The Home Video Hustle

Let's end the first month of The Halloween Hustle with a certified hood classic! Like Bad Boys 2, this was another of those DVD's that you'd see in every Black family household, including mine. Will it hold up though? That is the real question because not every parody of this era has held up in all these years. Cameron joins us for this episode and battles it out with Chris at the end of the episo...

Third time is the charm! Three times i've tried to get someone to watch this movie on the podcast with me! Anita stepped out for this one but Chris is here with me and not only did we watch this horror classic, we watched "The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs version. Oh yeah, I turned Chris into a member of The Mutant Fam! This movie holds a special place with me and i'm hoping Chris can show it...

Oh you didn't read that wrong! PJ is back for one night only and we had to celebrate it by doing something special. We went to Tubi, found some Maverick movies and couldn't decide which one to do so we said screw it and for the first time ever, we cover two movies in full! The Halloween Hustle is in strong effect this week! Of course since it's been a while, we got hype, we got drunk and the convo...

Oh yeah, Harry Potter is going away for a while because it's time for the Halloween Hustle baby and this is a film that i've wanted to get on the show for a long, long time! Sugar Hill is the fun story of a woman who gets revenge on a bunch of racist gangsters who killed her boyfriend by summoning Baron Samedi and killing them with voodoo magic! I was hype this week, I wont lie. There is some sing...

It's year five at Hogwarts and man, I hope we keep the momentum up from last movie because I still have like three movies left after this! I heard good things though, so let me grab my wand, see what the sorting hat got to say about me and go practice my Avada Kedavra spell! I also give my quick thoughts so far on the new Mortal Kombat game and show some love to Star Trek Online. Chris has beef wi...

Puppers, Doggos and satire, oh my! Yeah. this is one I was concerned about going in. Like Death to Smoochy, this is a film that I would skip past on TV all the time. Thanks to Izzy over at Everything I Learned from Movies, I have to finally sit down and watch this one too. Anita and Chris also have never seen this before so at least I wasn't alone. Chris and I also reminisce the hype old days of w...

We're back at Hogwarts for year 4 and i'm hoping I can finally break the 6/10 trend that has been going on with these films! Unlike the last film, Anita and Chris seemingly have different views on the quality of this installment, so my interest is there but will the enjoyment be there? That is the question. We also have good hearty laughs at the terrible CGI of that baby from Twilight, we discuss...

For so many years I would see this DVD in the discount bins at video stores, I would see it come on after watching something on Comedy Central and turn the channel, now thanks to Brandy G, I can no longer escape Smoochy! I can't lie, I wasn't looking forward to this one so I hoped it would be a pleasant surprise. We also talked about Space Jam 2, Scooby Doo, the Cowboy Bebop Netlfix show, old kids...

It's the third year over at Hogwarts and I hope it's a more eventful year than the last! Anita and Chris both think this is top tier with the Harry Potter movies but i'm gonna go into this level headed and with tempered expectations. Like the good 'ol days, the convo went all over the place as we also discussed the new Wonka movie, the Trump mugshot, Yogi Bear, The Flash TV series, old Nickelodeon...

Thank you Mike Bagford! It's been far too long since we last talked James Bond and this is well known as one of the best films in the series! I've only seen it once all the way through so this is going to be fun to give it full attention, take notes and see how well Mr. Bond can entertain me. I also give my PSA's to the film industry about spending too much money on over bloated budgets, we invest...

It's Year 2 at Hogwarts and I haven't heard a lot of good about this Chamber of Secrets! I ended up being okay with the first, but will this be better than expected or just a filler year? Chris and Anita are here with me, and she made me some Butterbeer...Even though I don't know what that is yet! I also learn a new way to diss people in the phrase, "Mudblood." Oh and I found out what group I woul...

Hey! You remember Jaws right? Well forget all that, we got killer whales son! It's been a while since we had some good 'ol trash on the podcast, this takes me back to the days when i'd make PJ watch Oversexed Rugsuckers from Mars or Gymkata. Anita and Chris are here this week and this movie was brought to us by the Homie Angel formerly of the Color Me Dead Podcast. Anita goes into her hatred or ho...

Now that I finally watched all the Rocky and Creed movies, I wanted to start another series that I had missed out on, not many bigger that I could think of than, Harry Potter! I read the first two books as a kid but never watched any of the films. That changes today and not only is Anita a super fan of the series but Chris is back this week and he is also a big fan! Let's see if this becomes anoth...

My Mom shows some love to the show this week with her second Patreon pick and as a die hard fan of mob films, she gave us the aptly titled, "Mobsters." Anita has never been exposed to that mob life, so she dips her toes in and starts with one that was universally panned and bombed in the movie theater. I have childhood memories of watching this film with Mom as a youngin' though, so i'm ready to s...

Patreon once again is going to broaden my horizons and get me to finally check out a Hayao Miyazki film! I like anime but with this being released by Disney, will it be too cutesy or sappy for my tastes or will the anime vibes keep this one from belonging in the trash? Anita is here once again and she grew up a fan of this joint so if you get mad at me, she's got your back. We also discuss our rec...

This Patreon pick is taking me back to my childhood! Back in 2003, MTV grabbed the rights to South Korean action film, Volcano High and got a bunch of rappers and singers to re dub it. I loved this back then but will it hold up 20 YEARS LATER? Anita is here and she basically talks me through all the basic sex-ed that I was neglected in my public school days. We hope you enjoy the show! Support The...

ROUND 10! It's finally time to end the Rocky saga, at least until they make another creed movie. Since it's the end and this is a newer movie, I decided to give it the full episode treatment and man, i'm glad I did. Anita is with me this week and we dive deep into the film as well as discuss LA dudes and lottery tickets in movies, horror and thriller films, Michael B Jordan dealing with being call...

The Hustle continues...From California! To celebrate the move I have a couple surprises for you, with the biggest being that until now, I have never seen Speed all the way through. That changes today! Anita joins me on the microphone this week as we discuss the film, my beef with movers and other people who have been making this move difficult, freight elevators, run flat tires, my first visit to...

This was recorded after the six year anniversary episode but I wanted to end the Ohio stretch of the podcast with PJ back on the microphone and Cameron joined us as well, my blood brother and my brother from another mother all together! PJ had us watch a Twilight Zone episode called, "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" and we give our quick thoughts about it. We mainly discuss music (of course)...

We've talked about watching this movie for years now and with this being the last episode i'm going to record in Ohio before heading out to California, I felt it was about time. Chris and Cameron are here with me on this walk back through our childhoods. Chris drops mad knowledge and flexes his Power Rangers knowledge, we figure out our favorite Run-DMC songs, Cameron expresses his love for the St...

After quoting and referencing this movie every week for so long, Chris and I finally just said screw it and reviewed the movie. We actually stay on topic pretty much the whole episode but we do branch off at times to discuss wrestling, the Final Destination movies, film remakes that are better than the originals and of course the huge influence this film had on hip-hop. Dont be a cock-a-roach, com...

The Hustle has been strong for 300 (plus) episodes! I got Chris and Cameron here and I had to find a movie for us to really sink our teeth into and since we are all lifelong Mortal Kombat fans, this made the most sense. We nerd out and deep dive into MK cannon, the biggest MK jobbers, our love for Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, old MK commercials, the best endings from Mortal Kombat 4 and ge...

Chris cheats the system and picks his own Patreon pick this week but he wanted to watch Black Dynamite, so i'll allow it! No spoiler here, this is one of my favorite movies of all time and we had a lot of fun talking about it. We also discuss movies on Adult Swim, bad subtitles on VUDU, our top 3 James Bond films, Janelle Monae, Ernest movies, hot sauce on weird foods and our favorite stand up com...

The next year of Hustlin' begins with Chris facing his childhood fears! Will he still be scared of the aliens in this film all these years later? Listen and find out! Shout out to Arek, the patron who gave us this film to watch. We also talk about Ninja Turtles, bad video game trades, favorite Spider-Man villains, Vin Diesel movies and the response to our Freddy Got Fingered episode! Thank you for...

Six years, man how time flies. The Home Video Hustle has gone through many changes but we're still here. From 45-minute episodes to six-hour extravaganzas, we are happy to have been able to keep you entertained for so damn long now. With this being an anniversary episode, I had to do something special, and I think you'll be happy once you hit that play button. There is a reason the episode is so l...
