of the Jedi” and then didn’t make a Star Wars movie for 16 years. But what if he kept making them? Let’s come up with a story for a Star Wars film with a 1986 release date. May the fun be with us! *For a wealth of knowledge on the making of the six George Lucas Star Wars movies, please see: “The Secret History of Star Wars: The Art of Storytelling and the Mak...

This week, let’s try to come up with a sequel to Titanic. It’ll happen eventually! First, what should we call it? “More Titanic”? “To Float or Not to Float”? “Boat Don’t Float?” Don’t worry, none of these are discussed in the episode.

In this first episode, we create a story for everyone’s favorite wall crawler: Spider-Man. What about his character does or does not make for a good story? Would you like to hang out with Spidey? What favorite movies could we throw Spidey into? Let’s work together and try to make a story that could actually swing into comic book stores one day!
