First Respodcast: A 9-1-1 Watch-Along

WE'VE FINALLY MADE IT!!! We've finally summited the arduous mountain that is season six of 9-1-1. It truly felt like it would never end. Hear us discuss the underwhelming finale to this underwhelming season. They really thought they were going to end the ENTIRE SHOW with THIS?! A season so bad, we're taking a hiatus after this. Listen to our latest Patreon episode where we watched disaster movies...

Heterosexuality is in the air! The 118 race to the rescue and, like, guys... imagine how tired we are. Not even a BASE jump-turned marriage proposal gone wrong can save the good, quiet-quitting people at 9-1-1 from the perils of mediocrity, but hey. We'll always have Natalia. This week's season 6 episode is completely middle-of-the-road. But we were able to find some entertainment in our new OC Junkyard Jim, the sizzling pairing of Eddie and Ravi, and the evergreen Oscars debate. This week, we're pretty much back to boring season 6 episodes. Eddie tries to schedule a visit with his mom who sucks, Buck gets a love interest that he has negative chemistry with, and Athena dully tries to detain the dreaded Dominic Dawson, denounced for his dastardly deeds, but determines him decidedly deceased. But at least there's a reasonably fun, Everything Everywhere All At Once-style, 'Ma...

You can take a breath of fresh air this week, because this episode of season 6 was actually alright!!! Finally, an episode that doesn't suck. This episode had an actual story, emotional stakes, and even an Eddie who is going to be gay. Feels pretty damn good. This week, in one of 9-1-1's stupidest chapters, Buck has a ham-fisted It's a Wonderful Life alternate-reality coma dream. For no reason! It stinks! This week it's another boring and lame season 6 episode. Except at the very end something mildly interesting but narratively misguided happens. Hear us discuss season 6's NOT Halloween episode, Cursed. An episode with an okay A plot in which Eddie actually gets close to having chemistry with a woman! Unfortunately, the B plot is just a deluge of unwanted information about Buck's jizz. If you're going to write an episode all about Buck's come, at LEAST make it homoerotic. Boo!!! Buckle up for one of our most negative nancy episodes yet. We were tragically not impressed by 9-1-1's Henren-focused, 'N.A.S.A. gets exploded' episode. But at least they used the original version of Mustang Sally. Hear us discuss a typical season 6 episode: Kinda dull and of little importance! We liked the Hoover content. We'll give them that. Join us for a classic 'Ryan and Jane complain for over 90 minutes' First Respodcast episode. Sorry! It's season 6! Take us as we are or leave us! We talked a lot about Buck's sperm AND came up with a brand new Buddie household item theory, does that make up for it?? CONTENT WARNING: This episode includes non-graphic discussion of CSA/pedophilia and child murder. It's a heavy episode of 9-1-1! We don't go into much detail but viewer discretion is advised. No timestamps because it's more like the general plot of the episode we're discussing than specific moments. This week we cover one of 9-1-1's most harrowing (and in our opinion, effective) episodes: the culm...

We're crashing and learning this week discussing the 9-1-1 episode Crash and Learn. We have mixed feelings! While Athena does awesome moody Southern gothic things in her hometown, the 118 respond to some really lame calls, Buck is annoying, and Hen almost dies trying to be a doctor and a paramedic at the same time. The moral of the story? We're really excited for next week's episode. Listen to our...

It's finally time to start unpacking season 6, and Jane's SISTER IS HERE!!! Haven't you always wanted to hear about 9-1-1 from the perspective of a viola DMA candidate? Us too. Unfortunately for her, Bobby and Athena do NOT make it to their cruise ship honeymoon in this episode. We've finally reached the conclusion of season 5! Hear us go in depth on this rather mediocre, anticlimactic finale. At least it had lesbianism! We're back this week with a recap of a gripping late-season episode! Auteur Juan Carlos Coto brings us an episode full of drama, intrigue, payoff, sexiness, baddies, and even death. It's a winner! Join us for a relatively measured and non-controversial look back on season 9 of 9-1-1. Really, I'm not even being sarcastic! Our hottest take is that we thought this season was pretty alright, lacking some of the epic highs and lows of previous seasons. We even consulted you listeners for your own takes. Chapters for your convenience: 00:00 Intro/revisiting season 8 6:38 General thoughts/highs an...

This week, it's your beloved co-host Ryan's BIRTHDAY!!!! So you'd better all be nice to him and accept all of his takes as correct. This episode of 9-1-1 is an emotional rollercoaster, from goofy reality TV antics to one of the show's most devastating calls. Season 9 finale? WHAT season 9 finale?! It's a classic theme-driven 9-1-1 episode this week, this time exploring DUMB LUCK. And you better believe we'll hear that theme repeated over and over again. Hear us break down perhaps the one true good Lucy storyline of the show, the funniest needle drop in 9-1-1 history, and Eddie's continued frustrating writing. Listen to our new Patreon episode, where we watched the first and last episodes of...

It's a weird, silly, scary time on the Respodcast this week! Hear us lament the characteristic messiness of Eddie's storylines, debate the personhood of spiders, and do some rare Buck bashing (DESERVED!). Eek I'm so AFRAID!
