The words of marriage matter. When we read Ephesians 5 in the Bible, we see clear guidelines for the practice of marriage.  It's easy to see only what's right in front of us. Our problems can consume us, and we fail to keep our perspective on eternity.  This teaching is a good reminder that when we look at people, do we see that person as someone who the blood of Jesus has covered?  One essential practice of marriage...

Before your date, define your mate.  When we look at scripture, we see an emphasis on being in a relationship with someone who has a heart for God.  The truth is, you will not find a perfect person for you. But scripture lays out the relationship that should exist in a marriage. 

What is the source of fuel in your relationships? It's easy to replace the Holy Spirit as a fuel source with kids, traveling, and other things. They are all good things, but they are not infinite. They will run out. The Holy Spirit is infinite, and he must be the source of fuel for our relationships.

There is a process we see in Acts 2 that will determine your destiny here on this earth. Through faith in Jesus, your eternal destiny has been determined. When you follow Jesus, there is a process that will determine your earthly destiny. But in order for this process to take place, you must begin.

Your greatest potential in life always involves loving and serving others. God has given you specific gifts to be used to become more like him and to love and serve others. As we study what becoming like Christ looks like, we must maintain a perspective that views God as the author and transformer of our life.

The Holy Spirit calls people through faith to fellowship in his church. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47 (ESV)

Acts 2:42 (ESV) Reaching your greatest potential in Christ involves a person and a process.  The person? Jesus Christ. The process? Believe, Belong, Become, Begin Believe What? This is how we begin our study in Acts 2.
