Free Range Idiocy

Once again, we have reach that portion of the professional wrestling calendar when all attention turns to ladders and briefcases that are more coveted and mysterious than the one from Pulp Fiction. Who is going to damn near cripple themselves on a rather innocent looking piece of Home Depot hardware? Who will get the open contract to cash in for a championship opportunity at any time? Are they rei...

No, we won’t be talking about tax codes or that time Tim slammed a delicate part of his anatomy in a car door while wearing his first and only pair of Hammer pants… we’re talking about movies. And it’s not so much the movies that are going to hurt as the time period in which those movies were released. And it’s not so much t...

With the world in its current spiral, I think we can all agree that there’s plenty of sadness and trauma already, so we should focus on positive, uplifting things. It’s come to our attention that as of late, we’ve been a bit wrestling heavy in our shows. And we also acknowledge that perhaps there’s a decent portion of our audience who may find that distressing and/or annoying. Well folks, I have some good news for you – we’re talking about Star Wars today! Unfortunately, we’re also talking about wrestling – so either everyone is gonna be happy or nobody is g...

When it comes time to have a good ol’ fashioned argument, nothing gets the blood boiling like starting up the Greatest of All Time discussion. Fur will fly, spit will be spat, and more than likely someone is going to get into a drunken brawl on their grandmother’s front lawn with the cops getting called to eventually haul some pantless degenerate off to jail for the tenth time that year. Or, as I...

No matter what anyone thinks, there are no guarantees as to which gimmicks in professional wrestling will get over. After all, there was at least one person who thought that the Shockmaster was gonna be dynamite or that kids would actually like the Gobbldigooker instead of running in terror from a grown man in a mutated turkey costume. But even in the rough and tumble world of wrestling, it’s not...

When it comes to monetizing professional wrestling and parting customers from their human monies, WWE has set the gold standard for decades. Whether we’re going back to the days of foam title belts, Hart Foundation posters, or Austin 3:16 shirts the good folks in Stanford Connecticut have always found a way to appeal to their fans. But they can’t all be winners, right? So this week, we’re gonna di...

Well kids, it’s safe to say that Marvel has righted their ship for the moment and seem to be steaming in a rather healthy and profitable direction. It’s made more than $1.67 billion dollars globally after two weeks and is now the fourth biggest movie in the MCU behind Endgame, Infinity War, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Which is all well and good if you own Disney stock, but for hoi polloi like us,...

The dust has settled on the first ever two-night SummerSlam, and it seems that… by some miracle… reviews have been mostly positive for WWE’s first daliance into trying to duplicate the gate of WrestleMania. Aside from a moonsault that went awry and a whole bunch of tarped seats in the upper levels, things seem to be pretty good. So before we can collectively regain our senses, let’s dive in and se...

Well folks, here we are at the final week of Ted Lasso… until the beginning of August, when we get season four! But in the meantime, we’re digging into the final season of what will probably wind up being referred to as the original trilogy or something equally lame. At any rate, as Trent Crimm would say, this is the culmination of all the moments and lessons learned from Ted’s time at AFC Richmon...

In an odd sort of way, the first season of Ted Lasso is more Empire Strikes Back. Most everyone agrees that it’s a solid banger all the way through and in spite of ending on a downer, there’s still the hope of what’s to come. So as we head into season two this week, I suppose this is either A New Hope or perhaps Revenge of the Sith, depending on where you stand with regards to the prominence of Na...

Are you feeling down on the general state of the world? Feeling like you’re losing faith in humanity? Did you at one time chuckle when people were rooting for an asteroid to obliterate all life on Earth rather than choose a political candidate for office but have now fully shifted into an affinity for astronomy and have a genuine rooting interest in the sweet release from an Earth-shattering kaboo...
