The Foreign Saint's Podcast

We get very practical teaching we can apply to making disciples from Jesus himself in chapter 10. Additionally, what did Jesus mean by the phrase "before the Son of Man comes" and does it make him a false prophet? This episode is packed with so much more as well. Be blessed and enjoy!

Many would say that the woman healed of her bleeding disorder is an example of this idea called manifesting. Is that true though? Is that the theology the Jesus intended to teach or are the wolves in the sheep pen again? Also, why did Jesus tell people not talk about him sometimes? What is the Messianic Secret? Enjoy and be blessed!

Hey there foreigners, I am QUITE under the weather currently. I still wanted to record though so I thought I'd share my usual meditation when I'm sick. Afterward I thought I'd gracefully challenge you to consider one of the most difficult to believe facts of the Christian life: God IS your friend because he WANTED to be your friend. Be blessed and enjoy!

Medicine and Christianity have a crazy amount of similarities. I've been meaning to bring those two things together for a series on this show for some time. Welcome to my first attempt at it: I had a 5 straight 12-hour days in the Neurological and Cardiac ICU's at my hospital this last weekend. I was challenged quite a bit to practice what I've been teaching in Matthew lately. Between...

Jesus ate with sinners is something people love to say but do you know the importance of that truth? Is it a blank check to sin or is this story an invitation into a way of telling your story in a way that truly heals the sick? Additionally, what was the parable of the wineskins about anyway? All that and more this time. Be blessed and enjoy!

An overview of my Resurrection Day Weekend, sharing stories of the Kingdom moving forward in surprising ways. A care package for a pregnancy out of wedlock with a Gospel plea, a 12 year old son of a lesbian couple choosing to follow Jesus, and a meditation on the conscience-cleansing power of the blood of Jesus! Happy Resurrection Day 2024, be blessed! P.S. Lena, Anna, and Trent, if you're rea...

Yes salvation is a free gift of God but there is a cost all the same. That cost is comfort and the societal call is to do justice to our neighbor and push back against the oppression of the kingdom of darkness. I talk typology again this episode between the scribe Ezra, and the ultimate scribe Jesus Christ! Be blessed and enjoy!

We are just as shocked and in turmoil about what's been revealed from behind the scenes at Nickelodeon. This is not all there is to say on the matter but we do talk about the sliminess and instability of having kids be the head of the house instead of the husband. We invite all of our listeners to examine the logs that may be blinding our sight first, before discussing the specks in others. Be...

A trifecta of healings done by Jesus and a quotation by Matthew about the suffering servant of Isaiah 53. What's it all about? Your redemption. From the leprosy quarantine laws to a centurion's humility, it's all to teach the theology that Jesus has the authority and desire to save all who come to him with repentance. Enjoy and be blessed!

The finale of the sermon on the mount! Jesus ends this sermon with a warning against false prophets and the occult practices forbidden in the Law of Moses. I discuss the inherent dangers involved with being completely open to any and all spiritual forces while challenging Christians to abandon any occult practices they take part in and be totally faithful to Jesus, the prophet like Moses we will b...

"Judge not" is one of the most weaponized phrases against Christians of all time. What did Jesus really mean by this and how do we walk this out in our lives? Additionally, how does the golden rule impact our understanding of God the Father's involvement in our prayer lives? The answer is literally life-changing for the Christian. Enjoy, and be blessed!

The Alabama Supreme Court has just given a verdict that has been heard around the world concerning IVF. What is it all about? Is IVF compatible with the Gospel? Are barren women in the scripture like Sarah, Rachel, or Hannah good positive examples for IVF or are those stories picturing a grander truth? Be blessed and enjoy!

What is the value in storing up treasure in heaven rather than on earth? We have a way of avoiding really thinking about this topic deeply because we're afraid deep down of God making our materialism more clear to us and having to do something about it. I would much rather see us all under servitude of King Jesus instead of the living in anxiety under the tyranny of our toys. Enjoy, be blessed...

Hypocrisy exists everywhere in and out of church. Today Jesus asks the question, "Is it in you too?" The sermon on the mount moves on to religious hypocrisy and Jesus gives us a framework to think about hypocrisy through and challenges us to put hypocrisy to death in us wherever it may be found. Be blessed and enjoy!

Finishing chapter 5 of Matthew today, piercing meditation on how we as God's people treat our marriages too lowly. It's a part of the sermon on the mount some of us tend to ignore or theologize our way out of. Also, giving some teaching on what the eye for an eye laws in the Torah really were and what that has to do with loving our enemies. Be blesssed!

Did Jesus have an issue with the Old Testament or not? Can you be saved by obedience to the law or is there another way? Jesus is on the warpath in the sermon on the mount to prove that no one is righteous enough for the kingdom, that all need rescue, and his first proof is our penchant to insult and venomously ridicule people made in the image of God. It leads people into violent sin and eternal...

The final five beatitudes and instruction on what salt of the earth and light of the world mean as titles for the community of disciples. Handling misconceptions such as "What's with the laws on mixed fabrics?" and what exactly the answer to that has to do with "Blessed are the pure..." Why does Jesus place you and I as his followers in the same sentence as the prophets of...

Parallels between Moses and Jesus abound! That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone reading Matthew, though. He goes out of his way to make the similarities clear. Karai expounds on Moses being Jesus's shadow in the Old Testament. Then, in the 2nd half, the first four beattitudes of the sermon on the mount are opened up as Jesus commands all to repent and find in him a new way to happiness an...

Perhaps my most controversial episode released EVER...so far anyway. We start by discussing the situation of Brittany Watts: is she being tried for miscarriage? If not, then what is really going on and how can the Proverbs guide us? After that, Karai shares the stance on abortion that this podcast takes as the discussion turns a favorite topic: social justice. Be blessed and convicted! Enjoy!

The importance of the Gospel is reinforced via prophecy from Isaiah this week. The planning and mercy of God on display in the miraculous ministry of Jesus starting in northern Israel, the land of two tribes with rebellious history. See how God was not content to leave them in shame and came to redeem! The road to Sermon on the Mount is heating up. Be blessed and enjoy!

Welcome to 2024 my fellow foreign saints! Got a juicy story out of North Korea about a man that used to serve in their military but defected to South Korea and was saved by Jesus Christ! Be challenged to lay your idols at the feet of Jesus and commit yourself to the renewal of the mind by the Scripture and Spirit so you can better live the spiritual and social vision of the true Jesus! Enjoy and b...

Why was Jesus baptized? A question that has stumped many a Christian for many an age. A question with an answer that will bring you to worshipful gratitude for what your King did for you! Also, the three temptations of Christ: what can we learn about Jesus from them? What can we learn for our own battles against tempters in our own lives? All that and more in this episode of The Foreign Saint'...

First half we learn from Josephs life a pattern for working through godly decision making, useful for all of us just trying to live wise in service of King Jesus. Second half we begin to learn who John the Baptist really was, the last and best of the Old Covenant Prophets.

Meredith returns in this episode to talk about the trendy talking point of default parenting: the idea that mothers have the unfair share of the load in child-rearing no matter how responsible the husband may be. We share some of our experiences as married folk and in the 2nd half I show the similarities between stay-at-home mothers and the Levitical priesthood. You don't want to miss this one...

The Old Testament is more artistic and profound than we ever fully appreciate. In our quest to prove everything we neglect what God says through poetry and the artistic: spoiler alert-it's the Gospel!
